Oh! I was in Korea with Schrodinger when we had our nose done!
I don't know if she's active on the forums anymore, but she did it at VIP. I remember cause she decided to use rib cartilage. And since they extracted it form her chest (obviously) she had a hard time walking because of the pain.

I remembered we have chatted before. How's everything? Have u gotten your surgery done??

My deviation wasn't very obvious and my doc did admit that he overlook it back in May so he did a minor correction for me in July, I can say that he's quite responsible and my nose looks fine now.

Hey Zoey,
I'm actually going back to Korea in December to get a revision so I don't want to share my photos... And I don't know how much her nose job was but I would imagine it's more expensive to use a donor rib graft than harvest one from your own body... You can go to the VIP website and do a consultation with them. Sorry I can't be of more help and good luck

I agreed with bisousX. I got my nose done twice in VN and they all screwed up! There's absolutely no good surgeon in VN, the failure rate should be around 80%. Either you make efforts to go to Korea, Japan or Thailand, either you don't get any PS at all. Don't ever risk your face with VN surgeons!

Yes he offered artificial implants. He's not a rib exclusive guy. my implant is actually Goretex and rib was used for everything else. And he explains the pros and cons for each and lets you decide.

They didn't push me into anything. Everything is up to you. The fat graft thing is just a huge trend happening over there right now, many local Chinese elect to have it done based on results.

I paid the same amount I was quoted over email. They're stern on price, so it's not like Korea where you can bend them. I tried. But if you're a student you get a 10% discount. Just bring your card.



I had paranasal done using Goretex. But usually the premax is enough to push forward the midface in some cases. If you see him in person he can tell you if you're a good candidate for paranasals. He did for me.

Yeah dude, warping is the number 1 complication of using rib cartilage. Doctors can only minimise the chances of it happening but if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. They can use K-wire to fix the cartilage, but it'll show up in x-ray and you have to come back to get it removed. But he says fixing the warping issue is super easy and a minor procedure. They won't charge you much to get that tweak.



Dr Wang's clinic gave the the best post-op care of any clinic I've been to. The staff is super friendly and personable, and because it's a small clinic there's a real tight-knit family vibe going on. Brigette the patient coordinator is super sweet and will hold your hand the entire way through your stay. At times they coddled me a little too much that made me feel incredibly guilty, but they all insisted that it was their duty.

Don't be scared about being foreign, they love their foreign patients and will give you extra attention. Even though I didn't speak Chinese I never felt like I was stuck behind a language barrier. If you speak Chinese, I guarantee you'll leave with them as new friends. lol.

Dr Wang is really nice, although when I was he seemed kind of strapped for time, but when he sat down to talk to me I had his full attention and never seemed bothered by anything I asked him even though he's probably answered it a million times already.

Overall Dr Wang's clinic is top notch. He runs a tight ship. If you ever have any reservations about it, don't. It's 100% legit. Just go. Dalian is a nice city, you forget you're in China sometimes. Looks like Russia.

I am quite confused..
U mentioned goretex for yr bridge and paranasal as well. Rib was used for everything else...what do u mean by everythg else?besides bridge n paranasal, the only I can think of is only the tip part..so harvested rib only for tip? If yes, why not harvest ear cartilage? Just curious thou..hehhe
Do you mind to share/pm me the price you paid as instead of rib, artificial implant is used in the bridge..

Just got done with Rhinoplasty at JW with Dr. Suh Man Koon. So here’s a recap of the day. I figured i’d give back to this forum since it has helped me so much.

I took Korean Air and I couldn’t stop staring at all the flight attendants’ noses!!! They all almost looked perfect and maybe a bit similar to each other

Arriving in Seoul
Anyway, arrived at ICN airport at 5am, picked up my EG sim card at Kbooks which i had pre-purchased online back in the US so I can have a phone right away. Made a friend on this forum too and we planned our flights to arrive only 30 minutes apart which was perfect and we both got picked up by Nancy, the consultant at JW. The driver was wearing a suit and the car’s chair had a fancy vibrating massage thing! Never seen anything like it. Very professional and they are super nice.

Consultation
We got dropped off at our apartment and the driver picked us up a little later and brought us to the clinic. The clinic was very nice, Nancy and Emily were both very nice and accommodating. I met Dr. Suh and he had a very warm personality. Very first thing, he asked me what I did not like about my nose and what would I like to change about it. I told him that it looked like a potato and we all laughed. I told him that it was bulbous and the bridge needs a bit of height and definition at the tip. I also mentioned that i don’t know if I should get alar reduced or not and he asked if I feel like they are wide when i don’t smile. I told him not really, and he strongly suggested not to do alar because he doesn’t think they are wide and after the augmentation, it’ll look a nit narrower. That tells me that Dr. Suh doesn’t try to sell extra procedures, that the most important thing is to have a nose that will go well with the patient. I’ve had a few inquiries online with other clinics that suggest even more than rhinoplasty when all i’m asking about is rhinoplasty! “You should do chin also, etc.” Doing alar will make my nose look too slim and I have a bit of a round face so it will just not look harmonious. He also said he does not use L-shaped implants which i learned has a higher rate of extrusion and that was one of my questions. He made his suggestions and I knew I could trust him. He really asks what I would like my nose to look like, whether I want it straight or curved. He really takes into consideration the patient’s face shape and not just producing factory produced nose, and also the patient’s wishes.

Surgery
They brought me to my recovery room, changed and went into surgery room. They removed all my nose hairs which felt a bit uncomfortable and they also swabbed it. That was the most discomfort I felt during the surgery coz I was knocked out and next thing you know I was awake with a brand new nose! I was afraid I was gonna wake up during the procedure but that didn’t happen luckily. I was brought back to my recovery room where my good friend was waiting and I got a little goodie bag with 3 face masks that can be heated and frozen and also some antibiotics and pain killers and a little note in an envelope with all the instructions. After about 20 minutes, I was feeling fine surprisingly and we decided to go back to our apartment. A nice lady named Jenny came to the room to explain the medications in the goody bag. We had a nice Korean meal nearby our apartment 2 hours after the surgery.

Post-op
My nose of course hurts a little but it feels more like a really really bad sinus. Still bleeding a bit as expected and I got some foam stuffed up my nostrils so I have to breathe through my mouth for the next 2-3 days. Just looking at it now, I feel so happy already because I can see my tip has more definition! About 2 and a half hours after the surgery, the anesthesia started to wear down so I started to feel a little bit of pain in my nose. Not bad, again the pain feels like a really bad sinus. There’s also a lot of pressure on my eyes and my eyeballs feel heavy, like a bad congestion/cold so I took percocet and the rest of my deswelling pills and the antibiotics given by JW. Woke up 8 hours later and now it doesn’t hurt as bad but my eyes are just more swollen.

I’ve been talking here and there with a few people from this forum on kakao and they have been so supportive and encouraging throughout this whole journey so I really appreciate that.

Overall my experience at JW has been great so far, even better than I expected. Can’t wait to see the final product!

Gotcha! Do you or anyone know of any good scar reducing medicines or creams, etc.?

If so, I'll definitely be sure to stock up!
