peterpan88
So you had Paranasal Augmentation before? How long does it take you to get your smile back to normal? I work in the media so it'll be important for me to smile everyday... Oh and where did you have your procedure, if I may ask?
shinyglittery
where is this post/avatar? i want to see it... what is joker smile exactly? i think maybe it would not be so bad for me, i think too much of my upper teeth show when i smile with my mouth open. i actually don't like smiling with my mouth open because i have overbite (my upper teeth are in front of my lower teeth). hey thank you for this post, i'm really not concerned about showing my teeth either haha, i rather not. i don't have bad teeth but they're not good either... i've been thinking about getting them looking better at the same time when i have v-line but i don't want to waste too much money on something that you can't even see (except the overbite and that they're a little yellow) when i talk normally. i don't need perfect teeth, just a little better. maybe i should whiten them. i think my smile could be prettier too. thank you for giving me confidence that it can lead to good results too where did you have your paranasal? wishingstar
Has anyone had success with lasting paranasal fat grafts (instead of implants)? (Fat grafts wouldn't change the smile, right... but do they last?)
sadgirlnow
I just had paranasal implants 3 days ago and Im already regretting it. My upper lip are still numb and when I try to smile, i can feel the implant on the right side restricting my smile. I never wanted it on the first place, my surgeon just coaxed me into getting it here in korea. I wonder if anyone has successfully had it removed with no issues? How soon can i have it removed? Will my smile return to normal?
k-couture
I believe, as with any surgery, the soonest you can get it removed is 6 months. The issues you have cited is exactly why I opted against using paranasal implants and went for hydroxyappatite instead. Your restrictive issues will lessen as you deswell but likely still be there. most people i know how did paranasal had them removed You are better off with fillers imo
motty26
Hi K, Howdy -- hope everything is well with you. Were u able to do your paranasal aug with Dr. M from Melb? How was the experience? Thanks!
quick2014
I have thought about this procedure last year but not anymore. Two friends removed after 2-3 months.
gantz
How was your experience with Hydroxyappatite? I was waiting to ask for that for sooo long!!! lol Thanks!
k-couture
oh its great. Was super easy too. Mendelson just sedated me and did the entire procedure through my nostril via a canula. Very impressed. No need for fillers and doesnt feel restrictive or uncomfortable like bulky paranasal implants. Not cheap tho. Expect me to pay at least 8000 aussie dollars and up depending on how much hydroxy you need. Mendelson will not get out of bed for less -_-
gantz
Thank you for answering! But OMG 8000 dollars!!!!! That's crazy expensive!!!!! But this is permanent right? And the result is permanent stop of using fillers? That's great! Will this area sink again later as you age and lose more bone and fat? Also in which shape did he put it? Triangle or along the folds in a staight line? Did he mention what type of HA he used? Why is it so expensive? Do you happen to know? Also another question: Do you happen to know if he is retiring soon? I want to get this done as well but there is no way I can spend this much money now, in 10 years maybe.. Thank you so much K Couture!
scandinavia
I got the same rhinoplasty at DAPRS. Fully satisfied. Definitely recommend you Dr. Ahn.
k-couture
Oh mendelson is ancient LOL...I actually told him that I was concerned he would be retiring soon because of his age and he agreed that was valid concern. And yeah i no longer need fillers. put it this way, my hydroxy still remains in my mid cheeks still this day. I removed some a few years ago but what remained in there did not suffer from any signicant resorption. its been over 10 years already. He used Hydroxy granules. Surgeons who use this form of implant often only can use it in its pre shaped form. Mendelson mixes the granules with your blood and turns it into a putty form and molds it onto your bone. I dont believe the material is expensive. Surgery in Australia just costs a bomb and mendelson's reputation as the former ISAPS president and pioneering of his hydroxy technique makes him freakishly expensive. sadgirlnow
It's now 10 days post-op. Most swelling is gone, face looks ok when static but here are the problems: total numbness from my upper lips to cheek (is this normal??) , and again cannot smile wide like before. I really regret having paranasal implants, it's very unnatural and i dont know why it's heavily pushed by doctors in Korea. My clinic/consultant even said that this should be my #1 priority even if I went there for something else. Looks like they want my $3000. Will my smile return to normal when I have this removed? Can I have it removed even if I am still numb? I cannot wait any longer than 1 month as everyone in my work is thinking what is wrong with me when I speak and cannot smile.... gantz
Could HA be used in the under eye area and forehead or temples? When you say 'Surgeons who use this form of implant often only can use it in its pre shaped form'' what do you mean? Which is it's preshaped form? Granules you mean? Also, is it derived from corals or from some animal source? I want to do this so bad for folds though I have to find another surgeon who does that, I will not be able to grasp Mendelson before he retires! Do you happen to know anyone? Thank you once more lol! k-couture
Hydroxy can be used for temples, unsuitable for forehead but for undereye only for placement where the zygoma arch is. Anything higher is not possible. Pre shaped forms I have seen was shown to me by Peter L Dixon. He showed me a sample Hydroxy pre shaped for a zygoma augmentation. It looked like a boxier version of a silicone cheekbone implant. Hydroxy is derived from coral, which as fairly similar structure to human bone. Mendelson uses the granule form and mixes it with your blood and turns it into a putty form and then molds it onto the bone. After 2 weeks or this form of hydroxy securely fuses to the bone. And no, I dunno anyone who can do this technique besides him. Probably one of the many reasons why he is so freakishly expensive
