Bit of advice for Airbnb, definitely book your place before you book airline tickets and check their calendars. All the really good places get booked up well in advance.

Did you find out where you gf got hers done?

I did an online consultation with Grand. I asked them what I can do about my nose and eyebags and if cheek augmentation/fat grafts is a good idea. This is what they recommended:

1) Tip plasty only or possibly just making my bridge smooth, since my bridge is already high. 3,500,000 KRW to 4,500,000 KRW for the rhino.

2) Eye bag repositioning for 1,650,000 KRW to 1,800,000 KRW.

3) Acculift for my cheeks. It's laser lipo for my face. 1,500,000 KRW.

Sticker Price Shock

I've been on an exhaustive search to sort out my chin. I am sure genioplasty will do it, and I've been hard pressed to find a real pro in the procedure. I actually started contacting heads of Maxillofacial Surgery at big hospitals and university departments to get recommendations of private clinics who they think are the best at genioplasty in Seoul. And one responded back and said this doctor:

Seong-Yik Han MD, DDS, PhD, FKCCS & KBCS
Han Seong-Yik Plastic Surgery Clinic

http://www.facehan.com/

He's also a teaching fellow for this professional org.

http://www.koreancosmeticsurgery.com/02/03.php

This looked very promising because not only is he an MD, but he's also a DDS and all he does are dental, jaw and chin. He trained at the University of Hamburg in Germany, and it appears that he knows his stuff.

I booked an appointment and his clinic much like his website was nothing fancy. In fact it was like the complete opposite of all these fancy clinics. Very humble and simple, so I have the consultation with him and he really knows his stuff, and he shows me ways to fix the problem that were not even in the field of awareness of other doctors. I even learned that some popular doctors in Seoul were actually his juniors in training conferences etc.... He speaks English very well (I think he speaks German too), I take xrays and photos, and he tells me to come back a week later for his analysis and blueprint of how he's going to do the surgery. This consultation and xrays cost 90,000 KRW - $90. I didn't know that until the end, I was kind of annoyed by that, but whatever it's OK. I want to see what a real pro in this procedure recommends.

I go back and he has my xrays and he did what is called a "Cephalometric Analysis" meaning he actually measured stuff out and then drew traces of the cut and how he will do the surgery etc... He is even doing something that I never heard of and is pretty cutting edge, which instead grafting bone (taking bone from one place and moving it to another place) he is using stem cells for your body to generate all new bone naturally.

I felt like he's the man to do it. And then I got the price. 8,000,000 WON - WOW! I was really stunned because his clinic is off the radar and beaten path and does not cater to foreign patients. When I was sitting in the waiting room, the people just looked like normal lower to middle class Koreans. But he's charging me like I'm Tom Cruise or something. Not saying he's not worth it, if he was in America no problem, but this is Korea! I wondered if I'm getting an inflated price as a foreigner.

I was shocked. That was basically Beverly Hills pricing (I know I sent my photos there and checked at those clinics). It was a 166% percent increase from a mega factory Seoul clinic I consulted with. I expected it to be in the range of 3,000,000 ($3K USD) to 6,500,000 ($6K USD). Technically it was $6K, but this stem cell material bumped the price up an extra $1.5 K USD.

So I'm torn:

- Should I just go back to North America, and get it done there?
- Take a risk at a mega Seoul clinic and pay a lower price?
- Pay Doctor Han the extra price for the peace of mind?

I want to get married, so I'm on a budget.

Hey SeoulForReal

I went to get a consultation at Dr Han's clinic. He's very legit and doesn't advertise. I'm getting charged 24 0000 000 won for zygoma reduction genioplasty and mandibular shaving.
Darn it's really expensive but I don't have the nerve to do it at another place!

Yeah, he's not a marketer. He told me "Doctors should be Doctors." And I really respect that. I know he's the right fit for chin and jaw, but I'm on a tight strategic budget to get my GF the wedding of her dreams, and I count every penny I spend, and do as much freelance work as I can.

How did you hear about him?

That translator is highly recommended in this forum too..but she was damn mean and bullying that poor patient.

Anyway just to share with other forumers, it may be better to find other forumers and meetup there.

From what I experience in Kr, the forumers I met all take care of each other better then the translators.

And I'm missing everyone I met there! Had fun hanging out together! Although we were from diff parts of the world, everyone was able to get along and have fun.

Barely missing you! I'll be arriving April 4th-5th. Still haven't booked my plane ticket and won't be able to book it until another two weeks. That's when I'll be able to find out if I can get more than 10 days off my schedule.

MY GF is going to post her place on airbnb for PS traveling ladies, and I'm thinking of posting my place on there as well for guys and girls (my place pics below). I live near Gangnam station. It's a studio / officetel in a safe area (next to an elementary school), and unlike other listings - I decked it out and made it cozy. I can be on hand to pop-in on nights & weekends for local assistance that people might need. MY GF lives in a 3 bedroom villa not too far away, and she's a homebody, so can offer basic care and assistance as well. Plus we both are very social so if you like partying and shopping we can show you the Gangnam night life with free entry to most places - benefits of dating a Seoulite ;)

This is a new thing for us, but I feel people are really navigating in the dark when they come out here, so if I can offer a service that helps people, gives my GF something to do, and also helps finance our wedding, then that sounds like a win-win to me.

From what I understand, you can get bumpiness and uneven results. Also, because much of the fat is reabsorbed, you may not even see a great deal of difference...

Hey, Taeyang, are you a chick with a crush on Taeyang? or a dude who's into Big Bang?
