Best Plastic Surgery Clinics in Korea -read 1st post before posting.

I don't think that's the reason. I've got emails from Grand, Shimmian, Regen, Small Faces, Samsung line and only Shimmian recommends Rib cartilage for my case (nose revision, I had silicone implant deviated). I asked doctors from Grand why they don't recommend rib cartilage for me, they answered that I don't need it because using rib cartilage is very complicating, they only use it in extreme cases, and it's difficult to reshape the rib cartilage so the result may looks unnatural. Otherwise, all these clinics say that ear cartilage is only recommended for tip.

Here's an interesting post about different materials used for rhinoplasty, it might help you to decide:

"You're right about how most doctors use ear cartilage on the nose tip. It seems like the standard. Most Asians don't have enough septal cartilage, so doctors resort to using ear cartilage. You have to keep in mind that ear cartilage is very weak and has an irregular shape. Out of all the cartilages, ear cartilage has the highest rate of absorption. Rib cartilage can warp and resorb, which is why it's so important to go to a specialist because a doctor's skill in carving and working with the cartilage can make all the difference. In the hands of the right doctor, it will last your lifetime. This is why some people have problems while others do not. I think it depends on what a person is willing to do, and like you mentioned, weigh out the pros and cons. Yeah, it's too bad that there is no perfect graft."

Hi Anna,

Since you have ps with silicon implant, how does it go?? I mean anything you would like to share with me as Dr.Park suggests me to have a silicon implant bridge and septal cartilage tip. Did you use the silicon implant for your tip and this it is deviated. Sorry if I sound a bit rude to you. I mean no offense. Pls do share as I'm considering silicon implant but scared of side effects

I heard u need to stay from 10-14 days so it's better off to stay at leSt 2 weeks after surgery

Hi, I'm here to share and to be shared so don't worry ;)

So I got my nose lifted with silicone implant twice. Only lifted, not any other surgeries like tip plasty or osteoplasty etc. I think that's why I have problem because after surgery, my nose looks bigger than before surgery, it looks short from the side view and the silicone implant is deviated.

Note that I had my nose lifted twice, and both of the times the silicone implant is bent leftwardly. I've contacted many clinics in Seoul for a nose revision and based on what I told them, they all conclude that maybe my original nose structure is already deviated before surgery (it happens to many people) and my nose bone is too large, that's the reason why the silicone implant couldn't hold properly and I ll need to have it narrowed.

So here's an advice: Before undergoing the rhinoplasty, ask the doctor as much as possible about your original nose structure: Is your nose too large to keep the silicone implant not moving? Is it deviated? If yes, what will he do to fix them? The doctor NEEDS to examine all these elements before operating because they decide whether your nose looks nice or not after surgery.

Apart from deviation, I haven't had any other problem with the silicone. It looks (and feels) pretty natural. That's why I'm considering silicone implant for the revision too.
At first, when I haven't done enough research, I thought about rib cartilage because I'm tired of having surgeries and revision, I thought that the rib cartilage would last forever and that it looked natural, but after reading this post and having consulted many clinics, I decided not to get rib cartilage. I quote it here below:

"Rib cartilage... when a person touches my nose tip, they are terrified at how hard it is. Before the surgery, they don't say a word about how hard your nose will become... At clinic X (i guess she consulted other clinics after her failed nose job), they tell me that if I bump my current nose, "snap!" it's going to break so I must be careful... Also, because the doctor (from ***) took out my nasal cartilage as well as the cartilage that maintains the nostrils, if i remove all the rib cartilage, my nose "will collapse" like boong-uh-ppang ( a flat korean pastry). And i heard this from a nurse after the surgery. Before the surgery, when I was already in my hospital gown, they said that they may or may not use a k-wire and vaguely handed me the consent form. At the end, they used a K-wire on me.

As a former patient of this clinic, unlike what the clinic says, the surgery was a major one and due to its aggressive and unconventional nature, caused proportionally huge problems for me. Since the doctor alters the very foundation of the nose and I don't know if he is unable to do a revision but he finds blame in the patient and is very unreasonable ?? (when she asked for a revision, i think...). Doctors from other clinics refuse to do revision on this doctor's work and they advise that I go back constantly to the clinic and make sure that the structure of my nose remains stable throughout the years. Also, doctors from other clinics have told me that I could've gotten the projection I wanted without using rib cartilage. Surgery from this clinic is not easy but a revison is much much more difficult. The nose I had previously, with a foreign implant and ear cartilage, was more of a human nose, more aesthetically pleasing nose, and a safe nose. I was having a hard time after the surgery and all they tell me are excuses and I couldn't even post any complaints on the clinic's homepage. "

Thanks a lot for the further info, Anna.
I know that a lot if people are considering own cartilages and fat for rhinoplasty but there still are some problems remaining even if they are from your own tissues. I need to research more and more before I fly off to Seoul. Really appreciate your help !!

Hi!
I actually BK Dr Kim and told him the 3types of surgeries n he only recommended 1 week stay in Seoul! I allowed myself 10 days with 7th day for removal of sitches n 3 more days of observation. I would love to stay extra days but the concern of limited number of annual leave from work would be diffcult. But anyway I'm still considering to stay >10 days just in case ...

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a discount even though I'm just having 1 procedure done? I know most clinics give a discount for multiple surgeries but now I'm thinking about just getting 1 surgery (mini V line) I will be paying cash so I'm hoping I can still get some kind of a discount just because I'm paying in cash.

How much is your surgery? I know that most clinics give a discount if you pay cash even though you're only having one procedure done. But I haven't gotten my surgery yet so I can't exactly tell you from experience.

For mini V line at ID I was quoted 5.5 mil won and Small Face quoted me 5 mil won. I think View charges 5 mil won too but I'm not sure. If I can get 1 mil won off the price, I would be grateful... or even 500,000 won would be cool! When are you having surgery?

What are you looking to get done? I look at specific reviews on the type of surgery. There a lot of good reviews for BK here, but there are a few bad ones, too.

I think you'll be able to get that much off if you pay cash  I also read in past posts that you can try to bargain for a lower price. Remember that they always charge foreigners more

I am going in early April and I am getting nose job and chin implant

I don't think it will make your eyes rounder, but I've heard of people getting the corners (inner, outer, or both) cut. It makes the eyes longer and appear bigger. However, if your eyes aren't far apart, I'm afraid it'll look weird!

I think cutting the outside of your eyes is called lateral canthoplasty. Xiaxue got it done, I think. People say it just makes your eyes look longer. I'm really interested in this, but I can't find out a lot about it. I have double eyelids naturally, and I quite like my eyes, but having them a little longer might be nice.

Mouseyval below says you can get a levator muscle operation to make your eyes look bigger?

I wish I could go so soon! That's a lot of money, but the costs of everything seem very normal. I'm not getting anything that you're looking to get, but I'll tell you the prices I was given.

Grand
Nose — Tip plasty, osteotmy possibly, but he said it includes changing my bridge. $3.2k to $4.1k
Cheeks— Acculift lipo. $1.35k
Eye bags — Eye bag re-positioning $1.5k to $2k
TOTAL >> $6000 to $7500 pretty much

BK
Nose — lateral osteotmy or rasping and bulbous tip correction. $5k to $5.5k
Cheeks — lipo or buccal fat removal. both $2k to 2.5k
Eye bags — lower blepharoplasty. $1.5k to 2.5k
TOTAL >> $8500 to $10500

I'm really thinking about getting my eye corners cut. I also really wish I could get love band surgery, but I think it only looks good when it's natural... Oh well.

Hi otomegirl,

As per explaination from Dr Kim, eyelid levator muscle correction is for upper eyelids that cover your pupil slightly and you want to make your eyes look bigger, then you may need to do eyelid muscle correction. Levator muscle is the muscle which helps you to open and close the eyes.

You are planning to make a trip to Seoul approximatedly when?
I am looking for a companionship there!
It's ok when we are not doing the same jobs, as long as we have company there and preferably same doctor
please email me at [email protected]

I am looking at traveling after Aug 2013. I really need to do more read ups before going for operations because I plan to do Eyes, Nose and v-line Jaw surgeries. Out of the 3, V-line is a major surgery which need GA. Hence, i would need an approximate 10 days ~ 14 days.
