since their website is all in korean how did u converse with them prior to arrival in seoul? I m not sure how to consult them online since they speak minimal English

yes, the site is all in korean, but i didn't really take anything from the site except for the b&a pics. All the information about my surgeries can be found in other clinics that have english sites, such as regen, grand, bk, etc. For the online consulting page, i wouldn't rely on it as the responders are at most consultants, and all the information are repetitive. Check out iD hospital's consulting page as that clinic specializes in bone surgery as well and has a pretty informative q&a and site.

You can form a group or connect with one on here. That's what we did. Also, there will be other people having surgery at the clinic you choose, you can also befriend them and hang out. I'm sure most people will be there by themselves and feel just as lonely not knowing the language, etc.

I would. Great service from the point I landed at Incheon to the day I left. They picked us up and drop us off coming in and flying out of Seoul. I'm satisfied with the outcome. I'm a guy so I'm not to vain about the slow healing. If you want fast recovery and immediate results, ribs may not be right for you. Your nose will look big and tip bulbous due to rib and swelling. The swelling will take a while to go away; up to a year. For me, I'd say 5 weeks is sufficient time for me to look normal. At 4 weeks it's looking good but could still see redness/pinkness on wounds but easily covered up with BB cream. Do your research first. If it's your first surgery, maybe silicone is okay; attain the shape and height that you like then if you decide to do rib you know the height you want and already have the shape. Which ever you decide, good luck to you swan-to-be.

Hi Lexethan, thank you for sharing your detail experience! I knew Hyong has pretty good result, and I think you have it, too. Expcept rhinoplasty, what else surgeries you did at there? I am planning to there in middle of OCT or end of OCT for two weeks, and the same clinic as you. I hope I can meet up someone in there as you!

Days 4-6 were pretty much the same with my swelling and bruising slowly decreasing. The areas around my eyes, started to turn yellow, which I hoped would go away around the time I had my splint removed. I also had small bruises on my lower cheeks and was feeling uncomfortable pressure around my jaw and generally in my face throughout these days. I also developed a number of painful canker sores in my mouth, which is common when my body undergoes a lot of stress. Those put a damper on my recovery throughout these days– there was so much delicious food in Korea I wanted to eat! I walked outside on occasion to keep the blood flowing, but didn’t really enjoy wearing a mask everywhere and getting curious looks from others in public. It worked out well though, as I had a lot of work to do from the office, so I took care of most of my emails and drafted items to make it easier once I returned to work the following week.

Day 7: The bruising was about half the amount of the previous and this was the day for my cast to come off! I was nervous/excited about this like it was Christmas. And to finally be able to stop wearing a nose cast and mask. The first thing taken care of during my office visit was my consult with Dr. Seul for my mastopexy, which looks great already. He removed some of my stitches and told me the others should be ready for removal on Monday during my last appointment before departure. He also told me I’d have to wear a sports bra for the next 2 months, which is no big deal. No more saggy boobs! Afterward, I went straight to a room where a nurse gently cleaned out my nose, removed my cast, and removed the stitches. It took a long time, but she was so careful that I was relaxed and nearly fell asleep. After the removal, I went straight to the light machine to help Deswell. I didn’t even have a chance by then to check myself out in the mirror. After the light machine session, I went straight to the bathroom to have a good look. I still had some brown/black marks on my face from pre-surgery marker/glue/something that wasn't coming off my nose, but it looked great! Quite swollen, but really great! I was very pleased, it was a subtle change, but also such an amazing difference. Before leaving for the day, I bumped into Yumi who also told me I looked really really good and that it would take about 6 months to see the final result after all the swelling went down. ☺ After the appointment, I felt more energetic than I had all week, and finally (mostly) myself again. I took a long stroll along Garosugil for some lunch and shopping, and walked all the way home.

Day 8-9: I had a friend in town for business and she was the first friend I saw post surgery and one of the few I plan to be honest with about the surgery. She told me I looked great and it was a very subtle difference. I hope that’s true as I’m very nervous about curiosities from friends/colleagues. These days I walked around A LOT, which was great for deswelling. The bruising was also starting to fade significantly. I still suffered from occasional pressure in my face and a feeling of jaw soreness/pain, but that was usually near bedtime and I just went to sleep and woke up feeling fine.

Day 10: Today was my final appointment and date of my departure from Korea. In total, I’ve spent 11 days in Korea, which was the perfect amount of time for both surgeries. As soon as I arrived to JW for my check-up, one of the woman at the reception desk gave me the phone and it was Yumi, who wasn’t working today. She asked what time I was leaving for the airport and offered to have a limo driver take me. Very sweet! After chatting with Yumi, I went in to see Dr. Seul for removal of the final stitches. He also showed me how to tape the incisions, gave recommendations for limiting scars, gave me a prescription to avoid keloid scars, and gave additional advice to optimize the results. He was very thorough and used English, and I was very pleased with the results and great care he also took of me for post-op. I would highly recommend him for mastopexy or augmentation (he has a lot of celebrity clients). After my appointment with Dr. Seul, I waited for Dr. Suh to check on my nose. He came in, looked at my nose, and without warning started to pinch the bridge HARD. I think he could tell it was painful and THEN told me he was going to pinch it and it would be painful. He pinched in a few other places along the bridge, each pinch hurt just as much, and finally finished. I’m usually pretty good at tolerating pain, but that was so unexpected that my eyes started to tear up from the pain. He told me my nose looked great, that I shouldn’t smile big for another month (or the tip would start to droop), and that it’s still really swollen and will be much prettier after the swelling goes down. I smiled and thanked him as a tear ran down my face (lol, from the pinched nose), and he was gone. Dr. Suh is really busy! I think so busy that many other patients are going with Dr. Lee as overflow. But Dr. Suh is really good too, so I can understand as well. Dr. Seul is really busy too, so I was very impressed with his bedside manner and that he still took a lot of time with me pre and post op. Both Dr. Seul and Dr. Suh get excellent reviews from me.

So after the consults, I walked out to the lobby and a guy (I never found out his name) told me in English that we were going to the pharmacy together to get my prescription. I told him I had no idea that he and Yumi both worked at JW as English translators and he told me Yumi is leaving soon and he’s taking over. I wasn’t sure if that meant for good or for vacation. So FYI to ya’ll at JW, this guy may replace Yumi.

That’s my experience with PS in Korea. I think it went really well and I’m very pleased and have no regrets at all. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions or seek advice!

I'm looking to do a very minor revision actually, nothing major. So definitely staying away from the rib for sure. I really appreciate everything that you've explained. It's really informative and I thank you sincerely. Best wishes to you and your new look! =)

If the whole plastic surgery industry is paying commission either to their own staff or broker or translator and medical coordinator . Here we have one person in the whole of Korea claim he did not receive any benefits/ commission . I understand the staff in the PS clinic will receive free make over surgery .Food for thought .

As EverM was the second clinic that I consulted with, I did leave after my consultation. I wasn't asked to pay any fees. Yes, I was concerned about the switching doctoring thing but I was reassured after I found out that there's only one main surgeon there that does the surgeries, the other two there does the stitching and anesthesia. Also, there's only 2 - 3 surgeries booked a day so that made me think that there's only one doctor there operating, if not, there would be many more i suppose..?

Hi all, I'm in Seoul now with turning point, hopefully will be able to meet JJ101 as well. I have been to a person consultation at Regen, Face-line, Dream, and ID hospital for facial contouring. Finally decided to have a mini V-line in ID hospital. Going to keep ya guys updated about the consultation and surgery after it's done! (^_^)

I have heard a lot of similar stories and there really should be some form of negligence or malpractice clause attached to anything we are signing. But I dont think that we should ask doctors what they are going to do, in fact they should voluntarily take the time to explain every step so that we will know. Isn't that what they call informed consent? How can we sign the consent form if they have not "informed" us in the first place. Again, another example.

Just stick to reputable clinics and stay away from those who are obviously in it to make a quick buck and we all will be fine.

Yea thts the thing the whole informed consent thing is not as well emphasised as in west... then again in Asia it's more of the traditional doctor centred consultation than patient centred... so its different I guess... the problem is it's hard to know which are the reputable clinics.. I read since the 1st forum where people were praising clinics like grand bk n id only to know now that those arent exactly the better clinics.. they r popular becuz they are good marketers especially targeted towards the foreign community... I once had high hopes for id hospital until a sudden influx of junior doctors recently and a few messed up jobs.. There were only dr park n his registrar n his orthodontist n his anaesthetist when I checked them up 4 years ago... but now wow... tons of junior docs.... the switching docs rumour doesn't help either

i am also planning to visit korea in few months for PS but im so frustrated because i cannot find a clinic that seems sincere and honest it seems like you can never know which doctor is operating on you and if any mistake happens you cannot sue them for signing a paper before surgery what do you guys think how can we choose the best clinic
everytime i think i have found the one turnes out to be bad in korea and has bad reviews and complaints and if u hire a translator they'll only recommand u places where they get higher comissions like seriously ppl WTF!!
