they charge more because you hired a consultant they have to pay commision
so they charge you the original quote and the commission

I also have wide chin meow! I had considered Vline over and over again but after looking through all the photos i managed to find from china website i decided not to have vline... Seriously i think people who consider doing Vline should really research carefully.

Korea clinic gave like animated video how is vline done. You might want to look at the link below :wtf::wtf: its like chin broken into multi pieces and fixed back. looks very fragile.

Personally despite working at hospital and clinic before i still find these photos abit uncomfortable so .....

Not a fan of OZ clinic but i find that this article relevant for all.
I always like to use OZ price list that is found on their website to know the market rate in korea. Come across this article i think its damm useful . I think not many clinic will even dare to write about it.
Since i will be traveling alone to korea to have plastic surgery done , most people like me will want to hire a translator. Not to translate but to so call take care of them or to have someone available when needed after surgery.

Talk about this i think i should go and find those hostel that have such aftercare! Any lorbang ? Actually i dont mind being quote higher if i were to bring a translator with me and indirectly paying her for taking care of me. But to think about it carefully. This is not the way we should do things. I am still confuse, i might even hire a translator at the end of the day cause its easier. :confused1::confused1:

Anyway i think its good to read the article written by OZ clinic before we made any decision.

medical brokers ? beauty brokers ? plastic surgery dealer ?

medical brokers ? beauty brokers ? plastic surgery dealer ?

Last month, one of my patients showed me the HongKong TV program which showed various cost difference according to the patient.
For example, the cost of double fold surgery was 1,000 USD for Korean patients, 1,500 USD for English speaking patients, 2,000 to 3,000 USD for Chinese speaking patients through translator or medical toursim.
That was a shock and shame.
That's the reason why I started to write this.

As Korea pushes to boost its medical tourism industry, the number of foreign patients who seek treatment in Korea has jumped from 60,201 in 2009 to 122,297 in 2011 according to the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.

Because plastic surgery is not covered by insurance, it is difficult to get an exact number of how many people receive plastic surgery. At least 4,700 foreign patients had plastic surgery in 2010, according to KHIDI.
But I guess the number of foreign patients who undergo plastic surgery is at least quadruple of that number.

Unlike many English speaking foreign patients, many foreign patients who can't speak English (most of them are Chinese) visit Korea though medical toursim company or medical brokers.

Whatever the reason, many customers of medical tourism in Korea seek medical brokers and it became an issue in Korea right now because of rip off and poor quality service.
According to police, many clinics and brokers in KangNam area were caught and fined for violating medical law last year.
The clinics paid 20 to 45 % of the cost of surgery to medical brokers for referrals of patients.
Can you believe this ?
20 to 45 % ?
How can some clinics pay 20 to 45 % of the cost of surgery to brokers ?
The answer is simple; they raised the cost 20 to 50 % to the foreigners through medical brokers and paid the rest to the medical brokers.
Fee-splitting is obviously illegal in the medical industry.

Let's see the system of medical tourism a little bit closer from the viewpoint of medical tourism company.

1. cut the cost ?
Do you believe medical brokers can cut the cost because they know which clinics are more practical with the same service or they can negotiate the cost instead of you by group dealing ?
If yes, you are too innocent.
They contact many clinics first and ask the clinics about referral incentives.
They refer their patients to the clinics which can give more incentives because they should make a living for this.
They don't know which clincs are better and they don't care about that.
The only factor of choosing the clinic is incentive.
I also receive tons of querry from medical brokers and translators about incentive everyday.

2. Better surgeon ?

Do you believe medical brokers can find better surgeons instead of you because they have more information and experience in this field ?
Medical brokers usually prefer big clinics instead of small clinics because they look better.
Big clinics have translators, more service persons, fancy interiors, and look better indeed in the viewpoint of patients.
But, big and renowened clinics have many employees including many inexperienced doctors and spend a lot of money in advertising which should be compensated.
So, they should earn more money by running their clinics like factory even if they give more incentives to brokers.
Big or renowened clinics don't mean top surgeons.
Medical tourism company usually works with renowened or big clinics, but the real top surgeons are in another league; they don't pay that kind of high incentives, they don't sell their pride as good doctors so cheap, and they don't need that.

3. Better service ?

Do you believe medical brokers can give you more service because they have some connection with some clinics ?
Big clinics can afford better service like free rooms, free airport pickup, free translation service to their patients.
But is it really free ?
There is no free lunch.
That kind of service charge is always melted in the cost of surgery and that's the reason why they charge more to foreign patients even if they came by themselves (not through medical toursim company).

Now, can you understand the mechanism of medical tourism ?
Can you understand why I hate medical brokers and advertisement ?

My clinic was built on words of mouth referrals.
One person's good experience with me has led to many more and I try my best to every patient.
As far as I am concerned, this is something that I am proud of and this is what I can tell my story to my family.
Even if I can't hire many doctors, can't build skyscrapper, and can't be the most famous plastic surgeon, I have no problem in making a living and I'm content with my clinic.
I just want to help people feel good about themselves by changing their shape.

PS)
This doesn't mean that all medical brokers are swindlers.
I know that there are some good and conscientious medical brokers and I respect them and I know that they are needed.
If this writing offended them, I'm really sorry for that.

After my almost to died incident in jw clinic and also the problem that I face with my translator, she is not a good help if anything goes wrong and did not keep her promise. Finally more people is aware of it and post in the forum instead of other forum accused me . Having said that I also know a few that refuse to pay after engaging the translator service . The conclusion is very simple please hire a license medical coordinator that provide a VIP service inducing translation and escort service for for those who can afford . Those who cannot afford just go without one and don't complaint
