So I'm thinking that view might be my top choice maybe... Still doing to try ID out. Just cos they stuffed up one case, doesn't mean other clinics never make the same errors, it's all about weighing risks really.

Yeah, I feel like a lot of girls that get intense v-line surgeries run the risk of looking like other girls who've done the same surgery. Like... I can't tell a lot of ulzzangs apart because of that reason. At first, I actually thought a most of them were related! Not trying to be racist, because I'm Asian myself, but there's only so much you can do to make one V-line look different than the other. But to be fair, I think we only really see the similarities because we compare them in the first place. If they were in a place like America, I feel like their look would stand out as different, so I'm not too worried about getting a v-line that looks like everyone else's. So long as it's natural and looks good, I'm happy, because I know that realistically, people won't be comparing me to other girls who've had v-line surgery in Korea lol.

But I'd love a thin, oval face, or an "egg line" as Koreans call it LOL. That face type really does go well with any hairstyle, but I don't think it'd be possible with my face.

And I couldn't agree more. I may have decided not to go to ID, but come January when I actually go to Korea, I'll probably still check them out just because I know Dr. Park has the experience.

The first clinic I went to was dream. The front of the clinic is very small, and the day I went it was filled with girls waiting. I noticed they had all bandaged noses, about 8 girls, one in particular looked very young, no older than 16 and was with her mom. I met with the shil-jang-neem (manager) and showed her a picture of what I wanted my eyes to look like. She took a thin metal pick and started to get a better idea of my eyelid. She said that what I wanted was not possible and said that most other doctors would agree.

I felt very discouraged and sad at the news. I had flown all this way and to hear that it woulnt be possible....

So I went to the next clinic, Regen. It is a very nice clinic with advertisements as soon as you enter. It is much larger than Dream and played very nice music. The workers though, in my opinion were my very attractive at all. Not to be judgmental, but I would think workers at a plastic surgery clinic would be more plastic looking. I met again with the main consultant and showed her the picture. She took much longer and said that what I wanted wouldn't be possible, but there would be other options. We spent a while looking at different options and she suggested to have incision technique and also cut the inner and outer corners of my eyes (because I have a Mongolian fold). She also suggested that I be put to sleep. This bothered me a tad as I wasn't expecting to be put asleep because I had a not so great experience with anesthesia when doing my breast augmentation. Also, I don't think a small surgery like double eyelid surgery should required being put to sleep. After some time, I met with the specialist and he had a look at my eyes. He took a while using the metal device to see what my eyelids look like and what suggestions he had. I did like his suggestions and was willing to I thru with the surgery.

I met again with the consultant and she said that I would need a day to prep for the surgery, as in no eating the day before and also no liquids and what not. A part of me felt not 100% sure because it still bothered me that I would have to be put to sleep. I asked if I could have a day to think about it, and she said that because the schedule is quite full, that if I wanted to save the time slot, I would have to pay a deposit. I didn't like this idea as I still had another clinic to go to. She was very insistent that I pay a 10% deposit. My total had come to 2500 usd, which was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend. I told I would let her know in an hours time because I just didnt feel completely sold. So I left.

The next clinic was Teium. This clinic is very clean and welcoming. There is complimentary tea and coffee in the waiting room and also 2 computers as well. I signed my papers and met with the dr right away. The dr mumbled the whole time so it was really hard or me to understand what he was saying. He had suggested suture method and also tighten my eyelid muscles so that when I open my eyes they would be opened up much stronger. He also suggested cutting on both the inner and outer corner. He was quite persuasive I must say, as he made me want to get suture method because he said it would take less time to heal. So I met with the consultant, who in my opinion was the prettiest out of all the clinics.

We bargained but the price had come up to $2600 usd. I probably would've gone with this clinic if it had not been so Expensive. This to me wasn't worth it, especially for a method that has a chance of coming undone. I know people who have had suture technique and it had come undone so they had to get it redone. It's not the fact of having to redo it that bothered me, but more the fact that it is so difficult for me to put time and money aside to fly to Korea and find a place to stay!

I told them I would think about it and left. I felt really discouraged and lost a lot of hope. Before my trip I was so excited and now I was beyond depressed. My top 3 clinics had failed me! So I called oz clinic. I had originally short listed oz but then changed my mind and wasn't going to visit them.... But I decided at this point I had nothing to lose. I made an appointment for oz later that evening.

Oz clinic was a 5 minute cab ride away from all the other clinics in Apgujeong. It was hard to find as it is only 1 floor in a building that also has other plastic surgery clinics. I went in and it was quite small and only one worker in the front, versus 3-4 at the others. I met with the dr right away and told him what I wanted. He wasn't as talkative as I expected but he was very straight forward. He told me I would need partial incision and inner corner cutting. I asked him about the other methods the diff drs had mentioned and he sai I didn't need it. He understands the difficulty for me to come to Korea and suggested I get a more permanent approach. He also said that if anything happens, revision would be free of charge. I thought it was a bit wierd that he didnt really explain much, but I aske him the price and he quoted me 1650 usd. I wasn't 100% sold on him but the fact that he was willing to give me exactly what I wanted at a reasonable cost appealed to me. So I made an appointment for surgery the following day.

That night I had a lot of doubt and unease. Did I make the right decision? There are 100's upon 100's of other plastic surgery clinics... I couldn't help but wonder if I should Atleast go to a few more before going thru with my surgery. Then I kind of panicked... I began frantically looking at other clinics that I had remembered reading in the forum. I looked up JW, mega, and a few other clinics. That morning I had made a Botox appointment at a clinic in Apgujeong, so I figured if I had time I would stop by another clinic.

The dermatologist was so nice and seemed so professional so I asked him if he knew of good plastic surgery clinics BC I was so at unease about my experience.

He explained to me that plastic surgeons are like artists. Their interpretations of beauty are all different. He said that no matter where I choose, I should be given a face to face consultation and be able to fully express my concerns. There are a lot of clinics that treat people like robots and basically try to do as many surgeries as possible for financial benefit. He said that we should be treated as people and not dollar signs as many clinics may see us. This is our bodies and faces after all! And we are all uniquely different! The best way for us to find a dr is by askin for before and after photos... And asking to see pictures of people who have done the same procedures as us or have similar characteristics. Because the drs have different views, we want to ensure that there isn't any misunderstandings and that we are on the same page with them about what kind of an outcome we want.

I had slight doubt with oz... But also felt that because he does deal with a lot of foreigners, he would understand the look I am going for as I don't think the typical Korean style look would suit me.

So I arrive at oz, ready for my surgery. The front desk worker was very nice and put me at ease and prepped me for the surgery. I was very nervous but she said it would be okay. I took before pictures and sat in the chair.

I'm not going to lie... The anesthesia injections hurt quite a bit. The surgery itself went fine but near the end, I thinn some of the anesthesia wore off and I felt some of the sewing on my left eye. What I absolutely love about oz, was the fact that the front desk lady sat beside me and held my hand the complete surgery. Even tho I don't know her, having that support was absolutely amazing. She held my hand and massaged my arm from time to time. This was probably what made the surgery much more comfortable. Words can't explain how appreciative I am of her!

The surgery itself was only 40 minutes but I spent 20 mins in the recovery room with an ice pack on my eyes. I walked by a mirror and took a quick glance at myself. I was a bit mortified... I was scared my eyes looked too close together because of the cutting of inner corner, and my eyes were blowfish like swollen! I have never felt so ugly in my life! I tried not to freak out tho as I know the swelling would go down. I had prepared a hat and sunglasses to wear once I left

Because of the ice pack, my vision was very blurry and it was hard to make out numbers and words on the subway. Luckily my mom was with me the whole time so I held onto her. I highly suggest not being alone after surgery as you might feel a bit vulnerable.

The surgery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I just took 1 pain killer that night.

Tomorrow I am going back to oz to checkup... It will be day 2 of post op. my eyes are even more swollen than yesterday and have developed some bruising. I can't wait for the bruising to go down and see what the outcome is!

Hey shugs, thank you so much for writing such a detailed account of your experience! I felt like I was there with you lol. I hope your healing is going well. I'm really glad your experience at OZ was overall positive. I think it's so sweet that the front desk lady held your hand throughout the entire surgery. Small things like that really make me think that the clinic genuinely cares about their patients. Please keep us posted on how you're doing.

And I couldn't agree more about taking your time with consultations! If you're not confident with any of the clinics you've consulted with, then it won't hurt to spend an extra day looking around at other clinics. Consultations are such an important part of the process, there are a lot of locals that actually spend weeks to months taking their time comparing different clinics. We don't have this luxury as foreigners, so every day counts. Go to as many clinics as you can!

Haha yeah, them ulzzangs don't look as striking as models. Personally, I think Jessica Stam for eg, is quite stunning. She looks like a doll!

Yes, us Asians will never look that different from each other, so I guess all you can hope for is good results that complements your features. I don't want to look like a mannequin, just a much hotter version of me hehe. I have one and a half lol) dimples on my cheeks so hope when they cut away my tragic jawline, I'll emerge a swan. Does your friend look really pretty now? Oh yeah since she had real drastic changes, did she have any trouble with customs?

To everyone who has gone to Korea and has done PS I am in need of your help/ advice...

I am leaving for Korea in 1 week and I wanted to ask what you all did when it came to taking money overseas and paying for the PS. My initial plan was to cash out enough money to pay for my surgery and trip and take the load of cash with me into the plane (split between me & my boyfriend so I don't have to declare the money). But my boyfriend is suggesting that I take out a traveler's check instead for safety reasons. Then I can cash out my check in Korea which will reduce the risk of losing the cash enroute to Korea. & as far as changing currency, where do you suggest I change currencies? I have noted a beauty chain called Face Clinic does money exchange for no commission as well as Casino at Coex Mall. Can anyone suggest any other places to exchange large sums of money for the best rate?

How did you guys go about doing this? All suggestions and comments welcome! I need to hurry up and decide by this Wednesday! Thanks in advance!

P.S. Are there any public gyms my boyfriend can utilize during our stay in Korea? I know some sauna spas have some gyms available, but anyone know of any other options?

my healing is going well... the swelling went down A LOT (thank goodness)
and now i just walk around with fake glasses and no makeup and people can't really tell. the first day i walked around with shades and a hat lol

consultation is DEFINATELY the most important part...
it's funny because before i went, i was so sure on Regen or Dream! but when i came, it all changed!
so def do your homework, but make notes on what the dr is suggesting and how they make you feel when u meet with them! and also make sure you do infact meet with the dr! (this may seem obvious, but some clinics you only meet with the consultant)

in Apgujeung, they are literally side by side, walking distance. so i booked 3 in a row, giving each clinic 1 hour and walked to the next.

hmm, i'm not sure how travelers checks work, but i was pretty worried about carrying such a large amount of cash. i took it in CDN (because i'm from canada) but some places accept USD (well Oz i know did) ... I exchanged it at Nong de-moon shi jang... which is like an outdoor market at a currency exchange stand. she gave me 1 CDN = 1070 KRW which was pretty good considering the Korean currency is continuously dropping. The airport and banks weren't as good with rates.

I just carried my cash in the largest demonimation, and kept them in a zip pocked close to my body. that way i would feel for it every hour or so just to make sure lol

i'll ask my gf whos a local about gyms! i know she wants to join a gym too but i heard her say it's pretty expensive! i'll let you know if i find anything else out

Currently im just restrict my diet, eat moderately 3 times (because i need to consume medicine) haha. Overall experience in korea been great , nicole is great too! so glad i have her T-T
Yes, doctor will offer you more like the skin clinic, i merely wanted those simple things but gee they offer me a general solution of ulthera, luckily I decided not to do right away!

Oh and my another friend just visited view clinic and she said its quite expensive hence she went to another alternatives. Website is there for the sole purpose of attracting customer, so obviously they only put the pretty+less pain looking ones. ( i noticed the healing diary of the patient is a bit unreal, no body looks that painless on few days after jaw, trust me she did jaw too and she didnt look like so!) did you have discharge of fluids from your wounds? How about hardness, swelling and bruises? And how bad was the pain? rI'm considering liposuction on my thighs. Still have many doubts in my mind. Thanks for your answers!

Hi everyone,

I've been receiving questions about my research from Korean cafes, and have had people ask me to send them an updated list. I was going to wait until all of my inquiries were answered and filled in in the document, but I decided to upload what I do have so far.

I got kicked out of my Naver account before because I sent a lot of people messages in a little time span (like 150 messages in 15 minutes), so Naver thought I was a spamming robot lol. By the time I was able to get my account back (my friend had to call customer service), all of the messages I got were deleted. So I had to start from square one. Now, in case I get kicked out again, I've added photos to my reviews lol. It should also be easier for some people, as you won't need to have a Naver account to see the B&A's.
