sanmi
cheekbone reduction is it the same as Zygoma reduction?? M so confused. :wondering as I had my teeth done nicely in SG, and the korea docs told me that I need 2-jaw surgery, M thinking hard now. need to wear braces and cut the jaw bone. was thinking of jaw line surgery if can hv similar results but less invasive yet effective. . In two-jaw surgery, a total of four teeth (2 upper, 2 lower) are extracted, dental bone are resected through the extracted sites, and then the bones are pushed back with both remaining teeth and gingival. In addition, since teeth alignment is adjusted, orthodontic treatments should be followed in order to keep the upper and lower teeth in balance. The surgical plan varies on the degree of protrusion and asymmetry therefore, extensive preoperative analysis and precise surgical planning are required. which clinics is in ur list now? I hv a few in mind but 2 of them i cant email them as their web is in Korea with no email add. if engage translators, then can go there for consultation but only 3 clinics. thinking to go to korea next mar-april, how abt u? the more buddies, the merrier. can look out for each other. anrisu
Thanks Fantasyface for sharing. Scary how doctors can straight up lie to make a quick buck! At least your translator was honest. She/he sounds like a good person. Do you mind saying which translator(s) you used?
cherrykiss
Similar enough I think. I think zygoma is more specific to the sides of the cheekbone but yea that's what I meant too. Yea 2 jaw is so extreme... I'll consult with the doctors but I don't see another way to fix all my issues. Currently I'm considering Regen, View and Face-line. BTW, anyone have email for Face-line or View? I'm thinking about going Feb/March. I'm attending a big event in June so I want to be sure I can smile comfortably and not be stiff by that time lol! Right now I'm just scrambling to get the funds and prepare. I'll definitely be contacting translators but haven't started on that yet. I'm still finalizing my dates. Any chance you may consider moving up the date? No I'm not from SP, but I am Chinese if that counts for anything... I have a very typical large and flat face
winterntht
Wow, the thread is moving so fast now. As some of you are wondering whether translators take commission fee from clinics, why don't you just ask the clinics directly, easy and simple! If the clinics have in-house translators, they would tell us not to bring our translators so that they don't have to pay commission fee. I don't see any reason why the clinics have to hide this from us. I live in Europe and where I live, it is a common practice that referral fee is paid to the introducers who bring clients to their clinics and they are very transparent about this. For example, if my dentist refers me to a specialist then the specialist has to pay referral fee to my dentist. They are transparent about this and I even know how much it is. It is a small fee though, not as much as 10% or 20% as someone mentioned and that's the business between them, which would not affect the price we have to pay. I do believe that plastic translators in Korea get commission fee from clinics. That's the reason why they need to take you to the initial consultations and they refuse if you only want them to help in follow-up visits. If they just work as translators, their job is just to translate what the doctors/staff say so it doesn't make sense when they say they have to know your plans from the beginning. Thinking like this, a translator only charge less than $100 for consultations at 3 different clinics, which take up a whole day, then they have to be with you on your surgery day and a few follow-up visits, which add up to at least another day of their time. So basically, they earn $50/day and if they work 6 days/week, they can only earn $1200/month, which is a very very low income for those who can speak English fluently and have a lot of knowledge about plastic surgeries. This is not to mention that it is not easy to always have clients to fill up 100% of their time. When I had surgery in Korea before, my clinic helped me to find a translator. They called a few professional companies and all the companies charged $200-300/day so if you need them on the consultation day, surgery day and 2 follow ups, you have to pay around $800 in total, which is not cheap. My clinic then found someone for me, who was not a professional translator, she was only a Korean student who can speak English and I still had to pay her $100/day and I needed to hire her for 3 days, surgery day and 2 follow-up visits. Therefore, there is no way a professional translator charges only $100 for everything if they don't get commission from clinics. Back to Zoe, I don't want to make any comments about her but this is what happened to me. I emailed her before I booked my flight tickets to ask her and tell her my plans, just to make sure that she is available on the day I arrive. She emailed back telling me ok so I went ahead to buy my tickets, book accommodation. The when everything had been booked, I emailed her again, asking her if she can help me to visit 3 more clinics and I am happy to pay extra fee, thinking that if she charges $100/day for 3 clinics then I am willing to pay $200/ 2 days to visit 6 clinics and if she says no then I will visit 3 clinics myself without using a translator. She then emailed me back saying that she could not help me anymore. I didn't know what to say! She can do like that because there is no contract between me and her but this is not my style and not a professional way of doing business. I believe there are tons of translators out there who can be much better than Zoe but we just don't know how to get to them and they don't know how to get to us. It is funny now that a lot of people need Zoe so it feels like she is the one who choose her customers, not the other way round as it should be. I am just thinking that in the future, there may be a lot of people who go to Korea to do plastic surgeries and the clinics would have a lot of customers so they would only choose to do surgeries for those who don't ask many questions, who don't seem to be high maintenance customers and who would agree with whatever the doctors suggest! I do hope that there will be a website that gathers translators so that we will have more options and do not have to rely heavily on one or two translators. I am now still looking for a translator so if anyone know any good translators, please recommend.

cicwang
generally, how long before you can fly back home? I'm not asking about full recovery time, but how long do you stay before you can return home to recover? I want to go in December for nasal tip, but the fewer days the better. kangest
According to consultants that I have seen. They said one week closed surgery. Two weeks open surgery for removing stitches. Although I have heard of ppl Getting stitches removed by their own dr in their own country. If you are ok with traveling on the plane with stitches. cherrykiss
I stayed about 10 days but wish it was longer. It's best to stay as long as you can. In case you have questions or emergencies. Unlikely but it's nice to know the doctors 5 miles away vs 5000

crystallinesnow
I think you should stay two weeks, usually it takes awhile for the swelling and the 'plastic' look to die down. For my jaw surgery, I'm planning to stay around 3.
