Has anybody tried Pitangui?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, we were supposed to go with my mom's friend's daughter but she had school and just caught up with us after her class. It really does help if you personally know someone who speaks korean and english, but if I were to choose. I'd just go to clinic that has someone who speaks english. Better travel with your family instead of hiring a translator.

Yeah I saw that ad too. That's why I didn't book for a surgery right away because of the discount and "added popularity." ha ha ha I guess that's the reason why they don't share b/a pics as well.

When will you book yours?

I will book my surgery within 1~3 days after the consultation. Would like to have a bit of fun walking around and eating before I spend the remainder of my trip all bandaged up and swollen hahaha!

If the consultation goes well with Pitangui, I'd take up the offer straight away since I don't see myself going again anytime soon. To be honest, the lack of English/foreign reviews was a bit unsettling but my boyfriend managed to find some on Naver cafe. He read about 10+ positive experiences from locals who went with them and also found out a couple of celebrities had work done there. Guess there's nothing much to worry about now. :yahoo:
I also browsed through their Naver blog and found a series of videos where Dr Yoo talked with 2 hosts.. Haven't showed them to my bf so I am not sure what it's about yet.

Luckily my return tickets are flexible so I am able to change the date/time of my return flight. Just 1 week left until my visit to Pitangui! I am getting more and more excited about it.

Good for you! I didn't book for a surgery because my mom said that it would be best if we go back so that I'll have more time to heal and recover. But knowing my mom, I think that she want to get something fixed as well and is only thinking about how long it will take her to recover. ha ha!

I saw that too but I don't know what's it all about either. I remember Nicole saying that celebs had surgery there as well but she didn't mention their names. I don't know if it's part of the Pitangui confidentiality agreement or something. It is reassuring in some aspects, but we just got to hope for the best. I'm just riding on their reputation and longevity and the fact that Dr. Yoo himself will do our operations.

I'm excited for you too!! Where will you be staying again? There are a couple hotels near the clinic.

That's a good idea! Your mom sounds like my mom, hahaha. She mentioned that she might be interested in fat grafting and facelift in a couple of years.

Apparently, the videos are talking about how to keep their skin in the best condition while playing golf. Yeah, they've got to be doing something right if they are still around after 25+ years and can manage to make their clinic look like a palace (from the photos).

Although I do find it peculiar that they don't hire more surgeons/specialists (each for eyes, rhino, contouring etc). Not complaining though, it's great the director himself is performing the surgeries.

Thank you!! I'll be staying in Dongdaemun for the first week since we want to be near the shopping areas and attractions. I'll probably move to somewhere near the clinic if I don't follow my bf back to his hometown. Where did you stay?

How cute! Yeah, I think that she wants to do a facelift or just have fillers if she's scared.

We stayed at my mom's friend's house at Jamsil dong and hitch a ride with her in the morning when she went to work. In we'd stay out all day and then meet up with her at the Coex for dinner before heading back to her place.

But i think that it's a little too far to stay before and after the surgery so my mom and I looked for nearby hotels. There's Youngdong and Highland which is about $30 cheaper/night. But my mom's friend said that she'll take a leave whenever we come back to help us both out. So kind of her to offer.

I was wondering the same thing as well. Like other clinics have "specialists" but since he's operating then I wouldn't worry since he has at least double the amount of experience compared to younger clinics. That was one of the most appealing factor for me.

Yes they do. The pictures they show really were transformational. You can go for a more conservative approach if you want, but what's the use of getting surgery if you're going for anything subtle right? It's like getting a boob job only wanting half sizes instead of going up a full cup. It's not like they're gonna force you to change your whole face. :noworry: I think that they just did those to show how an "ordinary" person can look like an instant celebrity/model.

Do you know how much discount they give and if we really need to have a similar "transformation" to become their model? Heck! I'd love to audition. :woohoo:

I had a few of those on my shortlist before I chose where to go.

Every surgery has its risks. Although slim, the point that its there still gives us something to worry about. However, if you don't find the courage to look past those risks, you'll never be able to get anything done.

Each material has its own pros and cons, each has its associated risks. Those risks are increased even more in the hands of doctors who aren't board-certified. But then again, in the hands of a well-experienced surgeon, those risks are diminished.

I think you should be more worried about making sure that your expectations match with the doctor you chose because rhinoplasties have the highest rate of revisions among all the other surgeries.

That was one of the things I wondered myself when I started looking for clinics to go to. I think that the PS boom came somewhere in the mid 2000s with "bigger" and "newer" clinics being funded by the government. They just didn't seem to keep up with the K-pop hype. I think seoulforreal mentioned a similar gov-funding on the main thread as well.

I actually don't know if it's popular with locals or non-koreans like ourselves. I didn't ask them and I doubt if they'd give me an exact stat of how many patients they get day in and day out. But now that you've mentioned it, is popularity the standard we should go by?

Come to think of it, I was actually interested about PS in Brazil (back in the day I was obsessed with a Brazilian butt lift). I kept on seeing Dr. Ivo Pitanguy's name pop up in the search results and when I put him and Korea together, I found the Pitangui clinic page.

yes i totally agree with what you said.i kinda believe in words of mouth but i have never seen pitangui being mentioned in purseforum. (and i think you're the first who started it heh!)

i know this clinic by sending an email to eunjin(or nicole) by not knowing she has already stopped working in wonjin cause' i was actually trying to email wonjin. to my surprise she answers all my questions patiently without hesitation. i used to email other clinics but they stopped replying after further replying of mine and i am impressed by services of pitangui. and so i'm curious, since it is the oldest clinic but why can't i get more information about it?i really wonder. i have never been there but i'm planning to go to korea by next year.

however, i'm glad that you've been there already. i'm pleased that you're so willing to share your experiences with us!

I remember my friend said that it is popular among locals and that they do get their fair share of international clients because there were always a few whenever she went in for aftercare. I think it's not only about their communication but the fact that Dr. Yoo trained in Brazil and had a lot of experience on Caucasian faces.

You are right about word of mouth, but like most caution here, there are a lot of people with hidden agendas and motives.

@kianpark17 popularity is a factor because people wouldn't want to go to a place that's not making headlines.

But I think that Pitangui's longevity must mean that they are popular because they would've been out of business if they weren't getting any clients right?

Can't find the following: if anyone has the following information or would like to add to this list, please copy and paste it. Thank you!

Banobagi and JW are more popular on FB.

BK, Grand, ID, Item, Teium and the rest are popular here on the forum.

Does this mean that it's "popular" because of fake accounts here on the forum since they're not on FB or has little likes?
