Fat Grafting In Korea

I wanted to start a thread on the infamous FAT GRAFTING. I am interested in getting this procedure done for a more 'youthful' appearance.

Anyone here done it? Had a consultation? Positive/Negative Reviews?
I follow a blogger who just recently had it done in Korea, and her results make her look much more young and fresh...

Stem cell fat graft is a marketing tool; a way to get an edge over the competitors. Adults have very little stem cells in a few organs but not fat. You are born with specified number of fat cells. They either grow in size or shrink unless you do lipo to remove them. [Keep in mind when you remove fat from say your stomach and you gain weight, that "fat" has to go somewhere and that's usually the hips.] Anyway, back to stem cell fat graft, stem cells are available in the brain, bone marrow, peripheral blood, blood vessels, skeletal muscle, skin, teeth, heart, gut, liver, ovarian epithelium, and testis. Other organs may have it but very very little amount.

A stem cell fat graft is essentially the same procedure as a regular fat graft, tweaked slightly.

The first step is exactly the same for both procedures (liposuction of donor site to produce fat used for transplant). The main difference lies in the fact that after liposuction, the fat sample used in stem cell grafts is enriched in stem cells through further processing in the laboratory (Keep in mind that stem cells are present naturally in fat, the lab processing just concentrates them). This means that the fat injected into you face in a stem cell fat graft procedure will contain more stem cells per mililitre or gram of fat then a regular fat graft.

Why is a higher concentration of stem cells important? Peer-reviewed scientific studies have shown that stem cell enriched fat grafts have enhanced survival/volume retention rates vs traditional stem cell non-enriched fat grafts. This means that more of the fat injected into you face will remain after the reabsorption and de-swelling phase. This is why clinics will quote higher percentage retention rates for stem cell vs regular fat grafts, and also why pricing is significantly higher for stem cell fat grafting.

Personally I'm still undecided as to which one I want done. Stem cell fat transplants may mean that the chance of needing a second transplant is reduced, but IMO a touch up should be anticipated for all fat grafts because reabsorption happens, which may cause asymmetry. Also, from my research the prices I've been quoted for stem cell fat graft are 2x regular fat graft.

ALL fat grafts should be considered semi-permanent because the transplanted (and natural) fat is affected by aging and weight loss. We naturally lose fat and muscle volume as we age, so if you want to maintain facial volume, you need touching up years down the road. However, definitely not as often as artificial fillers like juvederm or restylane. There is no such thing as permanent facial fillers, whether fat grafts or artificial fillers.

I don't think I'm allowed to message anyone yet. I probably need a few more posts. But how did your friends' fat grafting go? Which clinic did she go to? If you can, do you have before and after pictures maybe?

Lexethan, you seem to know a lot about fat graft! I have a question I hope you don't mind answering. Uh, why is it a more preferred option on cheeks than a mid-face augmentation for those under their 40s?

I did full face fat grafting. Forehead, cheek, and upper eyelid. I love it! It is three weeks post op for me. I like nature looking, so I told my surgeon to make it nature looking. I don't know how much my fat will absorb, but it really does not matter that much to be honest. I mean at least some will stay, right? And you will look better than before anyway.
I am in my early twenties, but after this fat grafting, I look even younger. This is great! Fat grafting is super popular in Seoul.
I did mine at Regen. It is said though for better result, you should do it for a second time after 3-4 months.
If you are only interested in fat grafting, maybe you should check out faceline. I feel that Dr Lee is very good at it. Just be sure to tell him maybe not put too much, because I looked at their B&A pictures and I feel they like that fuller face look. LOL.
And one foumer told me that Cinderella is good. Her friend did it at Cinderella and most of the fat stayed. I am very intrigued, but it was after I have done mine at Regen.
Still, I feel fat grafting is easy procedure, normally people just get it done together with other surgeries. For example, if you do your nose, then the surgeon for your nose could do the fat grafting for you. Fat grafting is to make your final result perfect, you know, to make your face more balanced and 3D

Shes got very good results! My friend actually tried fillers, which is an alternative to fat grafting. Her results are pretty good as well but only lasts a year.

Some posts I've read made it sound like the fat would completely disappear within a year or two. I hope it lasts longer than that. I went through a lot for it to be that temporary.

Unfortunately, doctor said it will last probably abt 2 yrs. I assume when they say that,it is maximum time for fat to stay
