yes fillers will always have to be retouched... but they seem safe, at least the three, restylane juvederm and so on, they can be instantly removed if they are done wrong and should not cause any permanent problems ^^ i have just heard of so many people getting fat grafting for eyes, nose, lips, everywhere, small places... i always think if it's a small place it's easier, less risk... but maybe not? maybe fat is too big and the lumpiness is worse for a smaller area... i don't know, i wish i knew... and i have read that fat grafting results can be permanent and it has to be removed surgically if it goes wrong...

yeah . i hav seen some of the reviews fr other websites. fat grafting at lips cheeks below the eyes usually forms a small lump. hav to remove surgically . this maybe due to doctors who are nt experenced in doing fat grafting .only fat grafting at the forehead will giv the best result . the other areas im nt so sure . =)

Hi jade,

I was wondering if you'd be able to give me some advice. I've been quoted 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 KRW for nose filler in Pitangui (I haven't sent them a photo of my nose), do you think it is over priced as you paid 750,000 KRW for yours?

A family member if mine had the Lao band.....here in the USA ...in fact in elk Grove village Illinois.

My sisterinlaw went to Poland for breast implants ....she had to have them redone here in h USA, a hospital in Chicago , Illinois.......she looks fantastic.

I have had several surgery ....over the past 15 years ......my plastic surgery office in west Dundee Illinois....I am so very happy with every Procedure they have done.
I Also have fillers every year ( I stay away from my lips) just personal preference .

I my views research your Dr, talk about all your concerns you can even go on forums to no what to expect......I have had plastic surgery, I am not embarrassed to admit it, and because I feel my surgeon is so wonderful, my work has turned out great....I am thrilled......the best advise I can give is do your research, educate yourself .......the more you learn the more comfortable you and your r will feel.

Maybe LVMom is here in America, like me, or Europe. We hear all the time that fat grafting is unpredictable, and the results can make you look deformed because surgeons here don't do it, so they don't know how. There's a specialist in NYC who does fat grafting for people who have lost all their facial fat to AIDS, but he charges around $20-50,000 for full face fat grafting. I know this is a common cosmetic procedure in Korea, so that's probably why you don't hear about a lot of mistakes other than it not lasting. I have a friend who had fat grafting to her lips in Japan several years ago and they still look full and beautiful.
Over here doctors are very skilled with hyaluronic acid fillers, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Radience, Sculptra, Perlane, Belotero..... there are so many different kinds and doctors here use each one for a different area depending on how deep into the skin it gets injected. These fillers aren't foolproof either, I've had good and bad results depending on the doctor, but it is nice that there's a solution that can be injected to dissolve it if you don't like the results.
The thing that most surprised me when I first got it was how hard it is. It isn't like fat at all, it's more like squeezing a gummi bear, and you can feel every gummi lump when you touch your face. You shouldn't be able to see it, but you can feel it when you wash your face & if you get it in your lips your boyfriend can tell when he kisses you.

I've had Restylane and Perlane injected to my cheeks, paranasal areas, under eye hollows, and upper eyelids. It cost me around $3K altogether, which is somewhat steep, but I went to a good surgeon who knew his stuff. My face is still kind of hollow, but it was extremely gaunt beforehand, and I was happy for a quick fix that could be just as quickly reversed.

The only issues I've had so far are some lumpiness in my cheeks (from the Perlane), which might be scar tissue or a granuloma (not sure which, no major problems), but because my cheek skin is thick you can't see it. My surgeon also overfilled my upper eyelids (I prodded him to, so it's mostly my fault), but he was able to dissolve the filler with Hyaluronase.

I'd like to try fat, but it's a longer procedure (need to lipo, clean, and reinject the fat) and can get messy in the wrong hands.

You mean filler in the chin will change your smile permanently, or only during swollen post op phase?
I don't have a nice smile but I do like it because it's natural
Do you know how long this could last?
Thank you Whyar

Hi travelling99,
Could you please tell me if fillers injected in your paranasal areas work? I mean if they make you look younger? How long the fillers last? Did they change your smile?
I'm considering fillers for my paranasal lines too, because mines are so hollow. They bother me alot everytime I look myself in the Mirror, but I don't want to risk my smile to get them fixed
Thank you

I'm new here but just checked this thread out. I'm a 30 year old guy (Eurasian mix) and have been using fillers for about six years now (tried it with some of the best clinics in LA, NY, London and Seoul). Here's what I have done and what I liked and didn't...

- Restylane Sub-Q along jaw and deep beneath cheeks. Lasts for ages (more than 18 months I have experienced) and perfect for those who are naturally on the skinny side (it's the closest injectable to fat grafting I would say). I'm getting fat graft in forehead and temples later this year but (should I ever need a top up in my mid-face area, I'll stick with Sub-Q -- really love it).

- Restylane Perlane in chin. This is good if you need just a small boost in the area but doesn't provide enough volume if you have a very weak chin. Only really lasts for a few months (think of the amount of movement that area does). I would recommend it if you want to try enhancing your chin once before investing in an implant, but don't waste your money on any more than that (which is what I have stupidly done for over two years -- should have just got the implant in the first place! Oh well - getting that done in October now)

- Perlane for aegyosal / smile bands under eyes. This looked brilliant initially and I stuck with it for about 18 months (even getting a top up at the 10 month mark) however it takes too long to break down if you're unhappy with it and, unfortunately for me, the product started to migrate below my smile bands and ended up making the area look puffy. Had to have it dissolved with hyaluronidase.

- Sculptra for temple area. This is great and has lasted a couple of years for me, but I will do a proper fat graft next time as there are risks with lumpiness (on my right temple I can feel -- but definitely not see -- a little grain-sized bump of the stuff under the skin when I rub it). You also don't get instant results with it. I had to build it up over two sessions to make my temples smooth.

- Perlane for nose. I've had rhinoplasty (about 5-6 years ago) but still get a little Perlane on one part of my nose bridge to make it perfectly straight. Lasts for ages and is a brilliant product for tweaking.

Hi tuneup, Thanks for your thorough review. Would like to get more opinion from you. My face is slightly asymmetric which makes my lips looks slanted, and my under-eye band makes me look like I have dark circles.

I'm actually debating between fat grafting and Restylane Sub-Q on lower cheek, would you please let me know why you'd prefer Restylane over FG? Also for undereye, I think FG is even riskier than Perlane, that's why I think I'll go with Perlane. But your migration problem is kinda worrying. What's your opinion on this?

Thanks!

Hi davincci,

The reason I had fillers in my mid-face and jaw area is because while my cheekbones are a decent height/shape, my face had a habit of looking a little on the gaunt side (regardless of my body weight). I had consults at various clinics in Seoul -- some recommended fillers and others recommended FG.
To be honest the reason I went down the filler route is because FG seemed so severe at the time and I liked the fact that fillers could be dissolved should they not look right.

I went to a clinic in Seoul called Before&After for my Sub-Q (bnaclinic.com) and the doctor there used 8cc (four syringes) in my cheeks and jaw. I looked a bit chubby for a few days but as the swelling began to settle everything looked great! I looked like myself but just firmer/fuller faced. (The doctor actually suggested 12cc at the time but I wanted to take a step-by-step approach)
Back at home I had so many comments about how well I was looking and (vain alert) I found selfies looked great from any angle under any lighting, lol.

After about 10 months I did start to wish I went for the extra 4cc's the doctor recommended and so I went back to the clinic for more. Since then the results have lasted about 21 months or so. (I'm going back in October for a top up -- probably need 4cc).

So, in short, the reason I haven't gone for FG yet is because I really love the experience I'm having with Sub-Q and don't want to mess with a good thing. (Saying that, I am going to have FG in October for my temple area and forehead).
Plus, now that I'm in the cycle of fillers, I would have to let them completely disappear (which could take AGES!) before getting a FG.

RE: Resty for aegyosal/smile band. FG is obviously not even an option for that area. There are just two options -- Alloderm tissue or filler.
Because the smile bands are such a specific target, it's only natural that filler can sometimes migrate. I loved how it looked when I got it done, and when it started to disappear, I had more Perlane injected. But the second time around (after 4/5 months) the smile bands lost their definition and it just started to look like I was super puffy or retaining water under my eyes, so I had it dissolved. I'm going to get the Alloderm done in October. Have seen a few people get it done and results are super natural (and as it's a natural tissue, there's no risk of rejection etc).

As for under the eye (tear trough). I have used a little Perlane over time but barely any (perhaps 0.3cc each side?).

Hope that's answered some of your questions!

Thanks Tuneup, very helpful.

And yes, by undereye, I mean tear trough, not love band. Is there risk for fillers in tear trough to migrate as well? I've heard cases that someone injected Sculptra there and it went down to her cheek!!!

Btw, I think you are extremely lucky to have your fillers stay 18-21 months. I've heard they are usually gone bt 9-12 months.
