belindar Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 What has been your experience? When was your surgery? 2010Who was your surgeon? Dr ***** in TaiwanAuto or Homo? HomoWhere was it used? Dorsum and tipHave you seen warping? NoHave you seen resorption? NoAre you satisfied with the result? Yes
riko12 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi Belindar I am glad you are satisfied with your result, and may I ask is your treating doctor is ENT?
belindar Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Don't be shy! Has anyone experienced resorption with cadaver rib. One of the 'best' revision rhinoplasty surgeons in Seoul denied that any resorption occurs. I think that's a lie.
shinyglittery Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 hm... lies to your face and is overconfident about his abilities? let me guess, dr Jung... not the best, just thinks he is... I don't know that much about rhinoplasty but from what I've heard... anything from your own you put back to it... some of it will be absorbed again... maybe cartilage doesn't absorb as much as fat because it's not as soft?? haha I don't know ^^;; hey is cadaver rib the same as irradiated rib? i think i read somewhere that it can be dangerous or not healthy for you or that there's a high risk of reabsorption?
belindar Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 It's not Dr Jung and it's not Dr Lee of VIP. Both doctors are barely mentioned on Korean forums. They are hardly known. Cadaver rib is always radiated, so they are the same. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
belindar Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 ^ There's no danger in using it, but doctors and studies report very different experiences regarding resorption. Keep in mind that some people experience complete resorption of autologous grafts.
shinyglittery Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Not surprised they are so bad only foreigners go to them...
belindar Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 hi riko, that's not my experience - it's just a suggestion for replies.
belindar Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 Is anyone here considering rib graft? Some experience warping many years post op. Some doctors use k-wires to avoid this, but what happens if you experience resorption with a k-wire? I hope we can share and discuss because doctors contradict themselves and each other. Edit: it is still better than foreign implants like silicone and it is really no stranger than using ear cartilage.
fraulein Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I think cadaver rib grafts are known to resorb much more quickly than autologous rib grafts

msnaive Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I saw one girl from pf doing rhino with rib. Look very nice n natural. I contacted VIP before and it seems they specialises in rib. They also suggested rib for me but I wasnt interested in invasive procedures so I didnt consult with them. They have mixed reviews on pf though.
