k-couture Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 bring aussie dollars to korea and change it there. Our dollar is inflated atm anyway so good for us
icecoffee Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Thanks K Couture. Do you think I will have problem changing 8k of AUD on Sunday? I try to avoid changing it at the airport.
k-couture Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 this coming sunday? i'm not sure if banks are open. But also to let you know, May 5th and 6th is a public holiday in korea in case those def change before or after those dates if it coincides with ure travel time
icecoffee Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 The clinic told me they accept both. I think maybe won.
icecoffee Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Sorry not this Sunday. I am going end of June and will arrive on Sunday. I need the money right the next day so I'm worry that I won't be able to change that much.
k-couture Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Ohhh then just change it in the morning on Monday if u can't on sunday. good luck with ure surgery! mine is next month
sheonlylooks25 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Pardon my ignorance but why don't the clinics accept credit cards? I am happy to pay any surcharge like some online purchases already incur.
icecoffee Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Hi SheLooksOnly25 If we pay cash, we get 4% discount. If we pay with card, we don't get the discount plus we get credit card and bank surcharges. Most clinic don't have the surcharge but bank is a definite. Also, I will try to exchange the money when the rate is good.
bigbrowneyedgir Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Krw for sure. My friend tried to take out money at the machines and her card didn't work even though it had the international interac sign and is supposed to work anywhere. Considering korea is quite international, and it didn't work there, not even at Citibank, I would suggest you bring korean won. Plus all the delicious food places take cash only. If you paid for surgery they tack on 10-20% due to some new korean foreign tax law or something
icecoffee Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Also, when I was there last month I could only withdraw 300,000won from ATM max each time with 10,000won fee from using foreign card. If we need to pay for surgery, please don't rely on ATM.
bigbrowneyedgir Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Damn I never got this discount at my clinic! Boo...
addyson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Just a heads up: not ALL banks exchange AUD. when i was there a couple of months ago some of the banks turned me away. I've been to Korea 5 times and 3 out of 5 times I've not had a problem with exchanging AUD, but just be mindful that it may happen no problems with USD tho
icecoffee Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Oh no.. So is it better to get US$ in Aust then change it to won in Korea?
