taraunnie Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I have heard that many PS clinics in Seoul switch surgeons or that the surgeon you meet with sometimes isn't the one performing the surgery.. Is there any surgeries that don't do this and is it only in bigger establishments? I have selected Pitangui and JW as my top clinics for V line and Zygoma reduction, but I am scared that they could switch surgeons and I could be left permantly damaged !! Has anyone experienced this personally or know more on the matter?? Any info would be greatly appreciated
rapid Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I've only read about that happening in ID, were there other clinics doing the same thing too??
taraunnie Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Well, I have heard (on this forum and other places) that other clinics like BK and Wonjin do it as well. I think it's kinda scary and deceitful..and I don't want it to happen to anyone let alone myself!! Don't take my word for it tho, cause I have only read things from other people, so I am not certain of their truths but I am wary all the same.
deetrain Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Beware of ID clinic, they're too many complaints
milktoki Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Also beware of Wonjin clinic. They also have too many complaints, and I am a victim of them so I have first-hand experience.
taraunnie Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Thanks..I'm so sorry.. Do you mind me asking what procedure you got there?? I have heard they are bad for V line..
milktoki Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I got lateral canthoplasty and epicanthoplasty. They really disfigured my eyes and left me with functional problems in addition. I just find it infuriating how they advertise SO much to foreigners, yet they are one of the LEAST foreigner friendly clinics I have come across. All in the pursuit of money I suppose...it's just plain greedy and unethical.
taraunnie Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Oh..again I'm really sorry you had to go through that and I hope you will find/have found a solution, how truly terrible. They should be ashamed and I hope that people will stop being attracted to the glitzy 'foreigner friendly' clinics (acceptions of course) that spend their dirty money on advertising and trying to suck in more victims. What do you mean they were the least foreigner friendly you've come across? That's all most of the 'amazing' and 'special' surgeons and clinic exactly are: greedy and unethical and they don't seem to care about you as an individual person, instead treating you like a commodity or a money pot. It makes me infuriated as well!!
milktoki Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 They are least foreigner friendly because of the poor after care and differential treatment they give to foreigners compared to Koreans. I posted an honest negative review on them on this review site, and they DELETED it. All you can see are glowing positive reviews. It is so incredibly dishonest and unethical to do that.
taraunnie Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 What was your after care like? I am a bit unsure of what really happens.. Is the care differential between Koreans and foreigners? That's pretty lousy and fairly unacceptable. Deleting bad reviews is very deceitful to the public. I can't believe they actually did that! Yes glowing reviews is pretty common on korean clinic websites, so I wonder if they all use this method? I agree is is completely dishonest and unethical to say the least.
milktoki Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 There was no aftercare..no follow up whatsoever. They would not assume responsibility for complications when I came back to the clinic a year later and they observed that it clearly was a botched procedure. They went on to ignoring me when I pushed the matter further via email. The care is differential from prices to the standard of care you receive. Foreigners typically get charged a lot more, they get lied to more because they don't have that local knowledge that native Koreans have, and they are generally treated in a sub-standard way compared to actual Koreans. This is because foreigners have very little legal recourse and there is difficulty in communication when you live in a different country. Clinics recognize this and take full advantage of this fact. You should know that a lot of clinics do have deceitful marketing practices and this could be from paying people to writing these glowing reviews, having people who work within their clinic to write these reviews, photoshopping photos, stealing pictures from another clinic to claim as theirs, silencing negative reviews/posts, etc. The list goes on and on and on.
milktoki Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 No I'm not okay, but I'm going to live with it and just learn from my mistakes. I'm done with PS actually. Plastic surgery is really hit or miss I learned and you even under the best hands, there is risk involved. It's best to be as natural as possible and not mess with your face.
nosey77 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 This really sucks and is one of the scariest things about getting ps in korea. Once you go under how will you know? Simply put you wont. It makes sense when you consider how common ps in korea is and how busy most of these clinics are. With the large numbers of international patients from china alone, there's just too many patients for their well known or star doctors to do everyone. I guess you can only hope that if this happens the junior surgeon is good as well since he's probably (or hopefully) had many surguries before yours to practice haha. In the end the best you can do is to at least stress that you want the doctor who did your consult (if you get to do that face to face before the surgery) is the one that will actually perform it.
