Hi there,

I'm a Canadian planning to have rhinoplasty surgery done in the Philippines this May. I want to get travel insurance that will cover me if something goes wrong with the surgery.

Are there any Canadians that have gone overseas for plastic surgeries? Did you get travel insurance coverage? What insurance company did you buy the coverage/policy from?

Thanks so much

ummmm no insurance company will cover you for elective surgery.

you can perhaps get coverage if you experience complications and for whatever reason need to be hospitalized. Tho this might be best answered by a consultant with RBC insurance or something because insurance companies are known for dodging payouts. Im thinking they could suggest that your complications was due to elective surgery and therefore you wouldnt be covered.

You are not going to find insurance to cover cosmetic surgery, especially when going abroad. You are taking a major risk by traveling to a different country (one that is not developed too) to get cosmetic surgery.

yeah....i wouldn't do it in Philippines if i were you. it may be cheap but medical practices there are not as advanced as say in Seoul. Also if something goes wrong you can forget about suing them due to their legal system. Your face is priceless. face > saving some money

so K couture do u know any that cover complications ? also this is a silly question but if something does go wrong shouldnt the dr. re-do it for free ....... usually u just pay the hospital price which shouldnt be much ?
i was trying to pm you but i dont know why i still cant :/

no sorry i don't. Id just get regular travel insurance so if god forbid u have to be rushed to the ER you will SHOULD be covered. You best be speaking to your insurance provider to figure out the fine details.

If sometimes goes horribly wrong you would most likely be transferred to a hospital because plastic surgeons are not trained to handle extreme cases. But if its a mild complication like you have a mild infection and the implants needs to be removed right away then your plastic surgeon should be able to handle it.

Hi, happy to see this thread bumped. I'm caucasian/american looking to go to SK for double jaw surgery. I've known I'd need it since I was a young teen, but just recently learned how much more advanced the technology/aesthetic results are in SK. I'm worried because complications are common and I don't want to rack up a huge hospital bill! Let me know if you've found anything out. I also prob want rhino but not sure whether I can get desired results in Asia/how long after 2jaw I'd need to wait.
