So discouraging

Recommended Posts

Hi BauHausFrau, I am from the city too and have been going back and forth about BA surgery for a while.. I also want a natural look (from AA to a B), so was wondering if you could please let me know where you get yours done. It would be my first surgery ever and I'm still on the fence if I should do it here on in Korea.. Thanks so much in advance

Sorry for posting in this thread as my post hasn't got up to 10 yet... but i truly share the sentiment with you all after spending the last few weeks reading up purseforum as a non-member... Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience though

Hi, thank you for this

I was reading the forum from an app which I didn't know how to use properly, and I didn't realize... I guess I was just a moron.

I've been doing the research with a word document open to take notes, make tables. But after reading the entire ANJ 3 I realized that I was doing it wrong (only looking at the clinics and not paying attention to the name of the doctor), so now I'm rereading everything. Hehe, it's actually good, cause I'm seeing things I never noticed before.

I think what I meant to ask was what r the tactics in doing the research (pay attention to drs. as well as clinics, wait for steady reviews, things seem totally obvious to me now but was never thought of, I know I know)?. Thankfully, so many kind pp. have nicely pointed me to the right direction.

I was already doing my research, but didn't know how deep the water was, sort of. looking back, I did post stuff that appears utterly stupid to me now. Maybe I was reading everything in such a short time I didn't allow the time for the information to be absorbed and settle. My apologies.

Before coming to this forum I didn't know 1% of what i know now! I'm so grateful to u all.

May I also contribute too?
I find it really helps to back away from the whole thing for a good while. Some family time, etc. see how much other stuff matters to me... Makes me reconsider what I'm actually truly ready to risk. I think this allows me to take a step back and maybe make more intelligent choices. To poor souls like me that once in a while let it all go to their heads.

Also, I think it's tips like you've given me above what r most valuable. I should think most new comers are also looking for these advices rather than simply some names of the best surgeons. Sometimes it not pp. don't want to do research but are so lost they don't know where or how to start, such often occur half way through the research.

That is in no way to justify my little post, I'm just thinking maybe we can start a tread about research strategies? I've read something similar, but I volunteer to organize all nice tips that pp have given me, but seeing how little I know, this may take a while.

Hi K Couture, I was in the forum for few days, and i was always seeing you here, do you have a Kaokao, can I add you to get some advice? I am going to seoul very soon!

  • 2 weeks later...
I just wanted to chime in here after reading your post.

I felt the same way two years ago before I went to Korea, spending almost 24/7 on PurseForum reading about other people's experiences, etc.
When I finally went to Korea, I only did consultation at three places (Grand, JW and BK) and decided to go with JW.

To be honest, I don't think there's much difference between the skill of the doctors on one place to another. They all claim to be great and they all have good/bad results. The photos they post on their websites are obviously the best results with a patient who had the ideal conditions for that specific procedure. Plus, all of those are photoshopped. And who knows? photos on PF could also be photoshopped.

There's also people who write negative things about certain clinics, and you look into their account and that's all they have posted. That's something else to be weary about.

Don't get stressed out too much until you get to Korea because let's be honest. You can't believe anything 100% that's said on the internet by anonymous people. Do some consultations at home, in person with local surgeons and see what they recommend and ask them how they would do it. Then when/if you go to Korea, consult with as many places as you want, and pick the one you like best out of what you see in the waiting room, the service, doctor, price, etc. You can learn a lot from reading PF, and you probably should read as much as you can. But don't make all of your judgements based on what you read online.

I hope this helps. I was super stressed out and biting my nails about everything, and then when I got to Korea, I mostly made my decision based on price. They all had good service and all of the doctors had great credentials, but JW just beat them out on price. :/

Anyway, cheer up! When do you plan on going? I'm going back to Korea for my eyes :biggrin::biggrin:

Hi Kim,

Thanks for sharing your experience, I am planning to have my first surgery in nov, and i every day reading purse, in order to get well prepared for the surgery. Although I do feel lost as there are too many gd/bad comments towards each clinic, but it's good that you can make some new frds here whom are friendly and give u some advice. What surgery u hv done in JW?

:nogood: I am having the same problem. It is so difficult to tell what is genuine and what is not, and it's really confusing things for me. Whats worse is knowing that some doctors/clinics legally can remove all negative reviews and comments from patients. Very dishonest.

hey shinyglittery... just want to say that I too share the same frustration.... I was bent on one of the highly mentioned clinic in the previous close thread but then a series of botched cases appear... and I'm forced to redo research again... I've decided on a clinic already and although through just consult by email the feeling I got so far (from a few blogger's review as well) as been pretty good. But I got to admit that I previously PMed another former who had bad experience with this clinic of choice. So, for now, I'm still saving... may do it at year end... just one area...

I figure to lessen the risk involved... I would do just one area at a time... I just hope by time I saved enough they are still as good as what I felt now...

Would not indicate which clinic I am leaning towards to in case if there are promoters or agents. Have not been in this forum for quite a long while. Don't know who is who already.

thank you so much for your message  actually i now live in a big city with plenty of plastic surgeons around so i can do what you suggested. when i wrote that post i lived in a tiny town with zero plastic surgeons... i was so depressed there haha. but everything's a lot better now  though the reason for the move wasn't a happy one but in the end everything worked out fine! i don't know when i plan on going yet, i still have a lot to do and i have to budget everything so i can just go any day i want but hopefully soon  this year for sure. good luck with your eyes!

it's good to be careful, it's crazy when people post (here or on kakao) stuff like
hi i'm nina wang
i was born august 13, 1980
i'm 33 years old and i plan to go to korea june 26th 2014
i'll be staying at this hotel
here it is on google maps, see that hotel right there
and i'm planning on doing these procedures
oh i hope i get a good price

like... you know
crazy

hey, you still know me haha. i don't come here often anymore either. i had really different ideas when i started too, about clinics and everything... doing everything at once and so on. but now i plan to divide the procedures and go to korea more than once, it's better to be careful and not rush things

Hey! Please forgive any typos since I'm on my ipad.

I actually only had tiplasty done. Usually people get some implant, but I didn't want to pay for autologous tissue like dermis graft since it's so expensive. But I didn't want to get silicone or gortex in case of complications. To be honest, I was pretty adamant for a very natural change with only tiplasty.

Since those were my expectations, I was quite pleased with my results from JW. at the time, Dr. Suh recommended alarplasty as well, but said I could do that when I did zygoma reduction. Since I don't think I'll ever do zygoma (chickened out) I'm thinking of going back to do alarplasty as well as my eyes.

Now that I'm back on the forums I see there are a lot of different clinics that have become popular. It probably makes deciding on just one that much more difficult. Someone in Korea told me that since nose and eye surgeries are so common, if you're a typical case, you don't have to be too worried. But then again, when you're paying thousands of dollars for your face, you can't be too careful.

Right now I'm torn. I kind of want to look into new clinics, but it's so overwhelming. And I've seen people get really great results from the clinics that were popular on the forums two years ago, so I kinda want to stick to what I know... Ugh. Now that I've started thinking about it, the stress is sinking into me too...

Hmm... I'm happy but not satisfied. That's why I plan to do alarplasty later in december along with my eyes.

But gah! I can't even decide what kind of eyes I want nevermind which clinic to go to!!! I've been going onto Korean forums and asking where people got their eyes done (I'm Korean btw), but there isn't a clear winner. It seems everyone gets them at different places with prices ranging from 500,000KRW to 6 mili krw. Part of the price difference is different procedures, but not really. But they all look pretty, so how do I decide?!!?! :panic::panic:

haha i know exactly how you feel!
also i have a different problem, i've been looking at local places because i finally live in a big city where there are local places! but there are too many places  and a lot of them are those annoying places that do anything but surgery: fillers, botox, laser everything, vaser lipo but no surgeries. but i've walked in and asked their prices and they all said they have a doctor... well maybe the doctor is a doctor but not a surgeon? i don't know but i don't trust those places as much somehow. like i think a place isn't serious enough if they don't do surgery haha. but i would trust them for procedures like botox though so i don't know. i actually wonder if they would do aegyosal... and if they know how to. i'll have to ask next time
