maiq
VickyK - one thing that I find funny AND confusing is that almost ALL of these doctors have the same surname. Like, for example, they have a Dr Lee in DAPRS, but also another Dr Lee in Banobagi, Migo, Regen and dozens of others. And Dr. Kim, and Dr. Park... SOOO MANY with the same surname. Plus sometimes from the same clinic there are two or three doctors of the same surname also. So when you read the forum, take note of the name of the doctor BUT also take note of the clinic. So something like Dr. Park of OZ (because there are also dozens of Dr Park: Dr Park from ID and Dr Park from Dream and Dr Park from Wonjin etc ) did this and the result is like this etc. That's one thing that helped me. Besides, as K said, the B&A should not be a deciding factor. I myself can photoshop my own picture into a Kpop star kind of face, I dont see why these clinics cant, given thousands of views on these pics everyday. (B&A, if for reference, is only credible if accompanied with videos interview) To me what's more important is : 1. Their methods (if it's not clear on the website, search for the surgeon FULL NAME, in quotation, for example Dr "Park Wonjin" - this will make sure Google search exactly this key word) And you look for their research/paper published/conference speech/patent. Usually when one surgeon come up with a new, better method he/she will have a lot of publication and publicity around it. If both doesnt work then email the clinic directly asking for the method: For example for nose do they do open or closed. For Zygoma do they do 3D rotation or incomplete bone fracture etc. then research around these methods to see whats superior. 2. Their bedside manner. Usually this can be obtained from peer reviews on Purseforum. To me, it's most important to find a doctor WHO CARES for me as a patient! because if things go slightly off right after the surgery I would want to have a discussion with the surgeon and fix it asap. I usually stay away from surgeons whose patients said that he is "Arrogant". even if the reviews is like "He's a bit arrogant but the result is good I am happy" I am still staying away from that surgeon, i can totally imagine a nightmare dealing with arrogant doctor who believes whatever goes wrong is patient's fault. 3. Last but not least, CONSISTENCY. People has the 'instant gratification' tendency to jump into a clinic that get a lot of recent reviews instead of looking at the long history of that doctor's skills. This was the reason why the whole Asian Nose Job 2 thread was about VIP, and the whole Best PS Clinic thread (the very first one in 2009) was all about Grand and ID. As it turns out, because no one was looking for the consistent performance, horror stories come out of Grand and ID and VIP after the waves and waves of patients flow into there. So to cut short: Make sure you know at least 3-4 people who goes to that clinic over the long period of time, what they like, dont like about the clinic, and whether those negative points will affect your goals. And remember: A REVIEW THAT IS FULL OF POSITIVE AND NO NEGATIVE IS BULL****. Promoter. Period. P.S U can easily recognise who is the most reputable surgeon in a clinic by checking out their "News" sections and see their 'celebrity' related news. See who is the one in the picture with the celebrities who visit the clinics, those are usually the big dog. However, I am not suggesting that you should look for clinics that operates on celebrities because frankly, celebrities here acts as promoters too. and a disclaimer as well I don't mean to recommend any of the surgeon I mentioned, it's just random example pulled out of my head, you should do your research about them first thing. I dont know why BS flow thro my head so easily today so appologise for the long posts in both threads. Maybe I am just too high of coffee.
vichyk
Thank you so much, I somehow wasn't able to access this post for a while. But wow, thank you so much for these key points. I have to say, it's a good wake up call! It's so tempting to convince myself that I have done enough research, and go for the surgery already. But, no, I'm far from it!
