Plastic Surgery Clinics in Korea ***read 1st post before posting***

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to share this article with you all.
There's a PS clinic called Daehan (대한성형외과) and they were on the news this spring for switching doctors between consultation doctors and the doctors who do the surgery.
Also, at this clinic, the clinic head doctor would look at the timer to make sure they aren't taking longer than 30 min for nose/forehead and 15 min for fat graft. By 6pm the surgery patients would be lined up and waiting, forcing them to speed up the procedures--even if the nose is crooked or what not, they would just close everything up.

And to make sure patients don't wake up, they'll also give them more sedatives than necessary! Isn't that terrifying? That being said, from the tone of the article, this isn't a common thing.

But if you want to make sure the correct person is doing your surgery, I guess you can add them to record the procedure on your smartphone? IDK. that's what this girl did in a drama when she went to sleep in another guy's apartment.

I hope this info helps you guys out. Before you schedule your surgery, ask how many surgeries the doctor performs/schedules per day. If it's something ridiculous like 20 surgeries/day I'd say it's safer to go a clinic where your procedures won't be rushed.

If you can read Korean, the article is here: http://news.kbs.co.kr/news/NewsView.do?SEARCH_NEWS_CODE=2844417&ref=D

Thanks so much for this info!! I've never heard of that clinic, but it makes perfect sense that these kind of things happen in plenty of other clinics as well.

Hi guys,

I'm back with one more online consultation, this time from Mega Clinic

I basically sent them some photos of my uneven droopy eyelids and my wide/big (but high bridge) nose. I asked them if they could do parallel eyelids for me like Runa Nagai and give me a similar nose shape and tip like her too (since my nose is already similar to hers just ..wideee... her images attached), with a strong emphasis on NO SILICONE IMPLANT.

Mega took about 2 days to respond (slower than LIFE) and they responded in KOREAN... So I had to use google translate... They also didn't quote me any prices even though I asked, I think it's because they don't want to decide certainly what I need yet until I come in for an in person consultation. Which is KIND of good?, but also bad since I want an idea of what their prices are like!!

Their response:

Translation:

Hello, this is Mega Plastic Surgery.

When you see you own face as I saw the word deurigineun eoryeowoona photo shows

You can outline a wish nunin making a sharper eyes than the eyes produce sharp rising power. (???? something about making my eyes sharper...)

If you do not want to enter the silicon, reducing the width of the room is given both kotbol nose gathered inside the bone on the inside of the nose

You can narrow the width of the nose is now more spacious.

Activities in the current answer is not correct that our hospital because of a photo shows the report will only have to say
After detailed consultation with the director of the correct diagnosis will be determined the most effective surgical method for your experience.
Thank you.

--

So basically, what I got out of that was that I need surgery to make my eyes appear sharper, removing fat and tying the bone in my nose tip together to make it narrower/smaller, and alar base reduction. They also said I have to come in personally for an accurate diagnosis.

I'm happy that the response seems like it wasn't just mass copied and pasted *cough LIFE* and that they actually took time to write out a personalised response addressing my needs.

So the thing I'm wondering about is.... has anyone ever been to Mega before or is knowledgable about their prices?

That is insane... Unimaginable scenario if this is the States.

Good thing is for eyelid surgery, I will be awake the 90% of the time. Going to a specialist at small clinic at the off season would be a safe bet.

Yes, I'm definitely doing eyes! My list right now is Teuim, Mega, Braun, and maybe Cinderella. (I may put Cinderella off)

I heard from a forumer on one of the old threads that Bandoeye (http://www.bandoeyeps.com/) specialise in eyes like Teium, and that they're also good... but I haven't seen much of reviews or b/a of theirs before. Said forumer also mentioned WSTAR (http://wstarw.co.kr/) and they seem to be endorsed by many celebs like Cinderella

HI Katrina , I haven't booked pace to stay yet, searching online right now, I want to stay close to the gangnam so I can get to clinics easily . what is your kakao?

skinnypig, do Braun and Mega have English translator? I dont want to hire translator so I only choose the clinic have staffs can speak English. Right now I cant decide which clinic , too many to choose from, my current list is View, Cinderella and REAL , but not sure if I would consider REAL as no many information online about this clinic
I am going to look at Mega and Braun website now, many be will change my mind about the list again  , are these two clinics popular with locals too?

I think that Mega should have an English translator? Not too sure... I'll try asking them. I'm pretty sure Braun doesn't but I think they have a Chinese one. I'd say that Braun and Mega are pretty popular with locals although Braun isn't as known internationally. (Im just assuming things based on what I heard, I haven't been to these places before..). You can create an account on their site, it's really easy, and look at the "Before&After Selcas"... there are so many! Their eyes, facial contour, and breast look really nice but some of their noses can look identical and too plastic.

I don't like clinics that are too commercial such as ID, Regen, Wonjin; however unfortunately these are the more popular ones that will generally have English translators to ensure they can get more customers. Braun probably won't have an eng translator because they're not interested in getting many international clients as these clinics which is pretty good I guess?..

Also, IDK if it's just me but does anyone else here feel a little scared to trust using translators working for the clinics? I always have this thought that they might just try to translate everything so it sounds positive to try to get you to go with their clinic. I mean would they warn you about suspicious things - I don't think so, because that would lose their clinic customers... Idk... I'd rather hire my own translator or find a Korean friend and come with me to my list of clinics and help me make a decision.

That's DUhan. Not DAEhan. They're completely different so don't freak out the Chinese forumers.

The article I posted earlier doesn't say anything about Daehan, but this one mentions it. I read so many of these articles to see which clinic it was, but they tend not to name names in case of lawsuit. :/

Woah they injected 14~16 times the normal amount of anesthaesia... and the doctor works 16 hours a day?!?! Crazy.

It's scary because there are more clinics out there that are doing the same thing... Everyone please be careful with which clinic you choose!

Hmmm... But don't you think they'd do the same in Korean as well? When I consulted clinics for my nose, I spoke with the English consultant in English, and went to the doctor and spoke with him in Korean (usually because they feel more comfortable speaking in Korean and I could always ask the consultant to translate difficult medical terms).

But even in Korean, they'll frame everything so that it seems like an easy, simple procedure--when it really isn't. And from asking around, average Koreans seem to go to clinics where their friends had a good result, and have no idea "who's the best surgeon in Korea."

I think people like K Couture have MUCH more knowledge on PS than the typical Korean. I found out my roommate had double eyelid surgery done. She said she just went to one she's heard of in Gangnam (she doesn't remember where), without a ton of research like we're doing.
