mrsking
Mindy89, In case you don't see my message earlier, many thanks for getting back to me on mandible reduction. I have a wide jaw also from front view. In your opinion, cutting the jaw bone alone should resolve the problem, or one should also consider muscle and soft tissue reduction to fully address the issue? Did Dr. Lee mention about your muscle and soft tissue volume during the whole process? If so, did he do anything to your masseter (chewing muscle) or soft tissue? If he didn't touch those, are you happy with the slimming effect so far based on what you can see? Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions
shinyglittery
Third post!! ************* I also want to know the answer to MrsKing's question. I always thought that if you cut the bone the muscles and the soft tissue will conform to the new shape of the bone and don't usually need work but if you have really big muscles for some reason (not likely right?) then maybe you need the muscles cut. But I have no idea if that's right, that's just what i always thought.

mindy89
Hey Mrs King. I asked Dr.Lee if he recommends botox to shrink the muscles for me but he said its not needed because after the surgery, the muscles shrink slightly (he didn't explain very well why, I think from dissecting the muscles in order to access the bone, some tissue damage occurs? and probably atrophy from not chewing haha). I don't think I have thick masseter muscles so maybe he didn't think it was appropriate for me. Some people do both jaw reduction and botox for the full effect, but sometimes just botox alone is sufficient if they don't have wide bones and just thick muscles. I disliked the angle of my jaw bone so that's why I opted for bone cutting instead of looking into botox. Hope that helps!
mrsking
shiny, lets hope Mindy will get around to answer that for us. I learned from K Couture about the muscle and soft tissue being a contributing factor in determining the width of one's face in the frontal view. I would add that fat can be another factor if there is enough of it. K mentioned that her jaw surgery didn't really reduce her facial width much along the lower jaw, it was the botox injection which shrank the masseter muscle that helped the most. I was just curious if Dr. Lee from DA has a strategy for masseter and tissue in additional to bone reduction. So far DA in on the top my list. For some reason, I feel comfortable with him already just seeing what people say about him in posts here and what's on their web site.
mrsking
oops.. didn't see your post before I posted mine.. Thanks Mindy. I like it that Dr. Lee does botox for the muscle instead of other alternatives. Hope you feel better today.
shinyglittery
thank you mindy for your answer MrsKing that is interesting. if i bite down hard i can see that the muscle makes the jawline a little wider. it seems to also change the shape a little. but it's only in millimeters it doesn't look like that much. but i think the shape change makes it look like more. i think i will ask about a botox injection too, do you think this is a good strategy: get bone cutting and botox at the same time and by the time the botox wears off the muscle will have been unused for so long that the jawline is slimmer and the muscle is smaller. or maybe: get the bone surgery, eat only liquid food (like soups) for 1-2 weeks then when you can (or want to) chew again go back and get a botox injection. then when it wears off the muscles should be smaller. do you think you wouldn't need another injection if you don't eat lots of food that require chewing hard (like big pieces of meat)? if you just avoid chewing hard on foods and favor lighter foods then that should also help, right? mrsking
shiny, I think a lot of Asians are like us who have naturally larger masseter muscle whether they chew on tough food or not. As long as we eat meals that requires chewing, our masseter muscle will remain voluminous Botox, I think, causes muscle atrophy even when we chew on food (other muscles on the face are used instead). I am not too worried when to get the botox injection in relation to the surgery time, I think Dr. Lee should have a better idea on that. But if you are going to see other doctors, I would think getting the injection a couple of weeks after the surgery might be better maybe?
shinyglittery
thank you, i didn't know that. i will ask the doctor about the injection, if it's better right away or a little later. i just thought it would be possible later too because i intend to only eat liquid food/food that doesn't require chewing for at least 2 weeks after my surgery, maybe longer. but if not chewing doesn't help, i don't know. i will still avoid chewing because i think it will help with the healing: less pressure and stress on the jaw. by the way be sure not to eat anything before anaesthesia, i read in another thread that most people who die die because they ate a few hours before the anaesthesia and then they choke to death. when i read that i was like "wow that's why GA is always so easy for me" because i never eat 24h before GA. not because they told me to but i don't know, i just don't feel like it haha. maybe that's why my GA is always pleasant
yukina89
I don't know if its just me or Banobagi is really bad at reply emails. It's been more than a month already and still no actual reply from them.
ngalaxiee
I haven't had a reply from Regen, Teuim or Dream either! It's driving me crazy ahhh
maiq
Same here. At this rate I am not going to consult with them anymore, I dont like clinic who are not responsive because say, if something goes wrong after my surgery I'll want them to reply to my emails as soon as possible. Anyone who might go to consult with DARPS or Dream on the 1st/2nd July let's get together so we can all have cheaper rates xx
malissa
Same here. But I've also started hearing a few bad reviews of them the more I look. So the combination of them not replying and me finding scare-stories really makes me lose interest.
malissa
But I got some quotes from Girin yesterday. They haven't seen my pictures yet, so I assume the prices are somewhat fixed. It's hard to communicate with them as they don't have a translator, but the consultant have okay English skills, so it isn't impossible. Nose: KRW4,000,000 to KRW4,500,000 V-line: KRW6,000,000 to KRW7,000,000 Breast: KRW7,000,000 to KRW8,000,000 Btw, is there anyone who can explain me the difference between v-line and mini v-line? I'm so confused now...
