mimi60
Hi guys, it's been the third day I am here in Korea. I came here alone and happily joined with another member from the forum. It is always good to have company, I am so happy that change everything. Now, i have booked my appointments with AT, DA and TLPS. AT is a very small clinic, only two doctors Dr Park and Dr Kwon. Due to low season, there is only a few patients at the reception. I met Dr Park for acculift and my friend with Dr Kwon for eyes. There is only one in house English speaker and one Mandarin. It's hard to communicate with others. dr Park spoke fluent English so no need for translator. dr Kwon speak very little and doesn't like to speak much. I was charmed by Dr Park initially but changed my mind later. We moved to DA for 2nd appointment, both mine and my friend's impression towards this clinic is girls who come here are relatively fake, with too much pointy nose or puffy faces, but again we met a girl from CA. Who came out with a perfect nose job. I couldn't tell her nose has just been done and it's only 10 days, contrary to her, her friend's nose is very unsatisfactory and she claim to redo it. That give me a thought that we need to judge the doctor ourselves and go with our instinct, as we are all difference and our goal is difference too. Katie is a lovely English translator, she is very nice and not pushy at all. After consultation with the lady manager, we have a short consultation with the doctor. He does understand English but doesn't want to speak. And he told me honestly that he won't be able to obtain good results from Acculift and fat graft for me. I am a little put off by this statement. We then went back to the manager to discuss price. I need to tell the forumer to never pay what they ask for, just tell them your budget and let them tell if they can do it or not. My experience is that they all inflate the price by min. 30% or more. We moved on to TLPS. It's a medium size clinic with 5 floors, compare to the former two, it looks more solid and organized. I was guided by Melissa the English translator. Despite the fact that I was late for an hour, I was able to consult with them. The system is similar to DA, we get to make photo first, meet the manager and then the doctor. I am happy with the suggestion to do their patent licensed Power V Lift (similar to acculift) and fat graft. Again this is personal I go with my instinct with Dr Yung for the procedure. Next day, another dilemma, I scheduled my procedure at 1pm, I went to ATM here to withdraw cash. It was a nightmare, I wouldn't suggest anyone to think of it even. Each bank offers 1million won only. And not all banks entertain foreign cards. So I was again late for my appointment and have it rescheduled to late afternoon. Melissa is such a loving person and so is her assistant Regina, both spoke perfectly good English and super helpful. Regina guided us to the surgery room, stay there translate for us, btw, it is important that someone speak English during the surgery, I was awake from the deep sleep and Regina asked if I am ok, and tell me that they will increase the dose now and urge me to sleep. I was scare of switch of doctor so unconsciously I want to open my eyes to see who do the procedure. After the procedure we were guided to a room for a short rest and Regina waited for us, and put us to the taxi. I have nothing to say in regard to their service. Melissa send me Kakao message and asked about me yesterday and today how I am doing. I just adore them. Now, in relation to the procedure, I will tell only in a few days as I am all bandage up. But I am feeling good and already stocked up with pumpkin soup.
maiq
Thank you for sharing your experience. When you say 'Each bank offer 1 mil won only' does it mean that's the maximum withdrawal amount they allow? Oh dear it must have been a night mare... How did you sort it out in the end? I believe you only need to put down 10% payment on the day to secure the surgery next day, is it the case for TLPS? How much did you pay for Power V Lift at TLPS in the end? They are recommending me the same procedure.
mimi60
Yes I pay 4,8ml for the two procedures, they asked for 7.6ml in the beginning. I managed to take out 2ml from the ATM and I got the rest in USD, then my friend lend me 600k won. Down payment is 10%. I just take out the cast and is quite happy with the final result, but I am still swollen a lot, hard to tell for now.
milkychoco
@mimi60 at DA, did you consult with Dr. Lee Sang Woo? http://blog.naver.com/sangwoolee7_
maiq
OMG 4.8 mil from 7.6 mil... That's like 58% off, well done girl, that's incredible - how did you do that?? The bank there had an option to withdraw in USD? I didnt know that. Can I ask when do they ask you to pay the 90%? Is it on the day of the surgery and before your surgery? How is the other forumer coping with their surgeries?
mina2013
I guess asking for very high price is TLPS style. ^_^ When I email them, they asked 16 mil for cheekbone reduction, Rhinoplasty and Fat graft (it's ridiculous expensive). After a little bargain, the price reduced to 10 mil.
mimi60
Yes, I consult with Dr Lee at DA, but I guess he is not too interest to do the acculift. I deposited only 10% for committing the surgery! the day on the surgery! I paid full. TLPS promised to give me a post care ultrasound treatment, wait I will report how it's like. mimi60
Oh by the way Mina2013, inflating the price is Every clinic's style. DA and AT's price was incredibly high too, you need to bargain that's why it's important to consult in person. And also, to consult in person you got the feeling of the place, but not just judging through the others.
mrsking
mimi - thanks for taking the time to share! I am happy to see that you've got it done and over with , sit back, relax and enjoy the results - how I wish I could do that now.. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Take your time to write back, no hurry. 1. Did Dr. Lee from DA elaborate why he couldn't give you the result you wanted? What was the issue? Is it 'coz Acculift doesn't really lift much? Did he recommend some flavors of face lift instead? I didn't think he was specialized in lift/lipo in DA.. 2, Did Dr. Lee from DA say anything about the eye procedure you wanted? 3, Did you do eye first or Acculift at TLPS? Did they use GA on you or just iv sedation? 4, Where are you satying? Do you like it? Can't wait to see your results! But no pressure if you can't share. mimi60
Hi Mrs King, my procedures is only Acculift and Fat Graft. My friend looks for eyes, fat graft and acculift. So when I asked him about the acculift, he told me he can deal with the double chin, but cannot define the jowl where there is fat. He didn't give me any recommendation on other procedures. Maybe he is honest but My first consultation with Dr Park with AT was better, he explained in details how acculift work and how he could achieve it. It's the comparison between them that I was not confident to do with Dr Lee anymore. In the end I did it with Dr Yung at TLPS. My friend also consulted Dr Lee for eyes and she didn't get much feeling on what he suggest, she also was skeptical on how he can specialize on eyes, fat graft and acculift. We know he's famous in facial contouring but unsure about eyes. So she didn't choose him neither. She is brave enough to do eyes with Dr Kwon at AT and FG and thread lift with TLPS on the same day. mimi60
Also, TLPS used the Deep sleep (iv sedation I guess) not the GA, they said it's too harmful for the body and is unnecessary. They seems to be very careful in medical safety and I am happy with it. I am staying at a guest house where I found on Airbnb in sinsha area. But TLPS is far from other clinics although it is only 20 mins drive from my place.
mrsking
Thanks mimi. I think you made the right decision to not go with Dr. Lee for your procedures. With deep sleep, were you awake? were you aware of things happening in the room? I have anxiety/panic attack. I can't stay awake during any surgeries. ALso, did you do the full face graft including forehead?
mimi60
Hi Mrs King, I slept after the first dose and was unconscious of everything until they finished taking my fat. Then I awoke but still not feeling anything that's why I opened my eyes, then they gave me other dose and I slept again. In my sleep towards the end of the procedure, I can hear their talk and when they are manipulating my chin. It was quite an experience though. In the end, they said this is just "light" procedures, gosh.....my FG is without the forehead cos I already have a broad and round forehead so I didn't do it. mrsking
Thanks mimi. Was DA busy compared to TLPS when you were there? I know you mentioned AT wasn't all that crowded.
mimi60
Da and TLPS are both busy except AT. But still it is low season as I heard and Korean people are not in the mood these days due to the tragic ship sinking accident.
