cloudbusting Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Thanks for confirming^^ I hope you don't mind if I ask, but how much did you bargain down at Able? The prices they quoted me are so high (more expensive than teuim for eyes)!
cloudbusting Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I was told that Dr. Cho can only read/understand english but not speak it very well.
indo28 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 But Dr.Cho replied me by email with every details in english what i need to do for my revision rhinoplasty,so i assume he can speak english since his all replies so detailed. But Dr.Cho is nice while he answered all my questions
vanilla-creme Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Hi Indo, What is the email address of Dr Cho, I'm need desperate help! Appreciated it so much!
piyochi Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 Dr. Cho understands English and Read English but he speaks a little bit of English only. Very little We had a Chinese consultant doing interpretation throughout our consultation.
somerville Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Thank you so much for sharing your very detailed experience, piyochi! Did the doctor at White Clinic mention anything about the possibility of sagging and the need to go back after 6 months? I'm intending to get the same bone contouring surgeries as you and PSP, but I'm very concerned about the risk of sagging skin after that. And how's your recovery going? Do you still feel any numbness or stiffness in your chin/jaw?
piyochi Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 Cloudbusting: forgot to answer one question... Able had few local patients there waiting for follow up check up while we were there for consultation. Somerville: I had the same concern as you. I was worried about sagging since I have lots of fat around my jaw area. Professor Lee said it depends how to take care of your skin. He said our facial muscle and fat will grow according to the new bone structure and if we take good care of it. It shouldn't happen. I don't see any sagging sign so far but I am only one month post op. My jaw fat seems to have disappear after the surgery. I think it's due to the fact that he advanced my chin by 5mm so my face appear longer now. it stretched my skin and fat a bit so my jaw line is nicer. I am still observing my zygoma. I like the result cz my cheeks were asymmetry and prominent and now my cheeks are no longer prominent and I don't notice asymmetry as before. He also mentioned that there are treatment available if later you find your skin start to sag, but he said not to worry about it. PSP and I met few girls at the healing camp who did acculift and bone contouring at the same time cz their clinic suggested but we didn't see any difference. White clinic is not pushy at all. They won't recommend unnecessary surgery. My recovery is getting a bit better everyday. My face is not as swollen for sure, but I still fee numbness and stiffness. It's normal. I read a lot of different blogs and some people have these problem for over a year, but it usually goes away after few months. I am still waiting. Chin is the part where you will feel the most. I don't feel anything for my zygoma and just a bit of sore pain for my jaw when I am touching it. Otherwise, the only that bothers me the most is my eyes. Hope this help
somerville Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Since you mentioned your jaw fat has disappear, did the vline include buccal fat removal and/or masseter muscle reduction as well? Yeah, some clinics recommend the acculift procedure together with the contouring surgeries but others advise us to do it at least 6 months after the surgery... And I do think it's appropriate to do any lifting after the skin has 'settled' with the new bones too. So it's good and assuring that White Clinic isn't pushing you with more unnecessary procedures.. Also, are you able to open your mouth as per normal, and resume work immediately 2 weeks after the surgeries? And regarding your eyes, you mentioned that the left isn't healing as well as the right. I hope that it is just swollen and the problem will subside in awhile! Do keep us updated on your healing process, wishing you best recovery.. Your posts did help a lot, thank you so much definitely shortlisting White Clinic!
piyochi Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 I wanted to do buccal fat removal and muscle reduction but White clinic thinks it's not necessary. Professor Lee only did face contouring without touching my fat or muscle. I found out that it's dangerous to remove some of the jaw muscle after reading lots of reviews. I decided not to touch my jaw muscle. My fat and muscle does seem to grow according to my bone so far. To be honest, you won't look normal in two weeks after face surgery. 3 weeks would be better. Few people got scare when they saw me after 2 weeks. I think I started to look normal after 3 weeks. PSP did look normal after 2 weeks, but Yuki said she heals so fast and it's abnormal. lol I guess it depends. You won't be able to open your mouth like you used to until at least a month or so. I am able to open 80% now. It's mainly because of my chin that I am unable to open at 100% yet. You will be able to brush your teeth and floss after 2 weeks for sure. You can go back to work after 2 weeks but you may not look as normal. I suggest 3 weeks if you don't want people to ask you too many questions. My left eye is not healing properly cz some scar tissue build up and a small bubble have formed for some reasons. I am following up with White clinic and so far they are very responsive which is a good sign. They asked me to wait because it's one month after op. They said it will go away so I'll see how things go cz I am still going back for my 2nd fat graft in August. Thank you for your support!
poredoor Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Thank you very much for sharing. It's very helpful for me. I am a guy who is deciding to do jaw surgery. What I concern the most is post surgery recovery. All places suggested me to stay 14days stay. Would it be enough? I have been doing research about PS in Korea and it's pretty tough. How do you know the price they quoted you is the right price without commission? I heard a lot about agency commission.
piyochi Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Hi Poredoor 14 days is the minimum because most clinics will want to take out the stitches before you leave Korea. I believed they will use the dissolvable stitches for inner mouth though. It takes about 2 to 3 weeks to completely melt away. I don't know if you are planning to do consultations first or you will have your surgery right away. Add 1 to 2 days if you are planning to do consultations. I wasn't looking normal when I left Korea. I wished I stay a bit longer because some of my friends were shocked by my look. I think its better to stay 3 weeks in total if you can. You will look kinda normal and you will feel more comfortable because I was feeling depress and extremely uncomfortable for the first week. Don't hire interpreters as most clinics provide english or chinese services. Don't disclose your itinerary to anyone so people can't call the clinic to get commissions of you. A girl told me at the healing camp that her clinic called her to verify if she knows the person who is trying to claim commissions. The clinic normally wouldn't call but it's the 2nd time she visit the clinic so the clinic thought it's suspicious. Don't share your name or info with anyone. You can't pick the cheapest either. You have to pick the clinic that you feel most comfortable with. It has to have a balance between quality and price. For example: small face quoted me 3800000 for zygoma revision once without me asking for discount. This is a bit too low to believed. It could happend with locals but not foreigners. I did more research and I found out that their main face contouring doctor left. Also, just like any business, there's always higher class and lower class. Same for the clinics, even though I have some issues with my eyes at White clinic, I am still happy that I picked them because they are still following my case. Unlike other clinics, they would ignore me already. They did a good job on face contouring for me. Don't go to the ones where they do a lot of advertisement.
poredoor Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Thank you for suggestion. I wonder how could I explain and consult with doctor precisely because some clinic couldn't speak English very well also myselft might not be able to explain in the correct term. What should I do? I am planning to hire translator who is Thai. I believe besides money I pay for them they also get commission from clinic. Don't you think? I am planning to consult with couple places: Wonjin, Banobagi, another one which I couldn't remember the name. Dr. has to follow up for 2 weeks so what if I stay 1 more week. Is Dr. still ask to check up at the clinic? How about the pain? After surgery for the first week, had you felt any pain? What I read on forum is only about swelling. It's very nice to talk and get advise from you. Thank you very much. Por
piyochi Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Big clinics have their own interpreters I believed the ones you mentioned have their own interpreters. I wouldn't hire interpreters if I were you. Most people who hired interpreters end up regretted. The doctor won't ask you to go in for check up if they think you are ok. The reason why I said 3 weeks is to ensure you look kinda normal before you go back to your country. It's hard to get medical advice on pasty surgery after you go back to your own country. Honesty, I didn't feel too much pain after bone surgery. The clinics will prescribe pain killer for the first 10 days. I felt the pain cz of my eyes and nose but not for the face contour. It's the swell and tightness that will bother you the most. Just one suggestion, I would include a jaw specialist on your consultation list like everm or white because they are specialized in 2 jaw and face bone surgery. Other ps clinics doctors are generalists. You may want to get advice from the specialist so you can compare with other clinics on your list. Bone surgery is a major surgery and it's not easy to get a revision.
