Reading your story got me so mad! We are entrusting them with our faces and providing money to their economy. Foreign patients now make up a substantial portion of their clients without whom many of these places would shut down! So, this is how we get treated? To be honest, I have a tendency to sometimes get intimidated around authority figures (doctors, lawyers etc.) who have more knowledge in their field and "go with the flow". Now, I'm going to keep your story in mind and stay alert during my "journey" to Seoul and remember that I'm the customer and, as such, deserve to be treated with respect.

ah you know i'm feeling just like that, we pay to learn from our mistakes, with money or with something else, always with shame... but it shouldn't be like that  it's so unfair and cruel, if you don't always watch out something bad will happen

Does anyone have tips on bargaining? I'm usually a very soft spoken person who agrees to anything so do I just ask for a lower price? I don't plan to go with a translator but my host mom.

to that I would add informed. I'm not the most assertive person in the world, but, as they say, knowledge is power. so it seems crucial to know the going rates for some of the procedures you want done and use it as a reference point.

When I did consultation at a clinic I spoke to the doctor only, no consultant
And when I went to another clinic I spoke to a consultant first and then the doctor
But I prefer only speaking to the doctor...but anyway, there isn't always a consultant involved first!

It's difficult gauging local rates when we're quoted crazy fees as foreigners. For example, I'm thinking about PRP FG and hear that 1.5mil is reasonable - yet most clinics want 2-3mil.

problem is there is no set rate, just a relative price range which depends on the popularity of the clinic and the reputation of the surgeon. A surgeon who is sought after and has the skills to back it up,is naturally able to justify a higher fee for their services. I mean in the US a renowned surgeon can set the price two or even three times that of what other surgeons would charge and still be booked up for surgeries. Because if finances allow for it, patients will not seek to improve their face on a budget. But in Korea you won't find that huge a price gap because there is far too much competiton compared to the US. Therefore you can generally tell when you are quoted something absurd. eg. someone who's case is not complicated gets charged 5 million won and up for a primary rhino using silicone.

That small jump in price you got quoted for the prp is actually very reasonable of a price range. At the higher end it is possible that the surgeon is more reputable and if you get other procedures along with it you can definitely drop the price. If it goes 4 mill and up then that would be a situation where you know they are overcharging. As you get your quotes from different clinics and do ure research on the surgeon's credentials you will be able to better gauge a comparative price point.

Hi there,

my face is still pretty swollen like a pig so i shall reserve my comments till the swelling subsides!

In terms of facilities i believe 365mc is the best you can get in korea.. whole building specialising only in lipo and different surgeons working on specific areas only. Most of their clients seem to be local too.

Another clinic quote me ridiculous rate in USD, with 10% added VAT even though I'm paying by cash.

A member here went to them without having to pay the 10% VAT!

It's really ridiculous, they anyhow charge according to their liking.

I'm worrying more if my eyes would recover well enough to look "normal" in a month time.

Because eyes is the first thing people would look at when they're talking to you. It would be so one kind if I'm being discovered.

If someone can please answer... For anyone going soon: how many clinics are you consulting with? Are you doing them all in one day, and how many hours do you space them in between? I only have two right now and they are spaced 4 hours apart (one hour put in for lunch). The second one (Dream) i might cancel if they charge for 3d scans..
