I have few questions about going to Korea for surgery: Would you reccomend it?

Recommended Posts

I’m interested in correcting my jaw and nose. I’m not unhappy with the way I look right now at all, but I think if I made my jaw less long and nose straighter/thinner, I would look better.

I have so many questions and I was hoping the people here would be able to answer, because I see a lot of threads about Korean plastic surgery and some people here seem to be very knowledgeable or have already gotten work done in Korea.

1. Would you recommend going to Korea for PS if you’re not Asian?

I’m not Asian, I am Arabic from Iraq and I live in the USA. But I don’t want to get anything done here, I have read too many horror stories about US doctors and their before +afters are not as impressive. I know there are good and bad doctors everywhere, but this has scared me away from getting it done here. From my research, in Korea your money goes farther and I have seen their before/afters and shows like “Let Me In.” The work they do is so amazing. And I’m assuming they must have more experience then US doctors because large clinics preform more surgeries then one of the hundreds of smaller clinics in the US. Maybe I am wrong about this, but this is what it seems like to me. Please correct me if my assumptions are incorrect.
But the work they do is all on Asian people, and Asian people have different bone structure than Caucasians. So would they have less experience on a Caucasian person with typically Arab features (A “beaky” nose for ex? :/)?

2. Which is the best clinic to go to? Which is the most trustworthy?

I know this is kind of subjective and I will get different answers, but some places have a lot of bad reviews. ID was the first clinic I researched, and I read some good reviews, but some that were really really bad. People said that their surgery was botched, and that doctors there do a “bait and switch,” where patients think they will be operated by the main/recognized surgeon there and once they were under and in surgery, they would not be operated on by the doctor. Instead, they would have a different doctor operate them. I immediately wrote them off after reading that, and some of the others that had really bad reviews.

I am considered Wonjin for a while, but I started reading a lot of good things about Banobagi and Regen.

Banobagi doesn’t seem to have a lot of bad reviews, I have heard mostly good things about them. And their before and afters are beautiful to me. But there are also others that have equally good reviews and nice before and afters, its hard to choose.

3. Are doctor’s in Korea noted for suggesting unnecessary procedures or deviating from the original procedures?

There are so many stories from the US, even about board certified doctors, of doctors either recommending procedures other than what the patient originally asked for/unnecessary procedures, or actually doing things besides what was originally intended during surgery. And this a lot of times is what causes botched surgeries.

Is it the same way in Korea? Again, I understand there are bad doctors everywhere and that you can’t generalized, but are any of the big Korean clinics/well-known doctors noted for frequently doing this?

4. Finally, what are the risks of Jaw/Chin surgery? Is it a very dangerous procedure? What are the possible complications? Are they disfiguring?

Most of the patients I have seen in before and afters from websites look very good, and reviews from people who have gotten in done on the Internet (not from the clinic websites, but on forums like this) seem like they are much happier after they get the surgery done.

I know that was very long and that there are tons of threads about this, but I want to have a lot of knowledge before I even consider getting a consultation. As I already said, I think I look nice now, but I want to enhance my appearance I guess (I hope that doesn’t sound too vain >_>). If the surgery I got done made me look worse, or disfigured me after I spent all the money and traveled to a foreign country, I would be completely devastated.

I appreciate everyone’s replies/help here. You’re really helping me out a lot. ^_^

**Also sorry for any spelling and/or grammar mistakes. English is not my first language and I try very hard to spell and use punctuation as best as I can***

I'll give some short answers:

PS is PS everywhere, if you do your research you can find the best PS surgeons of any country but in some cases the best PS surgeon of that country might still not be good enough.
Korea is absolutely better than the United States, "hands down" like they say in the US
there are bad surgeons pretending to be good surgeons everywhere and there are surgeons doing bad surgery and getting away with it everywhere
if you do your research and if you're careful you can avoid those surgeons everywhere
surgery in the US is more expensive and not as good, that's also right

just do your research and you'll be okay.

all surgery is risky
all traffic is risky
but lots of people get jaw surgeries
and multiple surgeries at once
and lots of people ride on the backs of scooters holding on to 5 shopping bags and nothing else speeding down the highway
and most of those people are fine
and some of those people die
the risks are always there, if you're really worried don't get surgery and walk everywhere but then there's not much point to living.

Choose your own set of procedures you want and only revise it if at least 3 surgeons have the SAME opinion that you should revise (add/remove certain things from your list).

Doctor everywhere who are thirst of money will suggest more than you need, not only in Korea but also Thailand n America. You are the only one who can make the judgement call.

4. Finally, what are the risks of Jaw/Chin surgery? Is it a very dangerous procedure? What are the possible complications? Are they disfiguring?

# href="#" class="internalLink"># Some people said the worst risk of face contouring surgery is death, which happens a lot in reality. However, I think that's not the worst, the worst is ended up with a disfigured face and having to live with it in regret for their life. However, many who has researched so much that they believe they are making an informed decision, can minimise the risks with their choice of surgeons and go through surgery safely. YOLO and only you are responsible for that choice.

"I know that was very long and that there are tons of threads about this, but I want to have a lot of knowledge before I even consider getting a consultation. " There is absolutely no short cut and/or alternatives to reading everything on this forum.

People on this forum are not obliged to help you, only you can help yourself.

"f the surgery I got done made me look worse, or disfigured me after I spent all the money and traveled to a foreign country, I would be completely devastated. "

If you don't want to spend the rest of your life in regret, go read and read and read until you understand fully what you're getting into. and no one can help you make a decision of what you should do with your face or which doctor or clinic should break your face apart in a surgery but yourself. So spend a good 2-3 weeks reading this forum and you'll have all the answers you need.
