Dr Kim at BK Hospital

Recommended Posts

I had the same bad experience with BK, they are a disgrace and should be shut down. When I had my consultation also after 2 hour wait, the doctor was almost shouting at me for asking questions and telling me I was wrong in what I wanted! Dr Hong is his name. I was shocked he would speak to me like that and even my translator Zoe said please don't choose him he didn't even listen to you and was so abrupt. Honestly if you were there you would think we were having an argument and that he was about to punch me, you would never think it was a consultation.

I also had my eye surgery with Teiumps and happy with the results but do not go there for anything else as there was an accident and they burned me badly and I have a very very big ugly scar on my chin.

To : Hong Kong Phoey - Don't be ridiculous! I am not working for BK n getting business for them! I am a 56 year old Singaporean who had a few procedures done with them. I don't recommend BK, I just share my experience online. And I always ask people to visit a few clinics/doctors and choose the one suitable for them! So be careful with what you say . Don't talk nonsense if you don't know the facts! Maybe you are working for a rival hospital or clinic?! So people , just choose whichever hospital/doctor you like best. Choose yourself, don't listen to anybody lah. So to Hong Kong Phoey - pls mind your words and don't speculate and make things up!!

I don't understand why people have to be so nasty online and make false accusations whenever someone gives good comments about the hospital they went to. Just because some people have bad experience at a certain hospital, doesn't mean other people cannot have positive/ good experience at the same hospital. And when they give good comments, those who had bad experience there - accuse these people of working for the hospital and getting paid for recommending or is a staff there. This is really very childish! I only share my own experience to help others who do not have any info or experience there. Common sense will tell you to hear others' feedback but to do your own homework , check out the places yourselves and make your own independent choice, not based on other peoples' comments.
Anyway, I am done with all this. No point wasting my time to help people when forums are so full of nasty and childish people. My last advice is : just make a trip there, visit a few clinics/hospitals/ doctors and choose the one most suitable for you. No point reading others' comments. Google and read info on the hospitals only, forums are a waste of time really!! Good luck to all the first timers in plastic surgery, I hope you will choose the right hospital/doctor and have a good experience like me.

Susan, this board has really gone to h*** and I completely agree with you. Despite having posted here for the last YEAR or so, I just got accused as well for "promoting" a hospital that I 1) did not even go to, and 2) actively warned another poster against going! The accuser apparently did not read my post carefully and thought I was trying to do business for the Grand clinic (when I had recommended *against* further surgeries or spending any more money).

I agree with you about this -- I keep reading "this clinic was blacklisted" and "that clinic was blacklisted." Um, where is this exact list and what does it mean to be blacklisted? I'm about to get off the forum myself... Very annoying.

hello people,

i am new here and i wish to ask you all about plastic surgery in korea. I have several questions:

1. Which hospital has the best reputation? I have been recommended BK, Regen, ID and TL. If anyone has experience with any of them please let me know what you think.

2. Is it wise to use different doctor for different area? I plan to do eyes, nse, lips and facial contouring. Or is it better to use just one doctor? I read that Dr. Shin is good for eyes and nose while Dr Hong specialises in facial contouring (from BK), is this true?

3. I have pictures of the nose and lips in mind, is it OK to tell the doctor I want this shape or they will suggest somethign that would suit my face?

Thank you in advance! Cheers!

you should both understand that bad surgery, death, ruined face are serious consequences.
a clinic losing a few thousand dollars is not. someone's pride getting hurt is not. if you want to go because someone didn't gei ni mianzi enough then go. anyone who made a mistake is sorry. i might have also falsely accused some people and I'm sorry if that was the case. but when it comes to losing face, i rather take people not gei wo mianzi than some dirty clinic ruin my face with surgical knives.
if anyone rather give face all around than have information that tries to give the good and the bad even if it sometimes errs on the side of caution, they can get what's coming to them... i have been attacked by some people here too. so what? i try my best. it helps many people. if i can help many people i'm happy. if i make a mistake i'm sorry. if i lose face in some people's eyes it's okay. the people i helped will think different. ladybugz, i think the people you helped will also think different. they will be grateful. isn't that more important? people make mistakes. we should all forgive each other when that happens.

newdirection:
1. read the forums more, whoever recommended those clinics wants your money.
2. it's better to use different doctors for different areas because different doctors specialize in different things.
3. it's okay to show the doctor what you want. you should understand that it's not always possible to get exactly what you want. for example, if you have a super round face with big bones, it's not possible to get a super slim face. it's good to show the pictures to the doctor and see his reaction. try to see if he is realistic, if he explains to you why something isn't possible, or if he's doctor that will do what he thinks is best no matter what and doesn't want to listen to you.

Hi all,
Just thought I would share my thoughts. I work in surgery here in the US and I have to say that it is indeed common practice at big hospitals (especially those associate with a university) to have others doctors actually operate and have the head surgeon supervise. I dont know how it works in Korea but "switching" as it has been referred to on this site is very common. It is not so much that there is a switch as much as there is a team working on you and the head surgeon you spoke with is likely observing and teaching in several rooms at a time.
I personally would not want a training doctor to operate on me and that is why I have knocked some of the really big hospitals off my list. Don't know if that helps or not but my 2cents would be to stick to mid-large size places and avoid the really huge hospitals that have too much volume.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to post an update as to what happened with my complaint against Dr. Kim Byung Gun of BK hospital. As I stated on my first post, I filed a complaint against Dr. Kim to Korean Consumer Agency. The mediator for my case, recommended to settle a compensation but BK hospital refused to acknowledge that they made a mistake. After this, the case got escalated to the "determining the fault phase". The final judgement is based on the evidence evaluated by the consumer representative, business representative, doctors and even lawyers. After about a month of their evaluation, I received their 10 pages report with the final judgement. I am posting the main statement page with the judgement. It's in Korean. Basically based on their findings, Dr. Kim of BK hospital should pay me the compensation of 200,0000 WON. They state that Dr. Kim Byung Gun did not provide the service I requested resulting in my unsatisfactory result. They believe I require a revision to get the result I originally had requested.

Korean Consumer Agency is the government created institution to protect consumers. For all intents and purposes, they strives to make a fair judgement based on evidence and expert's testimonies. In my case, the judgement of 200,000 WON hardly compensate for the pain and suffering I went through and still going through both psychologically and physically. However, I respect and accept their judgement.... after all, they are a panel of experts and a third party whose only objective is to provide a fair judgement. Astonishingly, even after receiving this judgement, Dr. Kim Byung Gun of BK hospital has rejected the judgement and therefore refuse to make the compensation to me. He is probably hoping that I will not pursue this matter further since I reside overseas. This callous gesture truly reflects the greed and arrogant nature of this surgeon who obviously lacks conscience.

In order to get compensated, I now have to take him to court. I am planning to visit Korea next year so I am finding out about the process of Korean court system as much as possible to proceed with it.

KJJ: thank you for the update, it's very much appreciated! I'm happy they decided in your favor, this decision might give hope to those in a similar situation. Are you Korean/half-Korean or full foreigner? I'm so sorry that the arrogant butcher still doesn't want to pay, especially as the amount of money is nothing to him  please please keep us updated if you take him to court and let us know the outcome. if more people from outside Korea follow up on surgeons who screwed up and take the matter to the consumer agency and to court maybe it will improve the situation for everyone when it's no longer possible for a surgeon to think "if i do a bad job on a foreigner i can be 100% sure i get no consequences"
