janberan Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has had success with fat grafting to nasolabial folds (smile lines) or nasolabial implants? Im considering this option as I've heard nasolabial implants have changed people's smiles but I'm unsure if this has occurred with everyone who has undergone the procedure. From what I've gathered, fat grafting is suggested as being a more cost effective procedure in comparison to fillers but there's no point in paying thousands if the fat just reabsorbs anyway just like dermal fillers.
kkim120 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Hmm, I know that there's a forumer who had received a paranasal implant but had to take it out because it ruined her smile. If I remember correctly, her lips/mouth isn't quite what it used to be even before the implants. I'm planning on getting a full face fat graft come December. Hopefully at least some of the fat stays!
susaki Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 My frd have done fat grafting to smile lines and is now one mth post op, smile lines improved
janberan Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Thanks for the reply guys ! I saw Bongqiuqiu's post on her recent nasolabial implant surgery and I can't tell if it has changed her smile or not.. Some shots she still looks the same but others she looks a bit unnatural. I don't know if that's because she's had other surgeries too. I'm just hoping that if I get fat graft it'd last a while and not look like I've done nothing at all to them
k-couture Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 i've had friends who have had paranasal before and they all complain that it does not feel natural. I feel like its more of a gimmick procedure like that new smile surgery. Results also tend to be barely noticable even to the trained eye, and this doesn't mean its natural looking, it means that change is insignificant. I personally found that tissue manipulation procedures like the concentric malar lift yields far better results. I mean all the before and afters i have seen plastered all over the internet are clearly not the after effects of only the paranasal, but a combination of other procedures.
janberan Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 Hey K, thanks for your insightful response ! I guess I'll definitely cross the implants off my list. I first heard about the concentric malar lift from yourself and the results are exactly what I want! I have a very chubby face but it also looks flat because it seems like gravity has caused my excessive fat to slightly sag and puddle around my lower cheeks. I was wondering would be the lift be an ideal for a young person? I'm only in my early 20s. I was considering the Power V Lift to create a defined jawline and remove fat from my lower cheeks so that my face doesn't look so chubby towards the bottom but I'm afraid it may cause my sagging and a gaunt look when I'm older. Please let me know what your thoughts are on my issue
janberan Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 I forgot to mention I was suggested by Banobagi to have a Cheek endotine lift procedure performed.. This also sounds like a huge procedure for someone so young like myself. Fat grafting sounds a whole lot less invasive, the only thing I'm worried about though is having an even chubbier face which I've hated all my life
k-couture Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 without knowing what you look like i can't say. But generally people your age with fuller faces who want to obtain a slimmer face should not get fat grafts. You also shouldn't get a concentric malar lift if your face is fuller too. What it does is the procedure actually grabs your soft tissue from the side and lower jaw area and pulls it to the mid cheek area. If you have a fuller face this may result in those mariah carey chipmunk cheeks (not attractive) and also affect your 45 degree angle dimensions negatively. So unless u remove your fatty tissue first, the concentric malar lift will not be an ideal procedure for your situation. It worked out well for me because i had 2 buccal fat removals and facial liposuction before i attempted the procedure. I don't know much about the power V so i can't comment. But if u r looking for non invasive with great results for volume reduction, use the acculift. Its a laser lipo that takes 30 mins max. Mine took 10 mins actually lol. I was even walking to the bathroom and facebooking on my phone right after. The nurses had to snatch my mobile away from me cos it was just meant to be a pee break before the next procedure haha.
janberan Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Hey K couture, Did you find the acculift procedure having any lifting effects? One if my main concerns is sagging as that's what I think I have and the volume. Do you mind me sending you my pictures privately for your opinion?
k-couture Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 you can add me to kakao: Kcouture i dunno if acculift has any lifting properties. I am 2 months post op. That is not enough time to know its effectiveness as a lift. Korean surgeons swear by it but Western surgeons say the lift is a temporary gimmick as a result of heat from the the laser and swelling. I will probably only know after 6 months. Also sagging can be caused by a variety of reasons. Old age (which is not you). Weak bone structure. Weak facial muscles, or a combination of weak bone and facial muscles. Too much loose skin with insufficient volume (happens when too much fat is taken out). Too much volume. Yours may be that you have alot of fatty tissue causing the face to be heavier. If so then you may not even require any lifting effect, just volume reduction will do.
wishingstar Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I'm actually wondering the same! I'm considering getting the fat grafts to the paranasal area (and like you don't want an implant there and also am worried about paying a lot for something that is potentially temporary or doesn't have any effect). 1) Does anyone know how much paranasal fat graft usually costs or have any rough idea? 2) Has anyone had any success with this being permanent? Does it actually make a big difference?
janberan Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Wow it's been such a long time since I've been on these boards! To answer your question I did in fact have my fat placed in the paranasal area.. There was obvious improvement after the surgery but a lot of it was also swelling.. I am now going onto my 8th week post surgery. I have absorbed most of the fat in the area, if not all. I can't tell if the improvement was also due to my power v lift procedure which is essentially facial liposuction. Judging from how I look right now, I'd say there is some improvement, but I would definitely need another session or two to completely remove. I am however a smoker, and smoking is believed to restrict blood circulation thereby causing some of the fat cells to die much quicker than in non smokers.
lanvinfiend Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Another vote against paranasal implants. A friend got them, and they were pretty ineffective in masking the grooves, and were unevenly placed to boot!
wishingstar Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I think I'm against the implants too....am considering fat graft to paranasal but worried that the effect may not be long lasting enough..hmmm (esp for the price...does anyone have any idea how much it should cost?)
lanvinfiend Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I don't find fg to nasolabial very effective, once the swelling goes down. It's one of those areas with a lot of motion like chewing, smiling, talking, which means the fat doesn't last. It's a lot of downtime for such a subtle change. Sigh! Regretting this slightly. It's a bit of a catch-22. Doesn't seem like either option works great for naso labial!
