chinimplant
Hey all! I've been on the forums for some time now and can't seem to find doctors who are willing to use ear or septal cartilage for the bridge. For me the risks seem appropriate given that soft silicone is relatively new it's hard to judge the long term effects. I know VIP can use rib but obviously it's evasive. The big names seem to only want to use ultrasoft silicone. Are there any companies using ear or skeptical cartilage for the bridge. I'm a guy so a refined tip isn't necessary and my bridge is good enough to wear glasses well, but I need it a bit higher. Anyone have any recommendations? Maybe smaller firms can offer this? Your help is greatly appreciated.
noitsyou
It's not that doctors aren't willing to use septal. Septal is an ideal material but Asians don't usually have enough septal cartilage to use. Another option is fat graft which is what I'm considering. I've asked a few surgeons and they say it runs the risk of spreading.
k-couture
the ear cartilage method you are inquiring about commonly comes in 2 forms. Diced cartilage with fascia or diced cartilage with fat graft. As with any autologous grafts, they both carry aesthetic side effects.
chinimplant
I found out that dream offers fat graft with septal cartilage for the nose for 4.5 krw. I am going to call them to see how they expect the shape to stay solid if the fat is not wrapped. I read that only a small percentage of people require it to be redone even if it does get asymmetrical because it's so minor. Personally a bit of uneveness is good because it won't look fake. I've seen nodes on Asians where it looked too perfect. As Asians we have limitations based on what were born with, have such a straight and high nose already seems suspect. I'm gonna link medical journals that have done studies on the effect of cartilage in the bridge to end the debate so we can use numbers to decide for our selfs of what's the acceptable risk and what's not.
