Activities in Seoul that Complement post-PS Healing & Other Related Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Yay! I can finally start a thread topic! :supacool:

So now that I feel fairly prepared with the medical/"work" aspects of planning for my PS trip, I'm starting to wonder about the tourist/"play" aspects of my travel to Seoul, and what would be some good activities (both sightseeing and cosmetic) to do after surgery, that could also possibly promote quicker recovery too. It'll also be my first time in Korea, so I'd like to see some sights too, so any other "must see" places for first time visitors -- esp. that's okay to do after surgery -- please recommend!

Since I'll be basically 'blind' (no glasses for 7 days, no contacts for 3-4 days), but would want to walk to promote faster de-swelling, and sightseeing(!) first I'm wondering if anyone's found a good way to still be able to wear glasses without it sitting on the nose (I recall some talk about possibly using a transparent fishline or thread to hold up the glasses/attach to hat or something haha, or some foam to put on the lower rim to have it sit on the cheeks instead of nose... but has anyone actually done that and it worked ok? lol.. but I draw the line to taping it to my forehead, I do not want to look completely ridiculous hahaha)...

Some of the hotspots I'm thinking about / want to check out (maybe 2-4 days post surgery is):

- Bongeunsa Temple: I can take off glasses contraption (hahah!), walk around, sit in the back of the temple somewhere, and meditate for an hour or so, feel some good vibes, set some good intentions, prayers, and basically zen the eff out. maybe have some vegetarian food too if it's available there, and chill out with the monks.

- Walk alongside the Cheonggyecheon Stream in the middle of Seoul

- Walk around Meyoungdong shopping district for some clothing / accessories. Any recommendations for particular good/popular places, well known sales outlets, especially for items I wouldn't be able to find in the states?

- Bukhansan National Park & Tower (maybe have contacts on for this): hike up the mountain, check out the views of Seoul from the mountain, and tower on top. Breathe in some fresh air, be in nature, maybe chill out and have a picnic / snack in some scenic lookout point.

- Visit a traditional jimjibang (bath house / spa). Any thoughts on whether this would be advisable, especially for full body scrubs (if I wrap my face / tell them not to touch or get my face wet) and SAUNA?? I think getting wounds and sutures wet wouldn't be advised, but I'm also thinking the dry infrared sauna may dilate blood vessels to help promote faster wound healing, as well as detox the medicines/anesthesia from my body.

Also, what other cosmetic procedures (non-PS) would be okay? For instance, I know having a chemical peel is pretty much out of the question (unless the searing pain of acid on a face wound is your cup of tea...), think hair removal/lasers on arms/legs be okay? I also have a few keloid scars on my shoulder and chest, would it be okay to go for treatment for that too, any associated pain?

I'll be traveling alone, so any thoughts, ideas, recommendations, suggestions, comments on any of this is much appreciated!
