wishingstar Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Does anyone know if acculift (laser lipo) under the chin leaves a scar? If so, how big is the scar, and how long did it take for yours to fade? I'm interested in having this done but terrified of possible scarring! Would appreciate any advice
wishingstar Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Bump Anyone had experience with this before?
wishingstar Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Btw if anyone is curious, a consultant i contacted said acculift for chin fat will leave a 2-5 mm long scar under the chin. Anyone else concerned about scarring? Or are yours invisible?
k-couture Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 doesn't leave a scar. Most likely you will get a pot that looks like a scratch temporarily but it disappears after a few weeks. But it also depends on how your body reacts. Its very rare for people to have any significant scarring with acculift because its not an invasive procedure. I mean I had external incision from a revision chin augmentation to remove a silicone and replace it with hydroxy and its a 3cm long incision made under the chin. It first appeared as a thin white line and then weeks later it was gone. And i'm the sort who keloids easily.
wishingstar Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Thanks for the info, KCouture, and glad you didn't scar there! I scar easily, too....I still have a dark visible raised scar in my belly button from where fat was taken for the fat graft last time 8 months ago! Are you happy with your final acculift result for your under chin area, and was the difference (or lack of) worth it in your opinion?
zinc Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Sorry if this seems slightly out of topic: I've been reading about Acculift and traditional liposuction because like you I'm considering getting some stubborn under-chin fat removed but it appears that although korean doctors seem to think acculift is less invasive, western doctors seem to think that acculift/smartlipo or other laser-assisted liposuction is simply gimmicky and has not been conclusively proven to have a great advantage over the results that can be achieved with traditional liposuction.. having probably have done more research than me, what would be the reason for which you'd choose acculift over liposuction if you don't mind me asking? :S also I've had some laproscopic surgery done which initially left horrible scars but I used silicone scar gels which helped a lot for 2-3cm scars, so maybe using that might help if you're worried about scarring!
hj88 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I've read a lot of similar things from the doctors on RealSelf about Acculift. But I wonder whether they aren't just trying to push traditional lipo for their own reasons? I'm going to have my double chin done later this year (if I still need it after all the swelling goes down after my vline surgery). I'll probably get mine done in Taiwan, so I don't know if they do Acculift there or something else as I haven't really started researching yet. FWIW, My BF had the Power V Lift done at TLPS at the beginning of the year. I know a lot of people are sceptical about that procedure but the results were amazing on a very poorly defined chin and jawline. The scars are non-existent they are that tiny. There's one just behibd each ear and one under the chin. I haven't looked at them for a while but 4 months post-op they were like tiny acne scars.
zinc Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Hrmm I'm not sure if they had an agenda.. but it seems unlikely seeing as it was done on a medical forum and not say, on their own clinic website if you know what I mean! but of course I wouldn't rule that out.. ah good luck for your procedure! I hope the v-line surgery would be enough, all these procedures are so expensive.. also, thanks for mentioning about the power v lift, I've not heard about it before and just looked it up, it seems like a better alternative to just accusculpt, would you be considering doing that instead?
hj88 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Yeah you just never know- even though it's a public forum, those doctors aren't respinding to people out of the goodness of their hearts, it's a publicity stunt for them to get their names out there as "go-to guys". In my case, vline exacerbated a pre-existing problem because my chin implant was removed and my old chin was set back, which made any chin fat really obvious when it never used to be *sob* I would definitely do Power V if I had time to do it in Korea. It's just that my next stretch of time off work will be when I'm in Taiwan, so I'd rather kill two birds with one stone rather than taking more time off work to get Power V done in Korea. I don't know whether doctors in Taiwan do Power V. So far I've only seen The Line and TLPS calling it that. (But I think it's just a gimmick name for a procedure that essentially involves lipo and some laser skin tightening). I know The Line is having a promo on it at the moment for 1.5 million won on its Korean ads, to give you an idea of pricing for it. My BF paid 1.65 mill at TLPS during peak season
zinc Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Wow 1.5mil or 1.65mil sounds so much cheaper than the 3.3 mil I was quoted for acculift at banobagi! I might do that if I have time, I've lived with a double chin issue despite having a very low bmi my whole life so it's always been something many people point out would be nice to finally get rid of it! Although I do fear that it might accelerate ageing.. There is a school of thought that taking fats away from your face or neck makes it easier for wrinkles to appear.. Did you hear about that?
wishingstar Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Power V sounds interesting! Is it basically acculift plus a lower face lift (using thread....)? Or just traditional lipo + acculift?
zinc Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 It seems like they use a mesh to pull the excess skin like a face lift but also remove the offending fat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_u1kI-s0VQ! @HJ88 someone's just told me TL plastic surgery is going bankrupt and the cheap prices are to lure patients to go despite some unsuccessful cases they've had D; did you know anything about that? I'm not sure if this is true!
hj88 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I think the mesh lifting is a different procedure. I think the power V is basically lipo, collagen remodelling and SMAS tightening using laser. I don't know anything about a bankruptcy.. Every time I've ever been there the place has been packed. And I've probably been there 8 times in the last 6 months accompanying my BF who did Power V and then my own vline surgery and post op. It's been mostly Koreans (85%), some Chinese (10%) and like 5% English speakers I've seen in the post-op waiting rooms. Except one time there was a group of Chinese there in the New Year period I saw.
butterysticks Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Please continue this thread! I was looking into v-line and now I think what I really need is acculift/power v-line. There's not much information on the topics though. Did anyone have an experience with these treatments? How long are these treatments effective for?
hj88 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 My BF had Power V In January. He looks like a different person. All the genetic fats are just gone. It makes his jawline look sharp and oval rather than round. He used to have typical asian round face. Considering we thought he was going to need a chin implant to improve his jawline that's a pretty good result. Also the recovery was so quick (similar downtime for the heavy acne scar lasers) and pretty cheap too.
