skinnypig Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hi guys! I haven't posted in a long time since I've been slack on research lately, but I've found something quite interesting that I couldn't just keep quiet about~ So the other day I was reading through the ameblo blog of one of my favourite magazine models, and saw that she had visited a clinic known as '小顔科学研究所' in Osaka, Japan. The name translates literally to "Small Face Scientific Institute/Laboratory," but I'll refer to it as Kogaokagaku. It is 'supported' by WClinic, a popular plastic surgery clinic in Osaka. It was quite obvious that it was perhaps sponsored, but it seems like she frequents the clinic (I'm more skeptical if it's a one-off thing), so there were probably some promising results. They have quite a lot of celebrities like Yusuke Yamamoto (*swoon*) and Popteen/JELLY models who promote them and get treatment done there... It just makes me feel a little more secure that what they're selling isn't some intricately fabricated stunt to rob people of their money Apparently, Kogaokagaku can give you a smaller face, with less prominent cheekbones, sharper chin/vline, correct your nose and face length, and reduce facial fat... within the limits of what's possible without having to go under the knife!!! All of this is supposedly achieved through a special method of massage. They also use acupuncture for this, as well as for remedying saggy skin. The head guy Matsunishi is a specialist in osteopathy (physical manipulation of bones, joints, muscles, etc) and is a qualified acupuncturist. He claims that the skull is made up of 23 "jigsaw puzzle like" parts of bone with are fitted together. He said that, when you are still a baby younger than 6mo, these bone parts are not yet "fixed" together yet, but will be bound when you are 1.5yo. When you are this age, the way these bone parts are fixed together are relatively perfect (versus the older you). As you grow older, you develop bad habits such as leaning your face on your hands, sleeping in bad positions on your face, chewing food on one side of the mouth, grinding teeth... etc. These bad habits' external forces which are gradually applied over time will distort and shift these puzzle pieces of bone in your face as you can see here. (link) Furthermore, when your facial bones become distorted, it causes the flow of blood and lymph nodes in your face to not flow smoothly. This in turn affects your facial muscles, skin, and fat - sagging, pimples, etc. They say they can even increase your nose bridge by 2-3mm, reduce the angle of your mandible... So basically somewhat like bone manipulation. But take note you can't change the shape of your jaw side view like what jaw shaving can do. I think the first session costs around 178,000yen ($1780), and follow up sessions cost 20,000 yen. (~$200) Quite costly if you ask me... But I guess I'd still prefer something like this over an invasive surgery..? This is their page for anyone who is interested. My Japanese is not so good so I may have not got everything down! (http://kogaokagaku.com/) I also attached an image of a B&A I got off their instagram just in case anyone wants to see how effective the results are. I'm visiting Japan at the end of this year, and will be in Osaka as well. If I do get a chance I will probably stop by this clinic, but I'm not so sure if I have $1780 bucks to just spare on a facial massage LOL... So what do you all think? It's quite interesting to me, I would try it if I was rich *lol* I wonder how different the massage must be from normal facials, since this type of massage is supposedly gonna "shift" all your bone parts back into place... o.o PS. This is not a promotion~
chibiowl Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Is it just me or does that girl in the picture look cuter before the treatment.
k-couture Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 sounds too good to be true lol. I hope its true tho that would make life so much easier. Both health wise and financially haha. But i doubt this actually works.
skinnypig Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 It does kind of seem like those type of treatments where as soon as you stop going to regular sessions, any results you achieved will just disappear and you'll revert back to your former self
skinnypig Posted May 12, 2015 Author Posted May 12, 2015 True, she looked cuter with the bit of cheek fat!
dave-gl Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Wow that's interesting. If a face massage starts to physically manipulate your aesthetic appearance, must be a hardcore massage. Bonus for those who like facials and massage, two in one!
k-couture Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 only non surgical treatment i've seen that wrks is ulthera and thermage, but even those have very very minimal results. I doubt this method actually works. To me it looks like she just had botox to the jaw muscle
