hanohano Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Many clinics say that you can return home after two weeks, but a few users have suggested to stay in whatever country they have surgery in for at least a month because then you can go back to the clinic for checkups to make sure you have no complications. Is returning to your own country after a major surgery (e.x. Double jaw) after 2 weeks a bad idea? I'm a college student and I would never have the time to take a month off from school, and I'm planning to do surgery at some point this year.
hj88 Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I think it totally depends on the surgery and also you. Any time I have surgery overseas (4 times now) I always prefer to stay as long as possible. This is also because I have wanted to stay in the country for all necessary follow up treatment and avoid having to have doctors back home take stitch out or anything. Mainly also I don't want any records of my surgery showing up in my home country! The first time I did nose and brow lift, I stayed in Taiwan for 17 days. Second time I did chin and cheek implant in Taiwan also I stayed 2 weeks (stitches were dissolvable). Third time I did cheek implant removal at Oz Clinic in Korea I stayed 1 week (stitches were dissolvable). This time v-line and fat graft - I live in Korea If I was to do Vline and return home, honestly I think 3 - 4 weeks is my preference, also because the swelling is so persistent, I don't want anyone at home to see and also no doctors at home maybe can help if I run into problems - Koreans are experts. For something like 2 Jaw, I personally think it is CRAZY to even consider less than a month. That is major a** surgery and you need to follow up with your doc constantly. If you can't invest the time to do it properly and ensure everything okay before you leave, better not to do it I tbink.
