alytrn Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 This might be a silly question but I was wondering do you go to each individual Dr for a face to face consultation? I was wondering how does this work? i've seen these people seeing all these Korean doctors before they decided on their surgery and i don't know how they do it. Do they book a round trip airplane ticket to see all these doctors then fly back to the state to think over their options, then fly back out again when they're ready for the surgery? Or do they see the doctors then book the surgery the next day? On youtube, there's one girl flew to Korea and saw at least two different doctors then she decided on one and get the surgery on the very next day. I always wonder, what if they didn't have a spot available for her on that day? Would she have to move her flight schedule?
hj88 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Yes, some people do go to consult each individual doctor. I don't think many fly back home, but they choose the hospital they want and schedule the next available surgery. Of course, if you don't pre-book your doctor you run the risk that the doctor is unavailable while you are in Korea or that you have to wait longer than possible to book surgery (ie if you want to maximise your recovery time). In my opinion, it's a good idea to narrow down your choice of doctor before you go to Korea so you're not meeting 10 different people, as realistically you can't do more than 3 or 4 consults a day. Some of the famous doctors book out months in advance so you may have to book your surgery date in advance (and pay a small deposit fee) if you want a guaranteed surgery spot. Otherwise, you take your chances thAt they will still be available when you go to Korea.
kplove Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 It's more common to choose your clinic before you get to korea and make reservations. Then when you are in korea they let you talk to the clinic who will be doing your surgery. And then after you have seen all the clinics on your list, you can decide on a clinic. Even if they don't have space available, they usually move appointments around to accommodate you since they know you need to leave soon. Hope it helps.
gobeautysave Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Definitely meet the doctor(s) in-person. Narrow down your choices before arriving and meet the doctors. You will have only a limited time to decide after your consultations, if you want the surgery right away.
rockisbae Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I had the same question. How do we deal if we're really set on just like 2 or 3 clinics but they all claim by the time I arrive in december they wont have any space left so i should pay deposit now? (JW, April31, MVP)
trendyl1 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I just got a consultation in person and that really helped me to choose which doctor I wanted to go with!
trendyl1 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 As previous poster said, it's important to at least have a few clinics in mind, which I did however the consultation is what made me decide on where to go.
tom-tom Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 For those who are interested in doing plastic surgery, you should absolutely need a face to face consultation with the surgeon. By then, you can have a better idea of the surgeon like are you comfortable with his analysis and recommendations, are you satisfied with his Q & A etc How can a surgeon give medical advice without actually see your problems face to face???
tom-tom Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 But I think one should do his/her own research and limit the choice to a maximum of 3 We have to be careful that we need the right surgeon but not a good sales man Is he experienced in doing your kind of surgery? Has he done lots of sales talks and make empty promise during consultations? There is no "the best" doctor in the world but only you can find the right doctor who can manage your surgery well and you are satisfied with the result
