wishingstar Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hello from Seoul! Just had revision rhinoplasty and alar reduction plus forehead and nasolabial fold fat graft plus prp, and my face is currently swollen up like a pillow. I'm trying to stay calm, since I need to fly home and look presentable in 7 days ^^ my forehead in particular looks like an alien's right now! I look unrecognizable in the mirror and not in a good way....in the "I just had plastic surgery" way! Those of you who did forehead fat graft before...how many days did it take for you to look normal / like you didn't have surgery? Also, after alar reduction, my nose width almost didn't change and still looks quite wide...i'm wondering if this is due to a LOT of swelling or if a revision is needed. :/ those of you who have had alar reduction. .... did you find that your nose got less wide as time went on? How much change did you actually see after swelling subsided?
hj88 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Yikes hate to break it to you - I had full face fat graft including forehead a month and four days ago and my forehead only started looking normal again last week...
hj88 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Can you cut bangs or part your hair to the side? That might cover the unnatural swell..
wishingstar Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Yikes! Thanks for the honest advice! My hair is unfortunately too fine in texture for straight bangs, so I'm gonna hafta figure something elss out! Did you try drinking pineapple juice and/or pumpkin juice to deswell? Also, are you happy with your final result now?
hj88 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 I tried everything! I drank pure pineapple juice for the first 3 weeks, ate pumpkin soup and drank pumpkin juice. No alcohol, soy sauce, spicy food, salty food etc. Still am taking arnica, bromelain, vitamin C, rutin, papaya enzymes plus my usual multi vitamin and fish oil. To be honest, I was really worried the first month. The FG just looked awful and unnatural and I just couldn't picture how it would 'settle' nicely.. But in the last week or so the plastic surgery 'puff' you mention has come down and it actually looks nice. It's still a little unnatural but not crazy. There's a slight gap between the FG and my eyebrows which I want to see about when I go to do my top up but so far Id say we're looking good haha
wishingstar Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Glad you are liking your result, and wishing you a successful top up! May I ask what % of your initial fat graft remained?
hj88 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Too hard to say. Because the first month was all just swelling this could technically be 100%? But it's early days. I should have a better idea in 6 months time Wishing you speedy de-swell!!
babysevenohx Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hi! Would you mind PMing me your clinic's name and which doctor you had it done with? Thank you so much!
k-couture Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 My forehead fat graft looked normal after a week. As in it didn't look like an alien bulge haha. If you want to play it safe ask the clinic for a deswelling injection and tell them not to charge u! Those injections are not expensive anyway so it should be complimentary. They usually only do it for patients who have excessive swelling but it works for any regular patient too. It reduces the swelling process much more than arnica and bromelain. Alar reduction I used the incisional method in Thailand nearly 10 years ago. I noticed it got immediatedly smaller albeit still swollen. But my notrils were pretty wide and they excised quite alot of tissue from me. That's why i could notice improvement despite the swelling If yours was a minor reduction then the swelling will be concealing the final results. Also, my alars did get smaller within the 6 month deswelling period so i'm sure ures will too. Good luck on your recovery x
wishingstar Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks for the advice, KCouture! I'll def ask about the deswelling injections! I've also heard of a deswelling laser in the past from a consultant at the same clinic....have you tried that before, too? Also, did you do prp with your fat graft or just regular fat graft? Hope you're doing well
k-couture Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 the deswelling laser is called heal lite i think???? something like that. It works too but no where near as good as the injection. the injection hurts like a betch tho just fyi
wishingstar Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks for the heads up and the info! How long after your fat graft ans/or alarplasty were you able to raise your eyebrows, smile, and generally mive your face again btw? I'm unnerved by the fact that i am physically unable to move my eyebrows or smile!
hj88 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Don't try to move your eyebrows on purpose! Keep them resting for as long as you can. The more you move your face, the more fat you can lose, esp this early on after the graft. Some people even get botox done to make sure they don't acidentally lose the fat from their forehead by moving it too much. I couldn't move mine for about 3.5 weeks without it hurting.
k-couture Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 oh i didn't care much for my alar reduction. I just moved however. But for forehead fat graft i consciously restricted movement for a month so as not to disperse the fat graft. However I have issues with giving ppl the evils and *****y stares lol.....so I botoxed my forehead. If u notice any denting don't panic its normal just go ahead and botox the muscles which are causing the dispersion. I had dents just above my brow. After dr park identified and botoxed the applicable muscles the dents were gone within 2 days
wishingstar Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Hi everyone! I'm 2 weeks post op from revision rhino and fat graft with prp to forehead and nasolabial lines and wanted to give an update! Swellung went down a lot (the ultrasound/deswelling laser treatments helped a lot), and my forehead and smile lines look a bit more natural now. Whew! I'm also liking the alarplasty results for the most part now ...looks like a lot of the width had been caused by swelling. I do have some concerns about my revised tip/bridge, though. There's a lower dip / dent that appeared in the area my tip and bridge meet (i think it's called the supratip break point?), which then makes it look like I have a bumpy nose. Has anyone experienced this dent going away naturally before? I'm seriously hoping it's due to residual tip or uneven bridge swelling...not sure what to do if it doesn't resolve itself in a few weeks. Also, the septal extension graft placed in my tip did project my tip more...but it also looks my nose look slightly too long and droopy when smiling now. (There nothing I dislike more than a droopy tip..in fact, one of the reasons for my primary tipplasty had been to insert a collumelar strut to correct my original droopy tip.) I miss the slightly upturned angle after my primary rhino and before my revision and also worry the tip may be a bit too long and pointy. Not sure if this will resolve itself either as healing progresses but it seems unlikely. If anyone has had a similar experience: can i reasonably expect the tip to shrink in projection and length after a septal extension graft is placed in the tip as time goes on and swelling continues to disappear? Or does length and projection pretty much stay the same?
