For those of you researching for procedures.

Hey PF:

I just wanted to caution some of you guys... I've been reading and reading these forums and I wanted to just quickly hash out some things I would advise against doing.

First off: Surgery will NOT fix everything! Be realistic, and not expect perfect results. Often girls will go in expecting one thing then returning again and again to revise. An example of this would be the fact that your nose will droop after rhino. Even after 6months - 1 year of deswelling. This can be due to a variety of reasons such as reabsorption, or even deviation. This is why people go back for revision. It's not just because of a bad job, it's because they want to maintain their look or their aesthetics have changed. I've come across some people on here and talked with them on Kakao. They seem to be not happy about their current looks. I just wanted to say that surgery is NOT the perfect solution for this... go in knowing that it's not one step and you're done. There's a lot that can go wrong... so please beware.

Second off: Avoid agencies such as DocFinder Korea. They make a huge commission off of you (ranging anywhere from 20-30%). Notice how they only ever want you to go for x clinic or y??? That's because they have made a deal with that one particular clinic. Hence why they push for you to go there so much and also tell you that any other clinic besides the ones they recommend you are bad. The commission also is no small mount. It will be tacked on to your surgery fees and it is HUGE depending on what you get. As typical pricing starts from the $1000, this would mean an extra 200-300$ that you would have to pay for. If you're going as a foreigner and speak no Korean, you're already getting inflated prices that are way more then what locals are paying for. So do be careful. AVOID telling your hosts if you're staying at an airbnb or renting a room or similar. Some try and take commission from you by pushing you towards a specific clinic that they have struck a deal with. Please don't try the easy route and rely on an agency or someone else. In today's world, Plastic Surgery business is hugely lucrative. Why try and cut corners when you only have one face? Right? Same goes with translators, but ask ahead and see if there are in house english speaking consultants at the clinic. Save yourself the cash ! Keeping up your guard is also hard, and suspecting your translator 24/7 is tiring... message ahead and arrange things yourself. You are the only one that will have YOUR OWN needs first and foremost. It's likely anyone you hire won't and are just making money. I guess there are some out there that are good and not like what I'm saying... but probably so few that it's better for you just to avoid falling in a trap and getting duped out of your money.

If you're not willing to go out and research for your own face... in my opinion you're not ready to go and do work on your surgery. This is my opinion of course, but if you're aren't willing to commit time to work for good results, then you're not ready for surgery. You need to prepare yourself.

Thirdly: The clinics that are mentioned on Purseforum are not the ONLY ones that are out there in Korea. There are way more out there that do good work too. Please I cannot stress enough: DO YOUR RESEARCH! A good clinic that is popular with locals won't make foreigner marketing their priority. They're busy enough with locals as is, that they don't really have time for more. The 15 or so on here; I have heard great news from each and also terrible news from each and every one too. It pays to do your research so please don't skim on it.

Although people say don't look at before and afters, I disagree. I find them actually a good source. Before and afters of doctors are usually consistent and shows you his portfolio. It also shows his aesthetic sense, which is crucial. If his taste and your taste doesn't match up, you might walk out with eyes that you think is super ugly. But he'll go what ever do you mean??? They look perfect to me! Or you two can vibe (aka. agree) and you'll walk out happy happy happy.

A site that I recommend would be soyoung.com. You'll need to know the Chinese names of the clinics you'll be going to. This is not such a huge issue to find since most clinics have Chinese sites since it's far more common for a Chinese medical tourist to walk through the doors for them then it is for an English speaking one. If anyone else knows a site that is similar to soyoung.com, please do post!

If anyone else thinks of anything that will help others out there please don't hesitate to post. I just don't want any more people going to SK and getting scammed out of their money. I know that some work so hard to save and I really want the best for each and every one of you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me on Kakao. My user ID is the same as my name on here. Good luck with your trips everyone and please stay safe!

This is me translating the Korean name into English from BabiTalk (I'm not actually sure what some of these places call themselves in English): Korea PS, Eight PS, Bi and Me, Lamiche, Image Up, Deluxe, Codi, Mojelim, Gangnam Beauty, Youtiful, Apgujeong Top Line - just to name a few

Babi Talk also is where clinics post their promotions. I would download the app and use google translate or a friend to take a look. You can use the info there to bargain for your own surgeries and avoid getting overcharged.

Sorry about late replies! I rarely check PF now. Reach me on Kakao if you wish to converse

Depends what you're looking for!

The main problem with Naver is that it synthesises search results for Korean articles, so depending on their accuracy the reliability can be a problem.

Ie if you search "fan death" in Naver youll get heaps of articles about people who have apparently died from fans. If you search the same in Google, most English results say it's a load of hog-wash...

Likewise, Koreans aren't allowed to name PS clinics in Korean publications

Helpful post! I've searched and read at least 10+ different blogger posts on surgery clinics before scouring purseforum but I can't seem to expand any further for information. Will try soyoung with the help of google translate if there are reviews with photos there too.

I'm also really freaked out about the translator scam to the point where I just don't feel like I can trust anyone but at the same time, I'm afraid I will lack the power to push to have my surgery as early as possible while still being able to bargain hard with clinics.

I'm for sure planning to get double eyelids and perhaps epicanthoplasty or lateral too depending on doctor suggestions this Jan '16. Also thinking about doing nose tip and bridge heightening too if I can get a really good deal. The clinics I'm looking at so far that seem to have positive reviews are Cinderella, View, Girin, Dream, Regen, Yonsei First. Not sure what else is rave about enough to consider also.... Would really appreciate any help and especially tips on clinics and bargaining, etc.

Thank you for the quick reply. How about the pt stories in naver? I have messaged members and I haven't heard of them mention any of the clinics being mentioned quite a lot here in PF. In addition, the clinics that they do mention are mostly between 4 clinics.

Thank you for posting this! Have anyone heard about SM Plastic Hospital before? Is it common for the hospital staff to not speak English? The coordinator from the hospital does not seem to be responding to my calls and emails. My appt is a week away and I am worried!
