needachange21 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Okay so I've been lurking around and I'm seeing a lot of posts considering revisions. Is there any lucky people out there who did rhinoplasty and satisfied with it the first time? Why do people consider revisions? Is it because they feel some pain or just because the way it looks? I'm really considering to do it but I'm really scared of doing it again for 2nd or worse, 3rd time. What are the chances that you gonna end up revising it anyway? Can somebody help?
hj88 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I didn't do revision. I had my nose surgery 7 years ago I think it really depends on several things - you being sure of what you want (and not changing your mind later - I.e nose bridge is too high and you want a smaller inplant), you getting the right surgeon and the surgery technique being successful. There is a lot that can go wrong and that's why there are so many revisions.
peachy905 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for posting this. I'm also wondering the same thing.
babysevenohx Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Revisions: most people get it because they want to maintain their results, or their results were not what they wanted. Few are because of medical issues but they do happen. Hope this answers your question!
k-couture Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 i feel many revisions are subjective. People are just not happy with the aesthetics. Many of us strive for perfection or a certain aesthetic which may not actually be attainable with our pre exisiting structure and are unwilling to accept that. So they go for revision after revision after revision. I think its very important to be realistic with your surgeon. Actually ask them how closely your nose can be enhanced according to what you desire. Use photoshop, show the surgeon a few examples on the possibilites. Never be influenced by celebrity photos or even pictures of other people because everyone has a different pre exisiting structure. For example if you want a very sharp and pointed tip but ure nose has naturally thicker skin and bulbous tissue, perhaps your ideal definition in the tip is not attainable and you need to be aware of this before you go under the knife to have realistic expectations. The only time people get revision for objective reasons is when there's something very obviously wrong: Extrusion, Infection, extreme deviation etc. Finding a skilled surgeon will greatly minimize this risk. Tho in cases of infection its not always the surgeon's fault. I have a friend who got infection regardless of what implant she used. Silicone, autologous rib, dermal graft you name it she's done it and all got infected. With different surgeons too. I think she was one of those very rare and unfortunate cases who is extremely extremely extremely prone to infections.
smitten_kitten Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I just had rhinoplasty done June 12 2015 very happy with my results. If it stays this shape or size I would be happy, if it deswells further I would be happy too. It's sitting pretty now and if it droops a little later on it should be ok too... 5 days post op doc said swelling would come down 30 to 40 % When I saw him 12 days post op he said there might be some swelling but not to be surprised if there's not much change either somehow I got lucky? I think if you have thin skin there is higher risk for things like skin color change according to temperature or redness in nose etc.. there was a girl I met in seoul who had rhino done and had to go back just to take the implant out coz it didn't sit well with her. K couture "nose" a lot about nose!! haha since my decision to do rhino was a relatively spur of the moment decision, she gave me some quick pointers about what to ask the surgeon and so he would "nose" what I wanted to do with my nose! The silicone at was sooo much softer than the silicone at cheongdamu softxtil and that was a good start! Honestly I don't feel like my nose isn't my own. It's does not even feel hard though I try not to touch it as often as I can! My bridge feels like my own and I think it is because of the soft silicone! Thanks K couture
needachange21 Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 That's good to hear. How is it looking after 7 years? Are you still satisfied and not planning on doing revision anytime soon?
k-couture Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 no worries boo boo. Im glad ure surgery went so well. U so prettay now
hj88 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 It definitely changes shape over the years, no doubt about that. I was thrilled with mine for about 1 year, but over time it has changed more (a little tighter and less squishy looking). I still like my new nose way better than my old one but not as much as I did at first when there was still swelling in the first year. I won't revise though. Too much risk and I'm still happy with how it looks. It's a vast improvement
peachy905 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 HJ88 - do you mind elaborating on the changes after the first year? For example, did your tip fall/ become more upturned? Also for the bridge did it look sharper or less natural? Thank you. I appreciate your comments very much.
hj88 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Basically it just became less soft and more hard looking. I also have a little dip to one side of my bridge, which is not obvious but you can see it if you look really carefully. I just get filler to even it out because I'm a perfectionist but its not anywhere near big enough to risk another surgery over. I had a hump removed and osteotomy on the sides of my nose, with small goretex strips across the bridge. In the beginning for the first few years my nose looked very soft and squishy and perfect. Over the years my nose has become harder, more refined looking.
peachy905 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Thanks for the information HJ88. I am looking into tiplasty and as it's done with cartilage I was concerned if there's much change after the years.
