Would any of you happen to have had paranasal implants before? Do you know if its implanted below the alar base whether it can change the shape of the nostrils? And this might sound weird but does it limit your ability long term to open your mouth wide to its maximum potential? Im just concerned when it comes to dental work whether it will cause limitations. For example, I don't go to the dentist while my jaw botox is in full swing because it is very tiring for me to keep my mouth open while the botox is at its peak results where my muscles are paralysed.

Also, how long is facial movements limited with the paranasal? Hope you guys can offer me some useful input

Hi k! Not me personally but my good friend has paranasal implants. No change to nostril shape/ability to open mouth wide.

BUT, there was non-ideal placement of the implant and one looks perfect but the other is at an awkward height. It was a revision implant. First time placement wasn't ideal, second time placement -one side was perfect, the other was worse than before. I know that's not what you asked about, but it's a potential effect to consider.

So I went to see Dr mendelson about Paranasal. Had a really insightful consultation with the master of facial anatomy as usual bout the procedure and the methods involved I thought i'd share with you guys. He also gave me an indepth consult about face lifts and lent me one of his medical journals and gave me free shots of kenacort

Anyways so I was seriously considering paranasal implants cos the omega lift is like wearing off already and too temporary. In korea they use Fat Graft or customized implants. The concern with fat graft is that for some people (me) that region doesn't take that well. Especially if you are very expressive and have *****y facial expressions all the time (ME). The issue with silicone is I don't know how well that region can hold an implant while restricting deviation. To top it off, some people say it doesn't feel natural but some say it feels like nothing is in there. Quite conflicting views there.

Anyways Dr Mendelson suggested using hydroxyappatite instead. Which I have used in the past. It feels completely natural like there's nothing in your face at all and it works very well for facial augmentation. Mine was previously used in the mid cheek region, the zygoma arch, chin and jaw line region. Permanent, insignificant rate of infection and because it fuses to the bone it doesn't move. He is also able to perform the procedure in less than an hour without incisions. He uses a syringe through inside the nostril towards the folds, creates a pocket around the facial bone region and administers the hydroxy granules mixed with your blood. The putty then fuses to your bone within the pocket in a week or so, preventing any chance for deviation.

So i've decided to undergo that procedure. It is much pricier tho because Mendelson is world famous and Australia is super expensive for surgery. The break down was like this: Surgical cost around 5500 AUD. Hydroxy material: 2000 AUD. Anesthesialogist fee: 859. Operating Theatre fee: 1800.

GASP! But whatever its my face and the only surgeon i have even more respect for than Park Yang Soo is Mendelson. And I think Mendelson would be willing to discount it to around 8000 Aussie dollars for me since ive been his patient for 10 years.

Also interestingly when I asked him about face lift because my mid face is getting a bit saggy, he agreed with me where no other surgeon did. He said for me a horizontal and not a vertical lift is suitable because of the region in which my muscle and tissue has lost elasticity. He also explained reason why after zygoma reductions the sagging is inevitable is because where the arch is, is a profoundly important muscle attached to it. When the arch is shifted this muscle weakens and so does our facial tissues. He also explained that the names of different lift procedures are all marketing. What's truly important is addressing the region of the sagging and the depth of tissue manipulation and suturing involved. For example, my region would be near the zygomatic arch and he assessed that I had a 5mm mild sag. My treatment option would be through an incision near the hairline, navigating through the nerves and strengthening the smas tissues by no more than 5mm to achieve a natural but tightened look. Price for facelifitng would therefore not be determined by the name of the procedure, but by what the patient requires. You can generally estimate the price by finding out how long the lifting procedure will take. Mine apparently would only take 1.5-2 hours if done by him.

Ahhh so expensive it makes you want to cry haha:o

But if fat graft is not successful for me long term I would definitely consider this an option.

I'm super suspicious of implants now after having slightly unnatural facial movements after chin and cheek. Implant that close to your mouth can't help but change the way you smile and move your mouth

K, a popular Singaporean blogger called Bong Qiu Qiu had paranormal implants (along with other surgeries) done at Korea and she blogged about it. just google her name + parasanal implants or +plastic surgery and i'm sure the posts will show!

though in my opinion it really did nothing to her face except stiffen her smile

I just realized I typed "paranormal" oh god...anyway yeah she looks weird, it was unnecessary for her :/ I can also remember her saying she can feel the implant sometimes

yeah she just had a baby and gained a fair amount of weight. The weight gain really emphasized how unnatural she looks because of where the fat had been distributed throughout her face.

When i saw her before photos i was like.......why on earth would your surgeon agree to do facial contouring for you? Her face was so tiny before and the angles made her look good. She was certainly not a good candidate and it showed in the sagging she sustained. Minus the korean filter u can see what i mean lol
