mhaddock Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Total cost: 4.03m won. (NO difference card vs cash payment)Costs broken down: 1. Genioplasty (chin advancement, bone filler and botox) 3.9m 2. Initial x rays and consultation 0.02m (20,000) 3. Blood/other tests 0.08m (80,000) 4. After-care medicine 0.03m (30,000) surgery time: 1 hour with 1 overnight stay I am currently writing this in the recovery bed of the clinic. I had my surgery yesterday at 2pm. The problem I experienced was receding chin AND protruding mouth, however because I am a caucasian male my nose is very high. For this reason none of the clinics I visited suggested jaw surgery because pushing my mouth backwards would create weird angles on my face, including making my nose seem a lot bigger, which I do not want. Originally the price offered to me by The Face Dental Clinic was 4.85m won, this was not a bad price I thought it was very decent however I knew there were cheaper places elsewhere. My tactic was not to negotiate on the first meeting but on kakao later. So, my Korean friend recommended another clinic called WITH because he had had procedures there and the outcome was good. This clinic is located around 2 minutes away from The Face Dental. The price they quoted me was 3.3m won if I paid in cash. I think my consultation there was a bit strange because they ended up recommending me the exact same procedures as The Face Dental (without me saying anything) yet they didn't do any x-rays etc. For this reason I was a bit put off despite the cheaper price, as it didn't seem as thorough or safe to me (gut feeling). Anyhow I got WITH clinic to write me an invoice for what we had discussed. I took a picture of this invoice and sent it via Kakao to The Face Dental and they offered a lower price of 4m won (around 20% discount). I was happy with this price and booked the surgery for 3 days later. I am not sure if the clinic usually does discounts like this or they just made an exception because Seoul is very quiet now due to the MERS outbreak, so they needed more customers. I will not post pictures now because I look bloated you cannot see the final result, however if you pm me in a month or so I can send before/after shots. Despite this, I can already see an improvement in the balance of my face so I am happy and excited. Not sure if I missed anything out but I will answer any questions below. Tips: 1. Go with Korean friend 2. Don't agree with first price 3. Trust gut instinct/initial impressions!
blasian Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks for the review! The price you paid is very good. Do you have kakao?
k-couture Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 what is bone filler? Is that the same as bone cement?
mhaddock Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 yep its pretty much the same. I think they just added a bit more in my case to smooth out the groove between my mouth and chin, and obviously to bind the chin bone together.
lolipop32swiss Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks for sharing with the group. U look amazing already.
mhaddock Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 here are my x-rays for those who are curious about genioplasty. As you can see my mouth is still protruded. I might try to correct it a bit with some dental work.s10.postimg.org/mtkcbzdo9/image.jpgs3.postimg.org/qf2durodf/image.jpgs30.postimg.org/6cqai6nu9/qqq.jpgs11.postimg.org/3oilnbhzn/qqqq.jpg
missnewface Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Oh wow. So the pins I'm assuming they stay there for a lifetime?
blobvy Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Thank you for sharing your experience. I really consider The Face Dental for v-line surgery, or at least making my chin smaller and less protruding. I will definitely visit them when I'm in Seoul. Good luck on your recovery and I hope it will turn out well
mhaddock Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 hey, yes for a life time! genioplasty is a better option than chin implant
mhaddock Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Thank you! I had a good experience with TFD. They give free coffee after your consultation haha hope things work out for you
missnewface Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I'm just wondering how you communicated with them, I'm having such a hard time with their English... :/
