jeet-dhindsa Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 It's best if you choose a medical interpreter or work with medical facilitator or agency rather than a random freelancer. The former is usually trained and experienced to translate for cosmetic surgery, and they're more connected in the local clinic scene and industry in general. If you pick a legit and licensed facilitator and tell them your budget and schedule, they can take a lot of the headache out of planning and coordinating.

sssxccc Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I just started to a translator name carol (kk:carolfish). Her rates as she quoted me is 40$/hour for the first 2 hours and $30 for each additional. Does anyone know if this is a normal rate?
jeet-dhindsa Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 These are the rates for a licensed Korean medical interpreter through the city government, so if she is a freelancer then that's OK. 2 hours : 60,000 won 4 hours ; 100,000 won 8 hours ; 200,000won

This guy my friend introduced me to said the standard rate is 120 000won per hour for a medical translator! RIPPED OFF! I offered 30 000won at first and he laughed in my face said 120 000won is what people pay! I didn't pay however because I can't afford it

Do people know whether you can hire one (1) translator to go with 2-3 people during their consultation and just get a flat fee? Like let's say I go and I have 1 other girl with me, can we still have that one translator charge their normal hourly rate? Since we're pre the hour, I assume it should be okay?
wrenji Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Its my friend who is doing a uni exchange program in seoul introduced him to me. The translator is a middle eastern guy who translates Arabic and English to Korean. I think maybe the 120 000won price he gave me is what people pay for arabic to korean seeing as arabic to korean is rarer maybe? Still, he should not have tried to charge me that much because I am just looking for English to Korean. I don't even know what arabic sounds like!
