levialo Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hi! Did revision rhino (same place as my primary) and epi a month ago, thought I'd post. Revision rhino: did my primary at Girin, was very happy with it for a few months, then unfortunately (this is quite common, apparently) the tip started drooping and I felt like the transition from my nose to the cartilage graft wasn't smooth enough. Went back and the doctor was very accommodating, explained the cartilage that had been taken from my ear was apparently not strong enough. My worst fear was that I'd go to the clinic and they'd tell me "what are you talking about there is no problem" but instead they were very accommodating and did the revision for free. The English translator there is an A+++++ person. Seriously, I'm writing this entire review mostly because she is INCREDIBLE and has gone out of her way to be nice and I love her. Results: I think it's too early to say, I'll update in a couple months (the road to rhino recovery is long, alas), but my nose looks great so far. Less swelling than my primary and the issues seem to be fixed. Epi: after I did my first round of surgery, I was like "maybe I should do epi." Pretty simple: my eyes are far apart and I have pretty severe epicanthal folds. Went to Teuim just because I've read a lot about them on this forum and I felt fairly confident that the doctor wouldn't mess up my eyes. I think I had pretty nice eyes already (people generally tell me they're my best feature) so I really didn't want that to happen. Dr. Kwon has a really abrupt manner... I was definitely kind of unsettled when I went there and he basically looked at my eyes for 30 seconds, told me that yes I was a candidate for epi. Very impersonal. Process: More unpleasant than I expected. I've done facial contouring so I'm not a wimp, but it wasn't easy. Chose local anesthesia. It made me all loopy and there was tugging and cutting and it didn't hurt but it was uncomfortable. Results: stitch removal, contrary to what I was told, was easy and painless. And despite his incredibly casual manner (I kid you not, when I went back to take the stitches out, he looked at me and the only thing he said was "you're very swollen" before peacing out) Dr. Kwon is a wizard with a knife. My eyes look beautiful. I'm very happy. Final thoughts: 1) if you're considering going to Korea, you really don't need a translator. I speak no Korean, I can barely manage "annyeong hashimnikka," and I was fine. All the subways are labeled in English and enough people here speak it that you'll always be able to find someone to ask for directions. 2) Plastic surgery isn't a one-time thing. Even with the best surgeons, things can go wrong. If you're considering your first surgery, please make sure you're fixing something that really needs to be fixed, and be prepared that you might need to redo it. Even if you're happy, you might not be 100% happy, but rather 70% or 80% happy with the results. For me, I wasn't perfectly happy after my first rhinoplasty, but my nose post-op was still better than my nose pre-op. BE CAREFUL with your choice of clinic. Choose a place where lots of locals go. Do not be pushed into procedures that you aren't certain you want. 3) Do it for yourself. Surgery has made me prettier, but I looked fine before. No one in my life really notices, or cares, but *I'm* more confident. But it is a serious thing, and scary. I will say this: I will never do PS again unless something goes horribly wrong. Gonna try to avoid IVs/sedation/anesthesia for the rest of my life. 4) Less is more. I've spent a lot of time reading reviews and deliberating over this, and I think where a lot of people go wrong is that they don't know when to stop. If you do too many surgeries, you will look weird at some point. Just fix what you have to and live with the rest. It's a lot easier to do something than it is to undo it, especially when it comes to facial contouring. Think about it, you are compromising the structural integrity of your face. If you have prominent cheekbones, and straight-up remove them, it seems inevitable there will be problems down the road. 4) After my last thread people PM'd me for before/afters, but I'm not comfortable sharing those. The main reason I'm writing this is because before I went to Girin I'd read a lot of positive reviews, but also saw this one particular review (I think it was on realself) where this girl said they ruined her face and didn't take responsibility. That was really scary. I don't know what exactly happened in that situation, but I feel obligated to write about my positive experience because they've went above and beyond, fixed all the things I wasn't happy with. They've never recommended anything I didn't want to do. I'm not sponsored and I don't speak Korean so they weren't obligated to take good care of me but they did. And that means something. So, yep. Hopefully this was helpful.
gantz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Hey Levialo, thanks for coming back to update us, wishing you a speedy recovery Would you mind updating us with your facial contouring results? Do you notice any sagging or any other side effects? Also, do you find that your face has become more diamond shaped than before? Was your primary problem your chin or your jaw angle? Thanks a lot
levialo Posted February 7, 2016 Author Posted February 7, 2016 Hey! Happy with facial contouring. Face is definitely more diamond shaped now. I don't look like most Korean girls who've done facial contouring, my face is still... angular? instead of round I guess is the word to describe it, but I like that. No sagging, no loss of sensation. I was primarily unhappy with how heavy-looking my jaw was before but having my chin cut actually made a huge difference - I never realized how important chins were before lol.
gantz Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 So you mean you had the t-osteotomy method instead of the long curve? Because you said you had your chin cut.. I still can't decide which method of the two I would prefer concerning aesthetic factors(leaving aside the healing time)
microchip Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Hi, is your secondary rhino open or closed rhinoplasty? Does the clinic do barbie nose?
levialo Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 Sorry, I meant chin shaved. I never considered t-osteotomy - too invasive in my opinion
gantz Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Is the shaving method enough to reduce the chin? I know it does not reduce the length of it, but is the reduction ''suffiecient'' ?
ryalin1 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Levialo glad to hear you had a great experience! For the epi, are scars really unnoticeable/not there at all?
levialo Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 There is very little scarring on my right eye and slightly more on my left. You can see it if you're looking for it when I'm not wearing makeup but I think in a couple months it should be unnoticeable. Epi is definitely worth it though - it's made my eyes a lot prettier.
itshelloeltiy Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I want to get jaw shaving as well! I'm happy with the shape of my jaw from the front but it looks too heavy on the side. I want to get the length of it (not my chin) reduced by 7mm. How much was yours reduced by? Also, how did you not get sagging? Were you lucky enough to just not get it, or did you do stuff like acculift? Also did the Dr warn you about the chances of sagging?
sodium Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Don't go to Teuim. I have no idea why it's raved about on this forum, barely any locals have been there or heard of it. People only go to Teuim because a few people on this forum heard of them, happened to go there and their information spread like wildfire here since most people who read this forum just visit clinics that are mentioned here.
z125 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 @levialo I'm so glad I found your post. I am sharing the exact same thoughts. I thought no one else elected to revisit for a touchup but actually a lot of people have been having the same issue. The tip drops a whole lot after rhino and mine has been continuing to drop. I liked it a lot previously and it's still a massive improvement from before but I'm fearing that mine will drop to the point where I'll have to revisit for a touch up. I'm really glad revision has fixed your issues!
geena123 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hi! I have never heard of the tip drooping, is this normal with cartilage even with an implant ?
jasminlover Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 same feel this way totally what is even tieum, the local told me they never heard of it
