I watch the consultant like a hawk to make sure they count correctly hahaha.

I've never had experience with travelers cheques. I always take out KRW at a Global ATM or just bring cash and convert there.

If you are carrying more than $10,000. What do you exactly have to do? I will be leaving from US Airport and arrive in Incheon Airport. I'm worried that it will be confiscated or something but I also want to pay in cash. Can anyone chime in?

I was in Korea March 2016 and plan to go back in June/ July 2016. PM me for more info.

- How did you get around?
Subway and taxi is very easy. I took the airport bus to my hotel and the rest was maps and apps on my phone to get around seoul.

- How did you find translators?
I did not need a translator since my clinic spoke english. Most popular clinic will have english speakers so don't waste money unless you really want a clinic that doesn't provide a translator.

- How did you deal with the healing process?
3 days after surgery I stayed in my hotel room. I only went out when I was hungry. After that, I went out as usual with a mask on.

- What was it like emotionally and mentally?
I had surgery done before so I knew what to expect. If this was your first time, you might be a bit emotional since you will not look so good in front of the mirror.

- Did you run into any trouble while you were there alone?
No problems. Even though I couldn't communicate in Korea, a lot of old guys volunteer to help when they saw that I was looking for directions.

- Did you have someone to turn to in case of an emergency?
I took my sister along since I wasn't brave enough going my first time. Korea is very safe. My second trip I am planning to go alone.

- What do you guys think about Seoul TouchUp? Are there any good alternatives to Seoul TouchUp?
I never thought about hiring any translator since I didn't need one.

- How did you pay?
Depends on your clinic. Most will accept CreditCards and usd/won. I prefer to bring cash and exchange at a good rate then pay the clinic. Credit cards will not give a good rate. Also, some clinic was add an additional 10% tax for credit card users.

You can hide the rest in small amounts somewhere else.:cool::cool:

Other option would be to withdraw cash in Korea or use your credit card to pay.

Did you find many global ATMs in Seoul, especially in the Gangnam area?

WIFI Questions
1-Can anyone recommend a good portable wifi or hot spot (egg)? I'm lost without Internet service especially when I'm looking for places on a map!

2-How did you find all the clinics and get around? Please recommend good maps apps, etc..

Thank you in advance!!

I use this wifi rental that can be pick up at Incheon Airport. Works pretty good. It cost about $5 a day.

Most clinics would be in Gangnam area or south of the River. For subway app on iPhone, I like using Subway Korea.

Make sure to do your research and plan ahead where each clinic is located. That way you won't waste time traveling from one to another. If you think you might get lost, once in Gangnam, just take taxi and have the driver put the location on their gps. Taxi is very cheap.

There are. But there's a max amount you can withdraw per withdrawal. I believe it's 100,000won which really might not make sense if your bank imposes a fee for every withdrawal done overseas.

I'm going to be using the pocketkoreawifi. I heard it's pretty decent from other people who have visited Korea so that's an option you can look into. I think the cheaper one is unfortunately bad for areas like Myeongdong/Gangnam (which they even state on the website) so you'll probably have to get the better one if you want wifi in the popular PS areas lol

Use Google maps! All the plastic surgery clinics are on there if you search them, and google tells you exactly the stations to get on/off.

I'm having difficulty finding all of my clinics with accurate dieprections on google map
Were you able to find all of the clinics along with subway and walking directions?

You might have better luck finding it on your computer first, then save it from there, and then it'll be automatically saved on your google maps app (make sure that you're using the same google account for the computer/app)! For some reason this worked better for me  last resort if that doesn't work is searching the Korean name of the clinics.

Google maps always gives you the subway/walking information. And you can always follow it visually cuz it routes you and shows you which direction to walk

Google maps isn't commonly used in Korea. Naver maps should work.

Naver maps is in Korean
Google Maps doesn't show full directions
I d rather not take taxis all the time
Does anyone know any map apps that work?
I'm using an iPhone and MacBook .

Also does anyone know if there is a big price difference between changing money USD$ in Coex versus other places like myungdong?

Thanks in advance !!

Hi there  I am considering going to Korea in approximately 20 days, for a rhinoplasty and a genioplasty revision. Due to work I have only started doing online research in the past few days and started contacting clinics to make consultation appointments.
I feel that the timeframe is quite tight, and I am worried about whether I will be able to have everything planned for my arrival etc.
What do you guys think? How long before your arrival did you schedule your appointments? (esp. considering that summer is peak season for PS)
