gemdrop Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I think it's essentially because those clinics are either inflating prices in the first place because you're a foreigner or doing it because of docfinder and they get paid by the clinic for bringing them a customer
valenrina Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 They are medical travel agency. They should have some form of collaboration and arrangement with the clinics, maybe a finders', partnership fee or something? I'm not really sure on this but just happy that I don't get charged.

valenrina Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I actually don't because the quotation I got from Banobagi directly and through DocfinderKorea is the same. I was skeptical like you, so I email Banobagi before I go to DFK. Don't simply assume because you don't know what's their business model.

gemdrop Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 um actually there are clinics that don't ~ I have already checked which increased the price and which didn't I had my boyfriend call who is Korean vs me calling it just happens to be that there are certain clinics whom Arent even popular amongst locals directly targeting and using Docfinder to find foreign customers

So I guess the general consensus is that DocFinder is jacking up prices and also recommending the same clinics over and over... Ok so now that I know that I'd like to do my own research but all of this seems really complicated. How am I supposed to know which clinics to go to? People keep saying they did all this research before going but I'm not exactly sure where. Is it just limited to this forum? I work two jobs and am tired all the time... I don't really have the time to research clinics as much as I'd love to. Is it better to get everything done at one clinic or is it better to visit different clinics for different procedures? I just am afraid of getting a botched surgery or looking really unnatural. The thing is I don't really know how specific I want my procedures to be done. It seems like a lot of people here who get procedures done know exactly what they want done and to what degree they want it done. I don't. I just have a general feeling that I want my nose done, maybe eyes, and something done to correct the asymmetrical features of my face, but not really sure what. I don't want to get any type of face slimming or zygomatic reduction done as I believe my face to be small already, plus I like the angled, chiseled look vs the smooth, almost feminine/cute boyish qualities that some surgeries seem to give.
lovecert Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 One tip is that if you want to do your nose and chin/jaw separately, you need at least 2 weeks in between. I proposed to the separate clinics the idea of scheduling the operation one day or two days after the other operation, and they flatly rejected me. If you have enough time then that's alright. Or you might want to plan separate trips if you are really determined to do procedures that are specialised for certain clinics.

Also, being a guy and having almost the same areas of concern as the op I thought it would be more relevant. (Well, actually I need a new face... )
jaspsev Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Note that all info I provide is based on my personal observation (take it with a tub of salt) since I have been lurking in these forums since 2014. Docfinder, SeoulTouchUp, etc are all commission based or referral based (no one knows for sure). From what I read is that you can negotiate for a better deal if you go directly to Korea, show up on their doorstep and get a proper written consultation. Which clinic to go is probably not as simple as someone giving names of clinics (also I don't trust B&A photos... as I use Photoshop myself ). What i did is that I shortlisted half a dozen clinics to go to on August and worse case scenario is that I might not even go ahead with any surgery (probably getting a LASEK so I don't feel that I wasted a trip). Best case scenario, I would get a few procedures done. It depends on how I feel that doc (already checked that they are certified and all, just need to hear from the doc how they will approach the surgery). In terms of doing all in one clinic or separate, again it depends on the doctors. I rather take an extra trip than get a revision (which is more expensive and in some cases, more troublesome). Although personally I prefer to get my chin and nose done at the same time but I will not hesitate to delay the nose for another 6 months if I don't feel comfortable with the doc or setup. I know the feeling of being afraid of getting a botched surgery, when I did my hair transplant in India I was a bundle of nerves for over 6 months. I was worried about the large potential scar (as the doc took off a 1 inch by 5 inch graft from the back of my head) and I was also worried if the hair will grow/look right (looking like a plugged doll will be bad, losing donor grafts will be disastrous). Now after a year it seems that I picked the right doctor (almost invisible scar and hair looks natural). So yes, being afraid is normal and is something good, it makes us more careful/conservative in our approach. My final advise is that if you are not sure you want to get it done... then don't do it (yet). Maybe if you fix what you are 100% sure you need to fix then the rest would be negligible. Or send me a pic and i'll give you my amateur opinion. (dear lord, this is my longest post in 2 years).
