em5678 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Hi rhinoceros, may I know why April31? They were on top of my list but I am still not sure, I read that it is really pricey
gunslinger81 Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 I'm so sorry I missed this -not sure what happened. April 31 is a great clinic. I didn't go with them for two reasons: cost and rhinoplasty method. Obviously I am not an expert in all things rhino and I'm sure Dr.Kim knows what he's doing, but he didn't recommend a lateral osteotomy (which I really wanted) and he wanted to "spread" my tip cartilage as opposed to Dr.Suh wanting to effectively "pull it down" The spreading method concerned me as my tip was already quite bulbous and I also didn't want to lose any definition. In the end, there's only so much research you can do and I believe in going with your gut -which I did Hopefully everything will turn out well.
rhinoceros Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 @em5678 hey I liked the doctor's vibe and surgical method. Yeah, you're not wrong, it IS very pricey. But at that time, it was the best option for me among the rest.
rhinoceros Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 @Gunslinger81 hey that's fine! oh that's why. In my case, I preferred dr Kim's method over Dr. Suh You're right, even with research, I ultimately went with my instincts. But it didn't steer me wrong. However, the swelling is making me impatient how's yours?
gunslinger81 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Bit of an update, 11-12 weeks in. Nose is deswelling okay. Still can't really see a narrower, more defined bridge, but patience is the key here. It can take much longer for all of the swelling to go down. But the hump is gone and the tip looks nicer, so I'm pretty happy. Eye healed a while back and is still all good. Has actually made a great difference, one sleepy eye was very odd looking when I look back at old photos. Chin implant has had no problems whatsoever and has made a huge difference to my profile -highly recommend. And now the bad news. $6600USD worth of Acculift procedures and thread lifting to remove my double chin and tighten loose skin around my jawline has done nothing. I took some comparison photos the other day and there is literally no change. There is a tiny bit of swelling still in my double chin, but I seriously doubt that when it clears up there will be much, if any difference. I have read many surgeons and patients discredit thread lifting and I can only speak of my experience that I can't see a difference at all. Perhaps if you are a little older and have noticeable skin hanging from your jawline it would fix it, but for me just looking for more definition it has not done the job. And I imagine it is the same for Acculift. Obvious fat deposits can be removed, but mine is very minimal and some surgeons argued not even fat, but loose skin. One surgeon even felt that it was related to a muscle problem. At the end of the day, I tried to make the best decision I could, based on research and gut instinct about the surgeons that I consulted with. April 31 felt that I needed muscle work for the double chin and one of their facelifts for the jaw (their lift specialist is quite amazing and has a range of options that I didn't see anywhere else), so I will revisit them. I am still in discussion with JW and they have seen my recent photos and offered a free revision which I do appreciate. However the revision they are offering is more Acculift! This doesn't make sense to me at all, as all of the fat should have been removed in the first place. I'll keep you guys updated as things progress, but after travelling to Korea twice and spending over $20K AUD on surgery it won't happen fast!
missj93 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Thanks for the update gunslinger! May I ask, what material was used for the chin implant? How secure does it feel? I got a sliding genioplasty at JW in May and though I'm happy with the improvement, my chin is still not as sharp as I would've liked and is more rounded. Also, my chin pad muscle is quite overdeveloped as I have lip incompetence from my receded chin and now that my chin is brought forward, it chin muscle bulge looks more noticeable than before. Just wondering if you noticed anything like this? I'm thinking about getting a chin implant to further improve my side profile but am also hesitant because I've heard of some negative results from implants.
dlee516 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Hi! I would like to know how are the after care process like at JW? do they provide good service?
missj93 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Aftercare wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. I wouldn't consider it to be a dealbreaker. One of my friends who got rhino alone told me after the surgery, the consultant didn't even walk her downstairs. When she asked for help getting a taxi (friend is not korean) Jenny just smiled and said "don't worry, there are lots of taxis downstairs!" The nurses were a little rough removing my stitches. I got the laser deswelling treatment & my hair washed every 2 days. My eyes, chin and nose doctors all checked up on my briefly each time I visited. Nothing really worth noting. Did you have any questions in particular?
dlee516 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I'm planning to fly in to Korean on September 19th.. And was thinking if I should pay a deposit now to secure a surgery date.. I'm worried if I pay a deposit now, it will be harder to bargain more when I'm physically there because they know I already want to use JW. Also, I was actually thinking of using docfinder as I will be traveling alone.. But it seems like my instinct is telling me to not use them.. But now that you say Jenny didn't even help your friend down the stairs.. I'm quite worried as I'll be doing my eyes and nose.. And I'll be alone.. =\
missj93 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I paid my deposit as I was getting nose, eyes and chin done all at once and it was near impossible for all 3 doctors to be free on the same day. I paid 500,000 won per surgery so a large chunk of it. However, I met 2 people there who both were able to book rhinos with Dr. Suh successfully after their consultation, either the next day or a few days later. Obviously you have to be a little flexible in that aspect but I definitely think it's doable if you're only getting one procedure done. I actually used Docfinder myself and I would not really recommend them... if you PM me I can tell you more about it. But I'd rather not post publicly about them cus I honestly I don't know what they'll do if they see my review, especially since they have lots of my private information. I know it's a little scary to go by yourself. I was alone too and I thought I'd be scared, so I reached out to docfinder against my better judgement but once I was in Korea, I thought 'I definitely could've done this by myself'. It seems intimidating but you will be taken care of by the clinic (JW has translators), and it's a little awkward getting around on taxis at first but you learn and Korea is very safe.
ctruong Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I paid deposit with JW through Emily. A week ago to secured my consultation and operation for 9/20/2016, Maybe I will you there @dlee516.
daisybuttercup Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Anyone knows if JW is good for breast revision?
fairybox Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 i saw JW's videos on youtube, they seem really nice!
