lipophil Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 my experience of breast implant surgery in Korea wasn't for cosmetic reasons but for breast cancer. Due to my age the oncologist advised to do skin sparing mastectomy ( if I were older she said she wouldn't have hesitated to remove the skin as well ). Freaking out a lot at the initial phase ( like most Western raised foreigners or ghyopos ( Korean Western raised ) like myself would, I ended up doing a lot of research inadvertently ) after the entire process and experience this is what I can say about Koreas plastic surgery: 1) do not go with the most advertised places 2) try to make some local friends 3) do comparison research : I.e. Is it really beneficial to come all the way to Korea to do a procedure that if you did more research could possibly be done better in another country say Thailand ? 4) in my case, the pros of being in Korea were due to my dual citizenship bein covered by the national health insurance paying 5%of the medical bills and at least being provided with the latest medicines followin closely American regimens however the downsides were of course reduced costs but less explanations and options that were different to the US: for example instead of inserting an expanded after skin sparing mastectomy as they would have done in the US it was just immediate breast implant after the surgery. Message me for any questions, the years of visiting the hospital almost every day has made me go into almost zen like mode about life and living in general and I volunteer help many expats and foreigners
