wishingstar Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 For those of you who had external alarplasty (where the surgeon cuts from the outside of the nostrils):1. How bad are your scars? 2. Who was your surgeon?3. Do you see holes where the stitches are still, and are the 2 lines under your nostrils still visible? (Background: I had alarplasty via the method inside the nostrils previously with no visible scars, but my alars and nose are still too wide for my liking. Doctors - including Dr. Park at Dream, who did my prior surgeries - this time suggested the external excision method where the outside of the nose is cut, but I am terrified of the scars since I scar easily. I have seen some bad ones where the holes from stitches are super visible and bumpy on the outside, with very obvious dented lines under the nostril flaps themselves. I'm debating whether or not to take the risk ...any advice on how your scars turned out, who your surgeon was, and whether you have any regrets would be extremely appreciated. Thanks!)
baxa17 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I have both, external first then went in again later to reduce my nose further by cutting a small wedge inside. Both healed well. I don't have any visible scars. My left side practically has no scar, the right side has a little line but it's hidden where your nose folds so only I can tell if I look closely. Of course, everyone's skin is different and it also depends on your dr. knife skills. My dr gave me a scar gel to help heal the scars but I didn't really use it religiously. To be fair, my skin doesn't scar. I did mine in the US in 2014. No one ever asked if I had anything done.
wishingstar Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Hi baxa17, thanks so much for sharing - I really appreciate it! Would you be willing to PM me the name and state of your surgeon by any chance? I've been considering doing it in the US, too, but have been nervous due to not knowing any docs that anyone has gone to there. Thanks in advance if you're willing to share.
laceylover Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Do you know where to go find a good Alar plasty surgoen? so far from my months of research, JK or April 31st are good for nose jobs.... I've scheduled meetings with both clinics... just woundering if anyone else would have a clue....
deeepesd Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Laprin has a technique called no-scar alar relocation. Check it out.
helloyou0116 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 To me it sounds like a different name for Internal Alar Reduction or Sill Excision. The doctor will excise skin from the floor of the nostrils. As you noticed on Laprin website, this technique can only reduce 1 to 2mm from the inside of your nose. There is limited space inside of your nose that’s why this technique is very limited. That mean it’s not going to reduce nostrils by much, if you have wide nostrils this is a great additional technique on top of the external cut from the outside. This technique alone won’t solve your problem. This technique is only for people who needs just a little bit of excision to reduce the flare of their nostrils. And yes, there won’t be no visible scar since it will be cut from the inside. And, there must be another confusion to general anesthesia part. Why would anyone use general anesthesia for a 20 to 30 minutes procedure? Lol I think they meant IV Sedation or Local Anesthesia. General Anesthesia is use for major surgery such as facial contouring. I can’t see them using it only just for this. Overall, Laprin no scar nose alar relocation is just another name for Internal Alar Reduction or Sill Excision. It’s just the same technique practice at most clinics. I hope this help!http://laprin.imhostings.co.kr/sub/eye_nose_surgery/eye_nose_surgery_06.html
helloyou0116 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Here is what it stated on Laprin’s website: “Laprin, with its original surgical method, does not make excision to the outside. It makes a micro-excision 1,2 mm inside nose hole, through which periosteum and ligament connected to wide nose alar is exfoliated and relocated. Therefore, it is different from nose alar reduction that simply makes excisions and shows a definite reduction without a scar as it is more of relocating nose alar toward inside.” Laprin no-scar nose alar relocation Excistion site: 1~2mm micro excision to the interior of nose which cannot be seen from outside Anesthesia: General anesthesia Surgery Duration: 20~30 min Scar: none
