twocupcakes Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 So, probably not the most sought after cosmetic procedure by Asian patients, but I've been doing a bit of research on it lately and I thought I'd share my findings. For those who don't know, Brazilian butt lifts are where they liposuction fat out from other areas of your body and inject the harvested fat back into your butt. (Ivo Pitanguy, the Brazilian surgeon who helped pioneer the procedure passed away just a few weeks ago, rest his soul.) I originally thought that Thai surgeons would be more experienced with the procedure. After all, Thailand has a well-developed medical tourism industry catering to Western tourists, and Thai plastic surgeons have long been leaders in, well, let's just say... feminising procedures... But while quite a few medical tourism operators advertised Brazilian butt lifts in Thailand on their websites, they mostly used before and after pictures taken from other sources, and I couldn't find much on the actual hospitals' or plastic surgeons' websites. I did find a couple, but overall, it seems that the preferred method for buttock augmentation in Thailand is with implants. The clinics that did offer it weren't super cheap or anything either. Six-to-eight-thousand-US-ish? (I live in Australia, so Thailand is relatively close and airfares aren't too expensive. But for someone living on the US east coast, it's probably cheaper to go elsewhere). I stumbled across a post by that famous Spanish BBL surgeon that said he had trained five Taiwanese surgeons in the procedure, but he didn't provide their names unfortunately. I can't read Chinese either, so my searches in regards to that kind of hit a dead end. I did find a Mainland Chinese surgeon offering it, but, again, language barrier. So If anyone can dig up more information on that, that'd be great. And Korea. I deliberately thought to avoid Korea initially because I know Brazilian butt lifts aren't common in Korea and the surgeons aren't as experienced. (Plus, if I did it in Korea, I'd have to meet up friends and family, and go for dinners and explain to them why I can't sit down.) But for people who are able to spend three weeks in Korea lying on their tummies, I'll share what I found. Basically, any cosmetic butt-related surgery in Korea is referred to as "hip up" surgery. About 10-15 years ago, thread-based buttock lifts were introduced into Korea as "hip up" surgery, so I guess that's where it caught on. Like in Thailand, buttock implants seem to be the more common procedure in Korea. A few Korean clinics claim to specialise in BBL, but they're all very new, opened within the past year or two. And their prices are ridiculously low, starting from around two million won (you'd pay more for just the liposuction at some places), which makes me think they're not terribly experienced and are heavily discounting the procedure to bring in new clients. Some of the bigger plastic surgery "hospitals" offer the surgery too. But again, only within the past year or two. Even Pitangui, named after Dr. Pitanguy, has more information on butt implants on their website than fat transfers. I guess the main takeaway from all this is that, well, there aren't a lot of Brazilian butt lift options in Asia. You could do it Thailand, but it wouldn't really save you any money. Or you could do it in Korea and save a lot of money, but have it done by a not-very-experienced plastic surgeon. So if anyone has had it done, is thinking about getting it done, or can find anything about those Taiwanese surgeons, please let us know!
gobeautysave Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Wonjin and Grand have both done plenty of this procedure. "Hip ups" are becoming more common here.
oreocream Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 As a general rule of thumb, Korea is good for anything above the neck, and Thailand is good for anything below the belt.
oreocream Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Oh by the way, the consultant from View just kakao me literally a minute ago saying they do buttock augmentation. I didn't even know they do that because it's not on their website. In fact I wasn't even aware they have an aesthetics department until I stepped into the clinic and found their aesthetics catalog sitting right there. It's 8.5M KRW so it's something I can think about for my next trip there.
k-couture Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Can I just say, if anyone has gone to Pitangui for Buttlift pls share their experience. Pitangui is brazilian trained so im curious about their butt lift results. Or if anyone wanna guinea pig is pls document your experience haha... Anywaysss, what ive noticed is (and ive consulted many surgeons about butt lift cos i gots no booty -_-) that korean surgeons will say the brazillian butt lift doesnt work properly and doesnt last long and tend to advocate for implants. However ive seen argentine and brazilian surgeons results on my friends using the brazilian method and their booties have stayed! Its amazeballs!!! One korean surgeon told me its an anatomy difference between latinos blacks and caucasians vs asians . Anyone know this to be true?
