d00little Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hi, I'm about 1.5 weeks post-op. Currently very my tip is very stiff, I am assuming from the septal graft that was used to construct the tip. Does this stiffness go away or subside over time, or does it remain permanently?
missj93 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hey doolitte, I'm 5+ months post-op from my primary (open method) and my tip is much softer. But I don't think it will ever be as soft as it was before because my nose before was shapeless and lacked structure, and now it's held up by cartilage so it'll definitely be stiffer. But fear not, your initial stiffness will definitely soften.
lovecert Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 *touches nose* yeah it definitely feels stiff as compared to the alar regions
kelly-here Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Hello, did any of you get a silicone implant? Here in the US, I have heard cartilage being used for rhinoplasty. I am Vietnamese looking to refine the nose and reduce alar flaring. I am considering going with face line or bk hospital. Additionally, I want to even my eyelids. I am not sure if there is a clinic that is good with performing both procedures. Thank you so much for your help
loverly Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 if you used the septal cartilage in the tip of your nose, it wont become as soft as before. It will become softer, but it will still be pretty hard. Especially if the tip was repositioned with the cartilage. Since the septal cartilage is soo strong, thats why it is most commonly used in the tip, for its durability and strength to lift and position the tip
p-joann14 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 i have heard the same. One of my friends had surgery with septal cartilage and i felt her nose tip even after she was a few years post-op
reann1788 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I had my surgery a year and a half ago and from what I understand, the tip will stay more firm than before, and for some people this is done on purpose to reduce nose movement/limit how the nose may round and droop when you smile etc. The surgeon I went to fused the cartilage on my tip so it would stay more pointed and not cause nasolabial crease when I smiled, especially on side profilw view. He also mentioned that is one way to tell if someone has had rhino, even if it looks natural, their tip will likely stay very firm. Currently mine is much softer than a year ago but not soft enough it moves when I smile.
hind-kiwan Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Im now 3 weeks post rhinoplasty my tip is very bery stiff feels like wood and barely moves this is very irritating for me when will it come back please i need reassurance to the extent that i regret the operation though im in love with the shape up till now although im still swollen... P.S:My surgeon used a very small thin cartilage
granges Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 5 months post op after revision rhinoplasty. Nose tip hard with rib I remember 8 months after my primary, nose was very hard with septal
xiledsoviet Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 18 months post op; my tip is a lot softer than before but I feel it isn't as raised as it was before, feel it's starting to droop down
sheonlylooks25 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Does that mean the cartilage is being absorbed or disintegrating? And what can you do about it later on?
xiledsoviet Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I certainly hope not. It's not noticeable but i definitely think it's lower than before but if it's really bad I'll probably have to go back for a consultation
phoai Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 My nose got softer 9m post op! You should wait a bit more to see a final result
mocamimi Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 You will have swelling and uncomfortable sensation around this time after surgery. You will have to wait around 6 months to see the final result.
granges Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 One thing that improved the softness of my nose was tranilast/rizaben . Sometimes the hardness can be swelling or scarring. The surgeon who performed my revision stated that I had a lot of scarring due to my primary rhinoplasty in korea . After my primary in korea, my nose was super hard and stiff. I am now 5 months post op from my revision in china . My nose was hard but was softer than before , due to the expansion of my skin alone... . I've been taking tranilast for a few weeks, orally and have noticed a major improvement in the softness of my nose. It really works .But beware , rizaben is not approved by the FDA and is contraindicated for certain people.so you should definetly ask your doctor if it is safe to consume
