larojibalnca
Hey everyone, would appreciate some input on this! I've been messaging several clinics on Kakao regarding revision DES. Planning to have it next Monday so I guess the consultants can sense it's quite urgent. One of the clinics I'm talking to is quite well known and has all positive reviews here on Purseblog. When I expressed interest in scheduling a consultation, the consultant immediately tried pushing me to book the surgery date by sending them a deposit, for which she promised a 10% discount. She also asked me if they could use my B&A photos (full face, not just eyes only) for marketing in exchange for a 10-30% discount - which I thought was weird since their website already has 6 pages of B&A's for eye surgeries alone. And their website is one of those extremely messy ones, graphic-intensive ones with more than enough photos. I enquired further about the B&A discount, and she tried pushing me to send a deposit in order to "secure the discount." Funny thing is, none of the other 5 or so clinics I've messaged have been pushy about surgery deposits. And none have offered discounts for using B&A photos. I know that surgery deposits aren't a rarity, but at just how pushy this consultant was...is that a red flag? My fear is that they recently got a bad rep on Korean forums (unbeknownst to the English speaking community here) and are trying to salvage their revenues by throwing discounts. Any advice would be appreciated!
mellisa
Hello~~ Can I know which clinic it is? If you don't want to post the clinic's name here, could you please PM me? Thank you!!
missfitt
My advice is follow what you gut tells you. Pushy means desperate which is not a good thing. What did they get a bad rep for? Depending on reason maybe you should avoid
beauty12
JW was also very pushy telling me I had to leave a deposit in order to secure a surgery slot. In the end they cancelled my consultation twice because I didnt want to leave a deposit. I would steer clear from this type of clinic. Could you PM the name of the clinic? thank you ! I wish you the best in finding the right clinic and more importantly the doctor!
twocupcakes
Which clinic was it? Some consultants work on quotas, so they might be trying to squeeze you in before the end of the month. It kind of sounds like a place you might want to avoid, though...
ijustloveyou
Hey, I'm getting DES as well next month! Do you mind sharing which clinic you are referring to! You can PM me and I can share my research on clinics for DES as well
kaliyah
The clinics I've been contacting are like that too. They're all legitimate and well known clinics but it still feels very pushy. But maybe that's normal for Korean clinics? It's probably just a way to make sure they aren't wasting their time and you're serious. I'm strongly considering going with TLPS and they're asking me for a deposit of $300 which honestly isn't much. But there's always that fear in the back of your mind that they might just run off with your money.
missfitt
How much deposit is unacceptable. The clinics I contacted who say they are booked up in Dec ask for deposit some even 50%? Is it the amount or percentage that matters because even 10 percent if you are doing many surgeries is a big amount of money
kaliyah
Wow 50% is crazy! I def wouldn't feel comfortable to make such big deposit. They quotes me 6000$ if I paid cash, for chin reduction and cheek implants.
missfitt
Same for me! I asked if they can take less the said no because Dec they are nearly fully booked but then they said it is refundable? Why take so much for a refundable deposit when can just take back? What kind of guarantee is that is why I am not feeling good about it being really refundable because there no contract to sign for refundable deposit
carlabell
i think its normal for korean hospital to do this since there are so many and korea is ususally a very competitive country. So its probably just a way to get there first before another chospital does. Ive emailed a number of hospitals it pretty much the same, i guess you gotta just follow your instincts and choose the hospital you want to go to and not let them pressure you. larojibalnca
Since people have been asking, it's DAPRS.
ijustloveyou
I see. I messaged them as well and they were being super pushy about leaving a deposit as well. The amount wasn't small either - 1,000,000krw when I was only doing DES... Most other clinics only asked for $500USD or 10% of the estimated overall surgery cost. lindajj605
Yeah, I don't think its a big deal, just say no hahaha. I think most hospitals ask for the deposit since thre are so many foreigners coming in to Korea everyday IMO
cleftmale
Being part of an established medical practise. In my opinion - leaving a deposit for surgery is reasonable. However given the choice & options available in Korea, I think this is rather unwise.
