South Korea vs Thailand

Recommended Posts

I see the majority of posts here are about surgery in Korea, but what about Thailand? They are famous for their feminization surgeries so you would think that for breast implants and v-line they would be the best. And also isn't Thailand cheaper?
I've tried googling for more information about Thai surgery but I can never seem to find that much. Do any of you have some insight about it?

IMO, what important is the reviews from those who have done surgery with that particular surgeon. Be it Thailand or Korea, if review is bad even free of charge is pointless. Especially those with pictures will be best, so that there is proof supporting it. Secondly is the comfort level with the doctor, doctor not only have to be experience and skillful they also have to make sure patient is well taken care of after the surgery. If there is a nurse to check on patient everyday will be good!

Haha. I'm Korean, and I get the impression that Korean surgeons are way overrated on this forum. All the flashy advertising and kpop celebrities. Not to say that Korean surgeons aren't skilled; just that being Korean doesn't automatically make you a better surgeon.

But the Thai medical tourism industry seems heavily marketed more towards Westerners. The forty-something-year-old who goes to Thailand, gets a face lift, liposuction and a new pair of boobs, comes back looking ten years younger, and explains it away by saying: "Oh, I just got a tan and some relaxation."
Korea, on the other hand, targets younger Asian people. The adage of "you'll still look like you—just a better version of you" doesn't apply here. It's more aspirational. "Imagine how much better your life would be if you looked like this!"

As for price, it really depends. I haven't asked around everywhere, but the "local" prices in Korea look to be cheaper than, or about the same as, the "tourist" prices in Thailand. Especially since Korea has a custom of throwing in free things for no real reason (not that I'm complaining). On the other hand, Thai plastic surgeons are more upfront about their fees, so you're less likely to get gouged on that end.
