jarhead64 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Why don't you check out an ENT based plastic surgery hospital?
cleftmale Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 I will. Within a few days, I will tell you what I feel.
cleftmale Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 ENT based hospital don't work on Cleft patients as much as Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons tho.
cleftmale Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Every appointment I am having now makes me realize more how much Dr. Vincent Yeow (Singapore) surgery on me back in 2002 or 2004 had left me damaged. I will not yet comment on my appointment with the Korean clinic yet but I want to say that I had diagnostic CT done today and the results were scary. Dr. Vincent Yeow severed my Mental nerves which explains why my lower chin remain numb to this very day. The good news is that the nerve will recover in 20 years time which means another 7-8 years. Damn! Dr. Vincent Yeow told me that he will put a little something on my chin. I always thought I had a silicone implant on my chin but alas I had a poorly done Sliding Genioplasty with damage nerves. The cut on my chin was exactly on the mental nerve itself. Because the chin was not cut properly on a straight line - my chin looks lopsided. Which wasn't my complain but since I know it now... it is something I want to fix too. However I must say that although my outcome from Dr. Vincent Yeow was not favorable. He had changed my life with the surgery on my upper jaw (also lopsided) surgery and my quality of life improved drastically. The upper jaw being lopsided is probably due to my birth defect but the chin was perfectly normal in the beginning. Mix emotions.
cleftmale Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 To add on to my last post. I believe Dr. Vincent Yeow is an excellent surgeon especially in the field of craniofacial surgery and he probably fix a lot of smiles in the Asia region. But even under the best of hands. Surgery is surgery and the outcome will never be one side rosy.
cleftmale Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 I had just finished my appointment with Pitangui's Dr. Yoo facilitated by Mandy (the clinic consultant). Not at all pushy if anything they were very conservative, wanting to maintain their reputation. I feel safe in their hands because they were trying to avoid this and that. Effectively cutting my surgery list by half and Mandy said that Dr. Yoo has been doing plastic surgery for 30 years or so., he have enough patients and so the motivation will not be the money anymore because he gets by just fine. The major consideration factor here is that he don't want to do my nose because it was done previously with a rib cartilage and the nose bulbous tip is due to the big cartilage that the Kaohsiung Doctor chose. If it were a foreign object, the revisional rhinoplasty will be clear cut. I will recommend the clinic to anyone who want to be safe because the doctor is rather conservative. You are in good hands! I will continue looking because I have a complicated profile to fix.
cleftmale Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 The CT Scan was done yesterday and it shows the work of Dr. Vincent Yeow, SG. One can notice the irregularities along the chin to jaw line on the right profile; the Korean doctor praised that the upper jaw advancement was done with great expertise but the sliding genioplasty was "clumsy work". The 3rd clinic I saw today said that Dr. Vincent Yeow damaged all my mental nerves and my chin will probably remain numb for the rest of my life. I hope the doctor from the first clinic is right tho. I can at least recover.
cleftmale Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Galaxy Plastic Surgery, Busan Like I had mentioned (if anyone has been following me but I doubt it. I have never even thought of surgery out of Seoul but I came across them when I was partcipating a medical expo in Beijing, last month). They were slightly pushy (very slightly) probably trying to close the deal but they were very good. All my questions were answered and I am a difficult patient / I asked literally everything. The surgeon himself spoke to me first for a good thirty minutes or so, after he went in for surgery. Another consulting surgeon (plastic surgeon who don't practise) spoke to me for another session of queries. They do a special technique call Micro Cronal Malar which has the secondary scar on top of the head, within the hairline. They will perform a small 'lift' upwards to compensate the possible loss of skin elasticity from the procedure. I loved everything that has happened, proper diagnosis, good bedside manners and everything nice. Seriously I will recommend this clinic to anyone considering plus the environment and location is way better than Gangnam. Food, selection of hotel within walking distance, shopping is all within 10 minutes walk. Seoul is too confusing for a foreigner like me and it is difficult to navigate the subway stations etc. When i was managing my trip. I will not mention the exact prices of the individual surgeries (I was requested by all the clinic I have been to keep the cost private). So i will let you know the ending price which is approximately 28,500USD. In conclusion tho., their fees is very average after comparing with other clinics. # HighlyRecommended I didn't take photos of all the place I've been to. Galaxy is not really quiet but they have moments that there are no other patients and so I take photos. I didn't take photographs of other clinics in seoul because there were other patients. I think it will not be fair for me to put any of their photos online for privacy.. More tomorrow.
lovelypeach Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Thanks for sharing @cleftmale ! Very useful information Can't wait for the updates
cleftmale Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 I've been in korea so far. (But the Andriod APP stop working and was unable to update for a while) I've also visited MVP Plastic Surgery, they have 2 translator. And they sort of left me traumatised, the case manager with background from Canada decided to get very friendly with me. She asked me questions if I'm straight (or gay) and how the procedures I want are uncalled for. She even started to stretch my back, which was really creepy! At the very end. They were only interested in doing my lips and rhinoplasty, bare essentials for a cleft patient. I'll update on the cost later.
cleftmale Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 TL Plastic Surgery. OMG! I'd a horrible experience at this place despite having wonder email exchange with the case manager etc.. The Doctor came in and examine my nose. His fingers smells of cigarettes.. My decision to skip them was easy. More in a week or two.
cleftmale Posted January 11, 2017 Author Posted January 11, 2017 NAMU Plastic Surgery, I read from some other client who had been to a couple of clinics in korea but came to this clinic. She was pleasant to have met the doctor in person (but was confused that she went for an X ray right after the surgery?) It's true. The doctor is a pleasant chap who remembers my email query. He listens to what I want and was able to accommodate my request, he does a drastic masseter muscle resection which I've doubts about. Post-Operative Care (You know where I am now) has been good so far, good bed side manners but you really have to forgive a lot of the bad chinese etc. If you depend on english, don't come here. I would had chose Galaxy Plastic Surgery, Busan or NAMU Plastic Surgery. I end up with NAMU because of the Translator, she has been very reassuring and that sets up a different tone from what I see at Galaxy. However having experience the post-op so far, I still think Galaxy could had been a good choice. More later. Day 3 Post Operative (My procedure list Lower Blepharoplasty, Jaw Reduction *inclusive of buccal fat removal, masseter muscle resection, Sliding Genioplasty, Mini-Face Lift, Lip Reduction, Epi) I wanted something drastic and so my options was going to be NAMU or Galaxy, I really think I'd chose NAMU because of the translator.
sujinsuuch Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Opera Plastic Surgery !! I heard this hospital famous for foreigner and good result
cleftmale Posted January 12, 2017 Author Posted January 12, 2017 Yes. I did. I had to choose between Galaxy and NAMU (after researching) but I went with NAMU because the translator was very reassuring; I still think both Galaxy and NAMU would be right for me.
