fairybox Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Sorry if I sound like a total noob for asking these questions >.< 1. If i want surgery in summer 2017, when should I contact the clinic / book flights? 2. What is an online consultation? I added JW's line but I'm not really sure how to start the conversation...just "hello, I'd like surgery?" 3. Do I visit Korea and visits lots of clinics and decide when I'm there which clinic to go for or do I have to decide months in advance? 4. I've seen people say you should request certain doctors - can you just straight up tell them to give you a certain doctor (esp. if they're the busiest??) I feel like there may be more noob questions to come...lol, sorry everyone!
jennie0906 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 1. You can contact the clinic when you're about to book your flight just to check if that date is available. I think 2~3 weeks prior to the date you wanna visit the clinic should be enough! 2. You can send your pics and ask for a online consultation. And ask any questions as many as you want Of course you can start by saing I'd like surgery hehe 3. You can decide which clinic you wanna have surgery at after getting consultation at different clinics because you wanna make a decision carefully 4. Yea you can tell them staight up which doctor you wanna have consulataion with and also surgery. I'm sure they will try their best to connect you with the doctor! Hope this helped, and good luck!!
fairybox Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 Thanks for the reply guys!! Is it way too early if I contact them now about summer 2017 next year - I think I already know what dates I'm going over since I know my university term dates and I wanna book plane tickets early bc summer tickets r soooo expensive x(
twocupcakes Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I wouldn't specifically request a doctor right off the bat. It's common for clinics to charge a premium (usually around 500,000 won or so) for a specific doctor if they're well-known, which sort of led to the whole "ghost doctor" phenomenon. Just ask them who will be performing your surgery first. Maybe you'll get the doctor you wanted anyway, and you won't have given them an opening to tack on extra fees.
bellaroo_23 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 this is very helpful infomation thankyou!
perivvinkle Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Haha tbh I'm in the same boat as you (a university student thinking about getting surgery this summer) and I was too shy to ask these questions myself, so thanks!
