maliboo Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 hi everyone ~ interested in hearing responses from those who had to go back to work after a week or two of recovery! i know the ideal is to not give a damn about what people think but i think we all do, to various extents. Aside from people like your family and close friends, who would be more likely to notice but also more likely to be accepting if you were to tell them: - Did your colleagues notice? - If they did, did you tell them you had plastic surgery? How did you respond? - If you used an excuse instead, what excuses did you use? certain changes are more obvious of course, like if you do three or four procedures all at once. but I'm especially keen to hear from people who did their primary rhinoplasty! thanks :3
lovemeimei Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 i would love to know too , i am going to rhino surgery in March and will go back to work after 2 weeks of my surgery ...
moonlee Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I wore glasses to work. But of cos, colleagues will still say you look different.
maliboo Posted February 26, 2017 Author Posted February 26, 2017 @MoonLee thanks for answering but when they said you look different, do you think they knew it was plastic surgery? or did you manage to pass it off
moonlee Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Mine was obvious cos I had flat face. Don't remember anyone asking. But the year before I had double eye surgery. So the colleagues may have already figured out I went to do something again. Anyway cosmetic surgery is really your choice n you don't have to explain to anyone.
itsamemario Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I'm still in school, but in my major we all take the same classes and I see the same 100 people everyday, so I think my experience is comparable. I had rhino and hairline transplant done and no one noticed at all. My rhino was very natural - in fact, my Dr kept warning me that it might be so natural that I may want to get it redone - and the hairline transplant grew in super gradually. Even though no one's noticed, I think it's definitely made me a lot prettier and my SO agrees. I think it's just the small tweaks that made me face look almost imperceptibly more 'harmonious'
enf782 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I remember a friend/coworker of mine got her jaw done. I pretended not to notice cause it's social convention not to bring it up unless you're close to the person lol.
enf782 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 It's funny cause I also worry that others will notice/ suspect I underwent surgery. But I think that we needn't feel ashamed for undergoing surgery so long as we don't turn vain or start thinking less of others/ start seeing ourselves as better than others. As long as we remain respectful and kind, it should be fine. We're all humans with insecurities. I'm not advocating materialism... as long as we find a good, healthy, appropriate balance between spending money and time on ourselves vs. others, it's okay. No need to feel ashamed so long as it doesn't cloud your heart. If you think it would help you be a better person, then why not. o_o Sorry, think I repeated myself a few times there lol. Edit: Assuming you're using your own earnings for the procedures lol.
biggiesmalls Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Hi @itsamemario. May I ask where you got your procedures for both the hair transplant and rhinoplasty?
itsamemario Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 For hair transplant I went to JP (I wrote a super in-depth post about my experience here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/4jbycm/my_experience_getting_cosmetic_surgery_hairline/) http://www.jpplastic.co.kr/ because they were doing a promotion on Babitalk and I read good reviews about them on Soyoung. It cost me 2.5 million won, however, I heard they've since increased their prices drastically (like doubled). For nose I went to JWPS (not JW, the super famous one everyone talks about here). The price was great (can't remember but it was super low, like 1.5 million won) and he was very professional in our consultation. Had great before and afters that showed a variety of styles. However, the aftercare wasn't good and I basically only saw him for 2 minutes after my cast was taken off. I got the exact result that I wanted though.
biggiesmalls Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Thanks for sharing! I read your post and it was really detailed and informative. I would like to look into both of the clinics you mentioned
linlin18 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 How many units did you get and was it FUE? Thanks! How are you linking your results now?
jiaozi Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I read your reddit post, it's super comprehensive, thanks so much! Would you mind sharing how your healing procedure was like/the progress? And whether it was obvious you got the hairline transplant a few days after the the procedure?
itsamemario Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I will type up a more comprehensive post in the future, but basically the healing process went exactly like I was told by my dr. That is, all the hairs felt out a few weeks after the transplant and then they started growing back after 2 months. This means that for the 2 months between, it looked like I never had the procedure - there were no scars or 'stubble'. It also meant they grew back in a very natural way and rate, so no one noticed at all. However, growth is still patchy now (post 10 months). During my first week post-op, it was extremely itchy and I made the mistake of absent-mindedly scratching my left side to the point of bleeding, as I removed scabs. There is noticeably less hair on the left side compared to the right. Not to the point of bald spots and everything is still very natural and I still got the general result I wanted (a smaller forehead), but the hairline is not as dense as I would like. So I am considering getting some transplanted again, because a revision is very cheap (if the clinic upholds their promise, I will have to contact them and update on PF/reddit :/ ) Yes, it is very obvious you got a hair transplant for the first few days. There are scabs everywhere and the hair looks fake af and pointing in every direction lol.
coco100 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I have my consult and surgery scheduled with JP this summer. Thanks for your reddit post cuz that was actually what made me contact them! Their prices have definitely gone up Do you mind sharing how many grafts you got and if it was FUE or FUT?
